The Soul Manipulator
On The Surface ___
Race: Human
Name: Nicolas East
Age / Apparent Age: 21 / 21
Gender: Male
Height & Weight: 6’4” & 185lbs
Hair & Eyes: Black
Physical Description:
Nicolas is a light skinned male, who has short spiky black hair with bangs that are brushed to the right, and dark eyes. He has a strong jaw line, as well as a lean yet muscular body with a large scar that runs diagonally from the center of his abdomen to his right thigh. His ears are a bit perky and his height is commendable, as he stands over six feet. He has a rather low voice, even when yelling or shouting. Often during casual conversation it seems that Nicolas is mumbling, but he's frequently unaware of the volume of his voice. The English that he speaks has a rather american dialect about it, with random tidbits of other dialects that he's gathered from reading books or meeting foreigners. His eyes are very low, with faint bags beneath them hinting that he doesn't get adequate sleep very often. He frequently wears cargo pants and jackets, often of an olive drab color. This as well as the rest of his attire attest to his upbringing as a solider of Fenrir.
Spiritual Description:
Nic’s Reiatsu is the same as the luminescent green Bringer Light. Nic’s Reiatsu gives form to his depression, placing the weight of it on the shoulders of those who feel it. It is the personification of his personal trauma, all that he has been through and the toll that it has taken on him. His Reiatsu manifests in different ways dependent on his emotional state at the moment in time. Feelings of anger and frustration cause his Reiatsu to manifest as lightning, cackling around his body in high concentrations. Where as feelings of distress will cause his Reiatsu to manifest in a more fire like form in high concentrations.
Behind The Eyes___
Personality:
Nicolas is a very thoughtful individual, which causes him to frequently tune out reality and focus only on his thoughts. After the loss of his mother Nicolas was very aloof from other individuals, more often than not choosing silence over conversation unless there was work to be done. Throughout his life Nicolas has developed anxiety, causing him to get nervous or uneasy with tense or daunting situations. His Anxiety manifests itself physically as compulsive behavior, so whenever he feels anxious about something Nicolas will pick at his fingernails to cope, often causing his fingers to lack any nails at all. His anxiety also leads him to conversational issues, having a hard time starting or maintaining conversation as well as trusting strangers. However with people that he is familiar with he has no trouble with his conversation. Nicolas has become very good at hiding his inner emotions, leaving him with an apathetic expression on his face more often not. The trauma of Fenrir has left Nicolas suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, causing him to endure insomnia and vivid night terrors recalling various different traumatic encounters during his time at Fenrir. When Nicolas has been without his medication for several days he develops negative side effects that get increasingly worse the longer he is without the Ergas. Despite the atrocities that occurred inside of Fenrir's walls, since abandoning it Nicolas has felt lost. He feels that he lacks purpose now, with no one to show him the way he finds choosing a path a difficult task.
Beneath his aloof outer shell, Nicolas is actually a very kind individual. He doesn't take any pleasure in killing, and if it wasn't for Fenrir forcing him to do so it's possible he would have never taken a life. However he is no stranger to violence, his half-pacifism would lead to him to spare the life of a beaten and bloodied opponent rather than lead him to never harm them in the first place. Due to his upbringing and his medication Nicolas is rather submissive, not enjoying to argue for long periods of time or refuse to perform an action he was ordered to do. Nicolas undersells himself as a whole, but particularly when it comes to his intelligence. He's never been one to call himself more intelligent than someone else, and he believes that most things that come easy to him would be just as easy for the next person. This comes from the constant belittling of the Tags by their superiors, leading to very low self-esteem in Nicolas and the others he was raised with.
Positive Qualities:
Thoughtful - As a thoughtful person, Nicolas tends to think things through thoroughly. He avoids rash decisions in favor of rational planning. He has also developed a rather open mind state, willing to accept the opinions and ideas of others to aid him in expanding his mind. He enjoys to read books and can often be found in libraries.
