It was a slow day at the shrine. The skies were cloudy and threatening to rain all day. In fact weather forecasts were that there would be a storm later in the day. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing in Saria's opinion however. She liked the rain and the sound of droplets pounding against the surrounds. The rumbling of thunder rolling through the shrine. It was an event she was looking to in fact.
In the meantime it was just a matter of keeping busy one way or another. The air was a bit too humid to do much proper woodworking so that option was out. The rain was going to wash away most of the dust and dirt anyways so there wasn't a whole lot of purpose to doing much cleaning until the weather cleared up a little bit. So mostly that left training and experimentation as the priestess' best options. Not exactly her favorite pastimes but she had far too little time for them.
In the end she settled on meditation while sitting on a stone in front of the shrine. As she walked over to her favorite meditation stone she'd grip the maneki neko charm under her robes and gather reishi to herself to trigger her usual transformation. She would then kneel down nearby and look around on the ground carefully until she found a decently large and smooth rock. Once that minor goal was accomplished she'd move to sit down cross legged with her hands sitting in her lap.
Saria's feline tail would wrap around to rest in her lap as well while she slowly closing her eyes. Her breathing would slow down and deepen as she focused on emptying her mind in relaxing. It was something that was always difficult for her. Her mind was typically very hyperactive. The many thoughts, worries, and things she wanted to do were always constantly flowing through her mind like a hurricane. There was rarely a calm moment in her head. Something that she had to work on from time to time so she was prepared when she needed it.
Instead her mind would focus only on her surroundings. Slowly she would reach out and feel the world around her. The reishi trees that rested in the shrine behind her. The trees and animals outside of the shrine. Even the rock in her hands. A rock that would shakily begin to float in the air above her palms. A careful and slow application of both her repelling and attracting forces. Too much of any one force would stop the floating one way or another. It was something she found to be the most effective means of training her skill while her awareness kept her aware of danger and any approaching people who could spot her doing such an unusual feat.
Of course sometimes she didn't mind being spotted. There were times when her curiosity got the better of her when someone interesting seemed to have been approaching. A time like today as she felt a stronger than average presence approaching her little shrine. If someone with a strong spirit was willing to visit the shrine on a day like today then that was someone worth taking an interest in. She would focus her attention on that being as she felt them approach but otherwise take no action just yet.
