These should be only core events that somehow shaped your character’s life. Birth, death, what triggered their powers, and things of that sort should be mentioned here. Anything that other characters might want to reference, such as when you were given a number (if applicable), is useful as well. This is not a full timeline, just the highlights of your history.
[ ON THE SURFACE ]
Physical Description: Describe how your character looks, sounds, smells, and acts like. Try to focus on the key aspects of a character, such as their body build, demeanor, and vocal patterns, and stray away from useless information that won’t be brought up in a typical thread. This description should be very cleanly written, but not come off as a checklist of features. Try to mesh all of the parts together to create a coherent thought.
Spiritual Description: Similar to above, though this focuses on the spiritual presence of your character. This would be how their Reiatsu appears and/or feels when they release it. Typically, Reiatsu can invoke a feeling of sorts and often takes on a ghostly appearance. Reiatsu cannot be touched or molded and simply serves as dramatic effect.
[ BEHIND THE EYES ]
Personality: Describe who your character is and how they interact with the world. This doesn’t necessarily include what they like or dislike, unless those opinions have an actual effect on the character. That is to say, including that they like to watch it rain is rather useless, however saying they are a hollow sympathizer is certainly worth mentioning. Take into consideration things that will actually be relevant to the story you’re telling and information other thread partners would want to see out of your character. This is where you justify the things you want to do.
Goals & Achievements: This is where you briefly talk about things your character has done in the past, or things they want to do. Please note that you cannot have had any previous position of notable power (such as lieutenant or captain), however mentioning that you were once a seated officer in a certain division is very relevant information. This is a very good place to start a foundation of your story and make notes on the general direction of where you want to go with your character. Above all else, keep your goals reasonable; it was be a little ludicrous to go out the gate wanting to be Captain Commander. However, feel free to update this as you progress, so players have easy access to your current plans and accomplishments.
[氷鏡 (Hyōkei) ]
Appearance: Hyōkei's aurora spirit is a light cyan main form with ethereal purple energy forming a sort of mane. From his head protrudes a crown like protrusion that used to serve as his hollow mask. Two wispy tails of less dense spiritual energy can be found from his back side and float around his body, usually on either side of him, much like the purple mane. A crystalline white drop shape can be found just under his left eye, forever frozen in time.
History:
As a Shinigami
Hyōkei was originally an extravagant shinigami of soul society with a penchant for the dramatic. He wasn't very well known among other shinigami as, just when he was becoming more than a simple soldier, he disappeared from the Gotei. He held an attachment to his former life that somehow managed to transcend death and the passage of time: a lover he held in his mortal years believed dead. During a mission, he chanced upon seeing her, and it was at that time he decided to hide in the mortal world using a gigai from a close friend to hide among the people of the small town she lived in to watch over her.
As a Rogue
It wasn't long before he made the conscious decision to rekindle the romance he had made with her in the throes of their youth. She had never recovered from his death fully and remained single for a long time, but upon meeting Hyōkei's gigai form she recognized something in his eyes. She could not know and would refuse to believe he was the same man, but she knew deep down that he was the same kind of man she had fallen in love with those many years ago; it was from this a new romance was born of the ashes of tragedy long forgotten. They dated for several months before they reached the decision to be married, and shortly thereafter they discovered she was pregnant.
Tragedy Strikes Once More
Being a shinigami in a gigai did not stop hollows from coming, and with a baby on the way Hyōkei lost his mobility. Suddenly there was no more opportunity to move; the woman he loved decided that she wanted to stay in a small town in Japan called Sapporo. Hyōkei was incredibly hesitant, knowing from his time in the Gotei that Japan was a hotbed of spiritual activity, but Sapporo was far away from Karakura and all her demons. They had a full year of peace in their home and their baby boy was born, but on the night of his birth, a hollow made its way into the hospital. Hyōkei awoke in a panic as he detected it; the small hollow was a quadrupedal feline creature. For whatever odd reason it first targeted the woman, but Hyōkei leaped into action to stop the hollow. It was a weakened gigai versus a potent hollow, yet Hyōkei knew he couldn't back down. The hollow lunged at him going for his throat as he crashed against the hospital window. His strength was fading but in a moment of courage with his back against the shattered glass: Hyōkei used the weight of the creature to his advantage. He threw his legs up and leaned backward to throw the creature out of the 8th story hospital window as his wife woke up. He grabbed for a ledge but instead found the already ripped curtain. It began to tear further as his wife bolted up from the hospital bed.