Kind – Nicolas is a kind man, but his upbringing in a harsh world has left him emotionally distant. He usually shows his kindness by volunteering at soup kitchens or donating money he earned to a charity. He isn't very vocal about his kindness, and will often perform kind acts without saying a word or expecting a response.
Disciplined – His harsh upbringing in a militaristic environment has disciplined Nicolas, at the least. He is able to set his mind to tasks and see them through to the end, though things such as medication shortage can disrupt his disposition and make him more prone to laziness. He frequently meditates and trains his Martial arts to maintain his discipline and sooth his mind.
Negative Qualities:
Submissive - Nicolas isn't a very outspoken individual, he tends to submit to authority without question, despite whether or not he has different feelings about the situation at hand. This leads him to reluctantly perform actions he dislikes, out of fear of being punished.
Anxious - Nicolas is anxious, and will become nervous in tense situations. This usually leads to impatience and engaging in compulsive behavior, such as nail biting. He is also very untrusting of new people.
Doubtful - Nicolas has a bad habit of doubting himself, with trouble relying in his own abilities. This leads to Nicolas underselling himself, and misjudging his limits or perhaps the over all strength of an opponent.
Strength Of The World___
Power:
Nicolas was born with the eponymous ability Fullbring. Which enables him to manipulate the souls contained within matter. Everything, even rudimentary objects such as lampposts and chairs possess a soul, however small. By using his power to “pull” on this soul, Nicolas can manipulate the object's movement or even alter its physical characteristics. Nicolas’ personal Fullbring manifests from an onyx armband that is attached around his bicep beneath his clothing, a gift from his late mother.
Nicolas’ personal fullbring is a clad-type. It takes the form of semi-heavy white armor and a muscular body suit with a large collar and a traditional hakama present, ballooning pants common in samurai. The long silver mane that reaches down from the back of his helmet appears to be his hair at first, but is actually a part of the fullbring and fully removable. All armored sections feature fully-functional crimson eyes with slit pupils. These eyes are integrated into the brain through artificial optical nerves that the full bring creates, allowing them to perceive as if they were his own eyes. This increases his reaction time as well as his battlefield awareness. The mask that he wears is a completely white, two horned helmet with no features or visor, appearing to have no face at all. Despite it's lack of features Nicolas can see through the mask as if it wasn't even there. It also does not restrict his breathing, or muffle his voice. His Fullbrings' abilities interfere with his bodys' pain receptors and cuts the ability for the Thalamus to properly interpret sensory information sent from his pain receptors. This numbs him, decreasing the amount of pain he feels compared to the physical damage he has received. This allows him to push his body beyond its limits, giving it his all for long periods of time even when injured. However, the negative drawback from this aspect is that he is unable to tell when he has taken too much damage. Leading to over exhaustion in combat. His Fullbring also increases his overall durability to that closer to spiritual foes.
The Arsenal: Due to the nature of his Personal Fullbring, Nicolas tends to carry around with him a few particular tools that he has grown accustomed to utilizing on the battlefield. These tools have been close to Nicolas for some time, and they are all considered keepsakes. He tends to utilize these weapons before his Personal Fullbring, but will also use them in tandem.
- Old Zippo Lighter - An old lighter with sentimental value that Nicolas was given as a young man. While it isn't rusted, it is poorly preserved and has no lighter fluid within it. When Nicolas pulls on the soul of this weapon, he creates a medium to long range spark that flies from the lighter and detonates when it comes into contact with a surface. The fiery blast it produces is dependent on how much Reiatsu Nicolas uses, and he tries to refrain from using it as close range, as he risks burning himself. It's easy to see in his fighting style that he favors using his lighter to keep enemies at bay and wear them down.
