For at least month or so, Junji had been having more issues than usual concentrating on his daily tasks. While it had not gotten so bad to the point where it interfered in a dramatic level with his duties at the Research Department or his combat training, it was at the very least, rather frustrating. Despite his best attempts to remain focused on the current projects within the Department, his mind kept going back to Seireitei, and its more recent authority changes. More importantly, he was concerned about how different the new power structure would be. If he had any luck, they would be very different from the people that preceded them. On the other hand, being completely different could be just as bad as well. From the looks of it, the time for upheaval was just beginning. While there was no concrete evidence, he just had a very firm hunch that even bigger changes were due to pass pretty soon. And, if his past hunches and observations were any indication, he was most likely right. The issue at hand however would be the nature of the changes, and the ideals the very individuals chosen to drive it through would carry along.
As it was, Junji already found himself at a divide. He found himself creating doubts within his mind in respect to the foundations on which he grounded his loyalty to Soul Society. He was no traitor; quite far from it actually. With everything he had done up to that point, one could even consider him a martyr were he not still alive in a way. Junji had dedicated his all to Soul Society. He had trained his own body and even helped his peers to increase the potential fighting ability of his division, and Seireitei as a whole. Through the labor of his mind, Junji had helped in creating and remodeling technology that continued to help the Shinigami today. He had been an instrumental driving force in the conflicts created by his kin, like the assault on Las Noches. Unfortunately he was also a testament to what he saw as one of the many failures to Seireitei, indirectly causing the calamity known as the Seireitei Massacre.
It was almost as if there was something strange within him, instigating him to think. There was some kind of force or agitation within him that encourage him to think, and in doing so continuously doubt the actions of Soul Society. There was something within him continuously whispering into his ears that he could do better for himself and for most beings elsewhere, pursuing a path that though taboo and persecuted, would yield the most promising results despite its unorthodox nature. Regardless of the conflicting nature of his thoughts, Junji had chosen not to share his ideas or confide them with anyone. Due to the nature of his doubts, he could be doted as a traitor for even thinking like that. What's more, he could lose access to a lot of the data he had at the moment. For the time being, he simply saw it best to deal with his imbalance of emotions on his own, and come to terms with something more concrete down the road, one way or another.