One, the curtain tears.
Two, she reaches the window.
Three, they reach for each other.
Four, their fingertips brush as he falls.
Five, the cold grips both of their hearts.
Two, she reaches the window.
Three, they reach for each other.
Four, their fingertips brush as he falls.
Five, the cold grips both of their hearts.
In five tenths of a second hope became sorrow as he fell to the city street below where the regenerated hollow would feast on his broken gigai. First came the hole in his heart, borne by time. Then came the hunger, ravenously seeking the moments lost. Finally, the emptiness as his memories finally faded away.
Two Beings Clash: Unlike the hollow, quincy, and Shinigami of Bleach infamy; an Aurorans struggle is not against themselves, but two very different beings clashing against each other. Shizuoka and Hyōkei embody this struggle perfectly with personalities that very much conflict. Hyōkei is a being with a love that transcended the very bonds of death as he rediscovered his lover even after becoming a God of death. His loyalty led him to shirk his duties as a godly being to return to the woman who held more sway over his heart and mind than any organization or military ever could. Contrast that immense loyalty with Shizuoka's nature as a womanizer. Hyōkei despises the flippant manner in which Shizuoka treats love and the emotions of others. Shizuoka loves to do things meticulously, even when he wants to go off on an adventure he makes sure to take the time to be precise with the details of such an excursion. Contrast that slow methodical approach with Hyōkei's permanent sense of urgency. Hyōkei knows what it's like to run out of time and is constantly bothering Shizuoka to hurry up with things which Shizuoka despises because he would much rather take the time to do things the right way. In the end, the question will be: do these two very different entities learn to work together in harmony, or do they let their differences literally tear them apart.
Aspect of Death: Intrigue, a cause, love: often the thing that leads to a death is something obvious, something outstanding, or something meaningful. Sometimes a death isn't so glorious. The cause, the reason, the very aspect that defines it comes down to a matter of less than a second. An extra fraction of a moment that would tip someone to the other side of the thin line separating life and death. Time is the difference between someone catching you when you fall, and the very tips of their fingers brushing helplessly against your own as you fall to your death into the abyss. Time is the difference between knocking someone out of the way to save them, and pushing someone out of the way of harm to take their place in death. Time is the aspect of Hyōkei as the difference between life and death for him wasn't the decision to sacrifice, but the heart-breaking space between a blink and a tear.
Power: Hyōkei allows Shizuoka to move independent of time for a very short period (less than a second.) The relevant skill is checked against an opponents reaitsu perception for the mechanics side of things.
Hollow Spear: Traditionally the Aurorans use an actual spear; however, the weapon is shaped based on both the hollow and the Auroran. Hyōkei takes the form of a short spear (approximately 4 foot long) where the tip widens out in the style of a double edged blade that goes on for 12 inches from its base. The back end of the spear hilt is also sharp but in a more conic style. The shaft itself is very thick, more like a bo staff than a traditional spear, but light weight to the hand. There are grooves along the weapon through which Shizuoka's reaitsu enriched blood flows with iridescent colors (leaning mostly toward blues, greens, and purples like unto aurora borealis) after the weapon is materialized. In order to release the spear an Auroran need only to draw blood and use it to draw out their reaitsu and form a hollow spear; Shizuoka carries a small knife made of bone to inflict this wound.
Appearance During release: Shizuoka's appearance changes when Hyōkei is released to look more like the spirit he is releasing. His eyes turn red to match Hyōkei's own eyes and his hair lengthens before turning purple to match the ethereal purple mane of the hollow spirit.
[ LEGACY CREATED ]
Origin: Each of these three sections should be at least a full paragraph (5-7 complete sentences). In your origin, you should talk about where your character was born, describe their death and talk about their time as a base Hollow. This should stop before your character has become conscious and is able to think about their actions.
Rise to Power: Rise to Power should include the road up to breaking the hollow mask as well as the logic behind doing that. During this phase is when you would talk about how your character has gotten use to being an Arrancar after being a monster for so long.
Call to Action: This is where you talk about the event(s) that made your character shift from an NPC to a player character. For whatever reason, they need to be pulled away from the daily grind and put into the spotlight. In this section, you’ll want to highlight that event(s) and justify why your character is they way they are today.