- "Earth Shaker" - Another weapon he acquired during his days as Fenrir, Nicolas carries a single shot revolver with a .500 caliber. The gun has the words "Earth Shaker" engraved on the side, and was stolen from one of his old captains. Pulling on the soul of this weapon does not bring forth a dramatic effect, using it only allows Nicolas to fire condensed bullets of Reiatsu with concussive force relative to the caliber of the weapon.
- Katana - The Katana Nicolas carries is forged from carbon steel, and was the first weapon he was given as a young man. The sword is crafted to give it as much durability as possible while maintaining a light weight. Due to this being the first weapon he was given, Nicolas has developed a deeper connection with this sword. That being said, this weapon has the most unique ability out of his arsenal. The Fullbring for his Katana is called "Darkdrift". Once activated, Darkdrift turns the blade of the Katana purely into Reiatsu. The blade retains it's shape and appearance, but upon contact with a solid surface, the blade will vanish into the surface. These attacks are purely spiritual, attack the soul of the target/object rather than the physical form.
Legacy Created___
1995 – Nicolas is born in the Fortress country, Fenrir.
1996-1999 – Nicolas is raised in Fenrir’s nursery program by his mother until the age of four. On Nicolas’ first birthday he saw his mother for the last time and was assigned a caretaker to act as his ‘father’. Nicolas’ mother was killed.
1999-2005 – Nicolas is enrolled in educational classes in Fenrir’s East Branch. He is exposed to basic physical training, and is assigned a dorm with five other boys.
2005-2010 – Nicolas progresses through his school, with classes increasing in difficulty as he went on. As he continued to age and develop he was exposed to more rigorous and intense physical training regimens. He was taught how to eat properly to maintain his physique and began learning weapon-based combat. Project "WatchDogs" is set in motion and experimentation begins on the children.
2011 – Nicolas and the other boys in the East Branch are informed that they will no longer be living under the care of their individual ‘fathers’ and would now serve under a single Captain. Soon afterward the boys are exposed to violent lives, working hard through the day and night. ‘Disciplined’ when they were disobedient and depraved of their food in favor of other soldiers in Fenrir. Project "WatchDogs" is interrupted late in the year as Fenrir is attacked by a neighboring country, with hollow attacks beginning soon afterward.
2012-2013 – Nicolas and the others are exposed to much more intense physical training regimens as they near the end of their required educational classes. Many of the boys spent extensive time in the infirmary. Without project “WatchDogs” being completed before the arrival of hollow attacks many of the kids were unprepared, and were beaten viciously by the hollow they were ordered to kill. On top of that Fenrir was under attack from some neighboring nation that wished to control the land, forcing the boys to endure the hardships of war on two fronts at an early age. The Captains are brutal and harsh on the boys, threatening to starve or kill them for insubordination. The Boys – referred to now as “Tags” – are forced to enforce the law of Fenrir down on those who would rebel. The Tags quickly become very disliked among the civilians and soldiers of Fenrir alike. As their abilities begin to manifest they are shunned and called monsters.
2014 – With the war still raging and hollows still attempting to consume the denizens the Tags were pushed to their limits as they matured. Their educational classes had ended long ago and their training and combat experience had paid off nicely. They had lost a few Tags during the winter of the previous year, but did their best to compensate with what they had and keep the spiritual and non-spiritual attackers at bay. Mid-year of 2014, the armies that had been attacking Fenrir began to withdraw. They had suffered too many loses due to Hollow attacks to continue their endeavors, and were given no choice but to retreat. With the Tags holding the hollow away, and the attacking army ending the conflict. Things were seeming to get better.
2015 – Things seemed to maintain a peaceful smoothness throughout the remainder of 2014, the hatred from the denizens and the army of Fenrir no longer effected the Tags, they were apathetic to the people. They were only happy to have survived their horrid ordeals and finally they were able to rest. Unfortunately things were much to easy-going, and tragedy had to strike. A series of unfortunate evens lead to a single Tag betraying his brethren in their sleep. Assassinating nearly all of the remaining tags. Nicolas is able to subdue the attacker but is blamed for everything that happened, with no alibi he had no choice but to run.
2016 – Having lived a life only within the walls of Fenrir, Nicolas spent the next year running from their forces and trying to stay alive, knowing not where he could go to be safe. That was until he heard of a place where he would be safe from Fenrir’s reach. A place where people like him could flourish, and that’s what lead him to Karakura town.
History:
1995 -
Fenrir started out simple, it's original purpose was a mass trading post. A bizarre if you will. However, once war began to riddle the nations that surrounded Fenrir things began to change. People fled from their homes to escape the war, and they came to Fenrir. Eventually the simple trading post had become a small city, a place for refugees to escape the tragedies that had befallen them. From there it was over taken. Without having a single figure head to rule over the entire encampment it was simple for the Mercenaries to overthrow the people of Fenrir, forcing them to be subservient to their new rulers. With the mercenaries running things crime began to become a main source of income to maintain Fenrir under the table. Arms dealing, Drug trafficking, even the trafficking of humans wasn't beyond these men as they built the foundation that would become Fenrir of 1995.
The city was now more of a fortress, four large walls surrounded the main city, but roads and railways ran in and out of the walls to reach the occupied land outside of the fortress. The mercenaries didn't care much about those who lived out side of the walls, as long as the people paid their due they were allowed to remain. Crime began to run the streets, trading was difficult and those who managed to survive only got by off the skin on their teeth. What was worse was the continuing war in the region. Resources were scarce and everyone was fighting to have the upper hand. Fenrir's location made it prime target for war, as the claim to the land would allow massive expansion for the country that annexed it.
There were many different rumors that attest to what caused the Hollow attacks. Some say the land was cursed with death, and demons had leapt from hell to consume the souls of the damned. Others believes the creatures were military experiments being employed by a new face in the war. In truth the massing of souls for the extensive combat eventually lead to smaller hollows hunting throughout the battlefields and consuming the soldiers, subsequently leading larger hollow out to the area to catch a small snack and hunt larger hollow. There wasn't much that Fenrir could do to defend themselves, the hollow easily outmatched their weaponry.
Fenrir was hopeless for some time, struggling to make it by as hard as the other armies were. The hollows disrupted the flow of the war, everything was in a frenzy. Many soldiers abandoned their posts at the sight of the monsters, rallying and attempting to raid Fenrir and other nearby villages. It was only whenever a wandering spiritualist had been caught in the fray that a plan was set in motion, one that Fenrir hoped would change the tides of the war. The Spiritualist woman had been traveling with her family when they were caught in the hunting party of hollows that patrolled the area, forcing them to attempt to combat them. The spiritualist attempted to keep her family safe, but was ultimately forced to make her way to Fenrir if she wanted everyone to escape safely. All that can be said is that she tried her best.
With Fenrir scouts spotting the womans abilities to combat the hollow, she was immediately detained and separated from her family. She was forced to remain submissive under the threat of her family being tortured or killed, the mercenaries had gotten their hands on an ace card. The family was kept hostage, and the spiritualist was forced to formulate a way that Fenrir could fight the Hollow. They wanted super soldiers, they tortured her family, they tortured her. Eventually what they got was several large books, the spiritualist wrote them by hand. They were detailed instructions on the process of making Fullbringers. A spiritualist human created from an infant being exposed to Hollow Reiatsu in the womb. She wrote about their abilities, how they would manifest and how to develop them. There was only a finite amount of detail, with each Fullbringer being different than the next. They knew not how she had this information, but all they cared about was a way out. Thus Project "WatchDogs" was born.
Before the spiritualist was allowed to leave Fenrir, she was forced to enact a plan that Fenrir had drafted from what she had given them. They carefully planned out 35 pregnancies, all of which were set to give birth roughly around the same time. These women were herded like cattle, and forced to endure hell. Fenrir had the spiritualist capture a hollow from the area to provide the hollow Reiryoku they needed. Every woman from the 35 that were impregnated were forced to be the victim of a controlled hollow attack, with the spiritualist doing her best to restrain the hollow and prevent it from killing the women, while still allowing it to injure them. However due to Fenrir's torture, the spiritualist was drained. She tried her best but, only 25 of the women were able to survive the hollow attacks. With five more women experiencing miscarriages before their deliveries.
After everything was set in motion, Fenrir nursed the remaining women back to health and they saw their pregnancies through to the end. The spiritualist and her family were transported separately to a remote location and dumped without care, with the Fenrir soldiers assuming they all had died. With everything taken care of, Fenrir prepared themselves for the dedication to Project "WatchDog" and the children that they dubbed "Tags".
1996/1999 -
Fenrir built several nurseries throughout the walls of the fortress to accommodate the needs of the new mothers. Five mothers and their children were assigned to each wall of the fortress, each of which were positioned on cardinal directions. North, South, East, and West became the last name of the children and were related to which post they were assigned to. These walls would be their lives. For the first few years they were raised by their mothers. They were taught how to speak, read, and feed themselves like normal children. There was happiness in their ignorance, they had no idea what was in store for them.
On their fourth birthdays, the first of many unfortunate events would befall the children. Late in the evening after the sun had set, each of them were visited by a different Fenrir soldier. They were informed that this would be the final night that they would spend with their mothers, and in the morning they would be recovered by their new commanding officer and assigned to housing specified for them. Of course at such a young age the children weren't fully capable of understanding the situation, but their mothers were. Many of them left parting gifts with their children, in the case of Nicolas he was given an onyx armlet from his mother. She told him to put it on and never remove it, that it was designed to grow with the wearer. She told him that if there was ever a time where he was in trouble, to remember that she was always with him, her motherly warmth residing within the armlet he now wore.
The next day the children were taken from their mothers as they were told would happen. The five children from each wing were moved into dormitories rather than remaining in their respective nurseries. The grouping remained the same, keeping the children that were familiar with one another close. They were immediately assigned to educational classes, continuing to raise the children as though they were normal, however there were a few "extra courses" that fenrir included in their curriculum. The Fenrir 'military' had decided it was best for the children to study things such as combat tactic, strategic analysis, and other militaristic ventures. They wanted the children to be ready for combat at the youngest possible age, due to the hollow's that hunted throughout the surrounding nations Fenrir needed forces to combat them quickly.
The children were also exposed to basic physical training. P.E if you will, though they were under orders of the Fenrir soldiers leading to a more strict physical regimen than what something like a public school would employ. Fenrir desired their troops to be in peak condition, no matter what. The children were never really introduced to one another outside of the individual groups of five. Leading to few friendships amongst the tags as a whole. Within Nicolas' squad was Worick, Don, Micheal, and D'Angelo. Each of these boys had differing personality types, with Nicolas being the quiet one. Don was he excited one, Worick was the sarcastic one, and D'Angelo was the aggressive one. Nicolas was never one to bicker amongst the lot of them, but tempers flared between the other four squadmates more often than not.
At the end of every day the children would return to their dorms, a single large living space was shared among them. A kitchen area was connected to the living room, but they were too young to operate it. Five rooms connected to the main living space in varying ways, and a single bathroom was shared throughout the dorm. Three times a day a Fenrir assistant would come to cook them meals (Breakfast, lunch, or dinner dependent on the time) and gather their dirty dishes/laundry. Outside of that the children were left to their own devices, their respective captains would check on them occasionally, but for the most part they were left alone. There was little time for them to do more than what Fenrir desired, and as such many of them began to develop dreams of the outside world, of inner Fenrir. The seeds of rebellion were sown young.
1999/2005 -
As time went on, the children were brought up to be submissive to fenrir while still bearing a fair manner. Their education progressed like normal children, however the extra-curricular activities were much different. The teams of children from each wing were put through physically tasking team based training exercises. They were designed to build good strategy among the team while still pushing them to their physical limits. There were many different exercises they were put through, sessions would have them do things such as work cooperatively to reach the top of a large tower, designed to be ascended through teamwork requiring all five of them. At other times they would be given an objective to reach within the compound, with all five of them reaching their objective without being detected. If any of them failed, each of them were put through rigorous workouts afterward.
Of all that Nicolas lied with, he found that Worick was his closest friend. The two of them would often discuss tactic and strategy to apply to their training sessions. They studied combat strategy, but were far from seeing combat themselves. They would draw up blueprints of a battlefield, scribbling out strategies as if they were plays in american football. Micheal and D'Angelo tended to hang out with one another frequently, and Don kind of drifted around between everyone. He was neither disliked nor favored, his over-excitement had a tendency to grow old among his team members. Nicolas never removed the bracelet his mother gave him, and as he began to grow the bracelet did as well, fitting to his arm and expanding as the need be. If the captains were particularly hard on them that day, or if he felt like quitting, he would clutch the bracelet with his other hand and think of his mother.
For the time being things were not bad for the children. They missed their mothers, and the Captains all had weird dispositions, but they were as happy as they could be. Each of them connected through the loss of their mothers. At the age of 9, some of the children began to develop their powers. Occasionally they would be able to pull the soul of the air, punching something harder or throwing something farther without meaning to. At this stage it was difficult to see if any of them were potential prodigies, with not one of them having any clue what was going on with them, Fenrir was unable to scale which of them were stronger than the others, spiritually.
The signs of their powers developing caused Fenrir to jump with joy, they began to push the children harder. Increasing the amount of time they were training, while maintaining their educational regimen. They wanted to pull the powers out of the children, make them develop as fast as they possibly could. They began to anger easily, occasionally beating the children for failing or doing something incorrectly. Things began to become more bleak for the children.. they began to see the true color of Fenrir.
2005/2010 -
As their lives went on they continued to progress through their school classes, learning basically at the same rate as normal children. The biggest difference was the focus on study of military tactics as well as militaristic physical training. As they aged and became more coordinated the children began training with swords, spears, and the like. They were put through rigorous hand to hand drills that left them worn out, sore, and bruised.
Not only were they educated and taught the way of combat, but the children were properly taught how to balance their diets and maintain their physiques. They were taught how to ration food, and they practiced sleeping in a cycle with one or two squad members keeping watch at all times. The kids were all fairly happy, at least they were doing the best they could. The fathers were distant, and when they were around they would always berate the children with foul language and occasional sexual harassment, but that still wasn't the worst of the worst.
During roughly the middle of summer in 2010, Fenrir began the next stage of a project they had dubbed "WatchDogs". This was the first time the children had been told the name of the project, and they were unsure what to expect. But slowly, one by one the young children were taken from their dorms. They were forced to endure unusual and cruel experiments, each searching for a different outcome. Having taken too long to develop their powers, the Fenrir military were growing impatient with the children and began to add their own bit of pizzazz into the project, but the results were not what they had expected.
Children were taken in an effort to make them stronger, faster, or perhaps cause them to develop an outworldly ability. The Fenrir soldiers and scientists had no idea what to expect, they were pretty much firing wildly into the dark with the random experimentation they were performing on the children. They left the kids scarred mentally, disorders now riddled their brain, anxiety and insomnia drove them crazy. OCD and anger problems lead to Tags that were difficult to keep in line, the experiments had failed exceptionally well.
However there was still an ace up Fenrir's sleeve, after all the failed experiments they were forced to come up with a way to keep the children in condition to be trained and prepared for combat. With the Tag population cracked and broken, Fenrir was able to redeem themselves -in their eyes- through a drug they called 'Ergas'. This miracle drug of theirs was designed to counter the effects of the experimentation in two ways, the first was to sedate the subject to keep them complacent. The second was to wire the tags and counter the effects of their sedatives to keep them alert and prepared for combat. This medicine was applied with two pill types, uppers and downers.
2011 -
With the children now regulated by Fenrir's drugs, they were much more submissive and apathetic. Whenever they were told that their Fathers would no longer be caring for them, they were almost unresponsive. Though considering the way they were treated it was to be expected. Now the squads from each wing served directly under a captain, living on their own and doing as they were told whenever they were told to do so. Fenrir began to face hardships, having invested many of their funds into seeing project "WatchDogs" through to the end they subsequently sent the city into a recession, making things much harder on everyone in the city and it's walls.
Without having the proper funding, food rations were decreased throughout Fenrir. The Tags suffered the worst cuts in food rations, even though they were still forced to train just as hard as they did before the recession began. With the city running low on food fenrir saw a rise in the crime rate, with many denizens being killed over their rations. The tags were in charge of cleaning up the bodies of the victims, as well as bringing justice down upon those who had committed the crime if they could be found. Between working and training, the tags found themselves exhausted. If they were to succumb to the exhaustion or attempt to rest after they had been told to work they would be beaten mercilessly until they returned to their duties.
Project "WatchDogs" was still in effect during all of this, with experiments being done on the Tags consistently throughout the sluggish weeks. Many of the Tags including Nicolas himself turned to their mothers keepsakes for comfort, only furthering the plans that Fenrir had for them. Luckily for the children project WatchDogs was interrupted late in the year, as Fenrir became the target of attack for a neighboring country. The Tags were never given the details of what was going on, but all of them were quickly armed as the Fenrir fortress prepared to go to war. The conflict of man caused Fenrir and their attackers to become blinded by their quarrel, to the point that they would not notice when the hollow attacks began.
2012/2013 -
Despite the ensuing combat Fenrir still felt it necessary to keep the Tags on their toes by training them whenever there was down time. During the early days of the war hollows were scarce, and as such the soldiers of fenrir were able to perform most of the combat against the invading forces, with the city desiring to save their 'ace' for a more appropriate time. With the Tags beaten down by their leaders, forced to fight the hollow monsters, and worked to death if they weren't doing one or the other, it was no surprise that there would be drawbacks. Many of the Tags spent extensive time in the infirmary, the only time they felt like anyone cared for them. They recieved bullet wounds, gashes and cuts from the hollow, and broken bones and bruises from their captains. They were pushed to their limits, and their numbers began to decrease. Within the first five months of the war the count of Tags decreased from 25 to 18.
The hardships of war worsened the mental state of the Tags. Nicolas spent many nights sleepless fighting off night terrors. He wasn't the only one, either. Many of the Tags began to develop PTSD and experience mental breakdowns. The Captains didn't ease up despite the Young Tags broken condition, they even went as far as to threaten their lives for insubordination or inability to complete a task. With the Tags cleaning the bodies up within the city, as well as acting as a make-shift police force with the soldiers disposed to fight, they became quickly disliked by the public. They were viewed as monsters for killing the people, and many rumors began circulating about what the Tags did with the bodies of those they recovered from the city. Some even went as far as to say that they were cannibals, consuming the bodies of deceased denizens.
However there was a silver lining in the horde of grey clouds that hovered over the Tags. Many of them began to develop their strange abilities, turning every-day objects into extravagant weaponry. Large swords, sharp spears, all kinds of weapons that the other tags began to utilize. This only reinforced the publics view of them as monsters, but it gave them relief as it leveled the playing field with their Hollow opponents. As the creatures began to appear more and more the power of the children would begin taking sturdy grounding, and they were able to keep the beasts at bay with as little casualties as possible.
Nicolas did not develop a Personal Fullbring right way, rather his abilities with Universal Fullbring began to manifest first. He saw the extravagant weaponry that his comrades used as shiny tools, he wasn't aware of any special abilities they possessed and as such he saw them as ornamental things. He believed anything could be a tool, and as such he was more frequently seen utilizing things like lighters, guns, and metal rods as his weapons. Boosting the souls of the objects to increase their power against his foes rather than creating something shiny and pretty.
2014 -
The war raged well into the next year, the tags were pushed to their limits as they matured. Forced to grow up as a hated people in the center of a war. They were the ones that held the city together, but they were the ones that the city wanted to die and disappear. Obviously this took a heavy toll on the Tags, but it was all they knew so they did not do much to change any thing. They just wanted to survive in this harsh world. The squads were stretched thin now, with only 18 tags remaining they didn't have the forces necessary to cover all the areas of Fenrir as well as they needed to be. However the Tags were developing their powers nicely, despite their difficult lives they were able to hold on the Hollow beasts and the forces of the invading land.
Things were just as bad in the city as they had always been, and it had gotten to the point that they didn't care what the people thought anymore. They did what they were told so that they could live another day, and that was all there was to it. The mental state of many of the Tags continued to decrease as the war went on. Every atrocity witnessed adding to the weight they carried on their shoulders into their next battle.
It wasn't until half way through the year of 2014 that Fenrir realized the invading forces had began to draw back. They had suffered too many losses between combatting Fenrir and the strange beastly opposition they hadn't expected. They had exhausted their resources and were forced to cease their attack on the fortress. They had finally won, the city celebrated and everyone reveled and made merry. In the mean time the Tags were left to clean up the damages of war. Utilizing their powers to handle it as quickly as they could. With the war ending the Tags expected to feel peace, as if they had accomplished something. But nothing changed, the only difference in their lives was that now they weren't getting shot at.
2015 -
Once things were caught up in the city, everything smoothed out. The Tags were treated like crap but didn't care, and things were as normal as they would ever be. Constant studies were performed on their skills and abilities to see just what it was that made them tick. However at this point experimentation had ceased and was no longer an option. If not for the Ergas the mental state of many of the Tags would have deteriorated to the point that they wouldn't be much more than vegetables.
There was a few months during which Nicolas was tasked with joining the Catastrophe team, the original fifth squad that was tasked with aiding whichever part of the city needed it most at the time. Nicolas spent a lot of time away from the East wing, and had lost track of current events on that side of the fortress while he was busying earning his keep. It wasn't until the night he returned that he realized things would not be the same any more.
While he was gone, it seemed tat Worick had overdosed on his Ergas. Worick was another member of the East Wing Tags, but he was never one that Nicolas had given a second thought about. As Nicolas returned to the East wing he was able to witness the overdoes Worick turn against his brethern and slay all of the Tags in the East Wing. Including Nicolas' close friend, Don. As any man would, Nicolas responded in Anger. Lashing out at Worick and activating his personal fullbring for the first time. His battle experience and skill in universal fullbring caused his Personal Fullbring to show it's face at a more developed stage than the other Tags, and he was able to slay the delusional Worick quickly. But not without cost.
Soldiers of Fenrir were soon to arrive on the scene. Nicolas was blamed for the massacre, and forced to flee from the fortress to escape his death. However NIcolas was able to steal something of great value before he left the facility, the formula to create Ergas.
2016 -
Nicolas spent several months on the run from Fenrir. Forced to flee to a nearby country as a refugee, but once he was discovered as an inhabitant of Fenrir he was forced to flee once again. The Fenrir forces tried their best to track down their investment but ultimately Nicolas escaped their clutches. After that he just seemed to wander, going from place to place not even considering to remember their names. He did his best to earn whatever money he could by working as a Handymen to keep himself fed, but eventually he was forced to find a place to settle down.. he had ran out of his Ergas and lacked what was necessary to create more. He heard through rumors and whispers that there was a man who could manufacture the Ergas for the right fee. He was told that the man lived in Japan, in a city called Karakura town.
Nicolas now moves to settle down in Karakura town, find the doctor that can make his medicine and get himself a way to live, trying his best to stay happy.
