Gossips always went around like wildfire. The fact that this one included the fall of a captain and the rise of a new one didn't slow down people's tongues even a little. Kasumi was getting really sick and tired of catching tatters of conversations about Miyuki's transfer to the First and the loss of her haori. The Shinigami around the Fifth seemed to respect raw power quite a bit, and it was only now that Kasumi could see why she could function as a lieutenant around the division even while being really new to most of it. In the end it was hardly a surprise that the majority of her subordinates approved of the fact that Hazuki had taken over the Third. According to them the strongest were more fitting to rule, but 'might makes right' wasn't a slogan Kasumi lived by, even while she had to admit that there was quite a bit of truth in there – especially when it came down to the Gotei.
That was another thing she shouldn't have been surprised about. During her reunion with Weylin she had told him about her new life, that's when the man had pointed out that she had joined a military organisation with its own regulations. Not many thoughts had been given to that little detail, but throughout her Shinigami life ever since she had been growing more and more aware of it. Slowly but surely she was realizing that perhaps her former guardian had been right more than ever before.
Closing the shoji behind her Kasumi took a deep breath. Of course she was angry with Hazuki for bullying her friend, but that was the very reason why she hadn't headed out a day prior when the news had reached her ears. Storming into another captain's office and trying to murder its inhabitant would probably cause more commotion than it had the last time – not that she had tried to murder Minamoto, he hadn't been around for that.
Calmly making her way through the hall she wondered if waiting another day would be better. Could she control all of the harsh feelings she had when Hazuki would stand in front of her?
'You don't have an option, I've asked you if you were up for this and you've made your choice when you've put on that badge.'
Vör didn't sound angry or even upset. Still, her Arctic words cut deeply. It was exactly what Kasumi needed in order to keep herself from rushing over to the Third with the aid of Hohō in hopes of strangling its new captain with her bare hands.
The walk was good to her, the autumn breeze kept the heat out of Kasumi's cheeks. She was fairly calm when arriving at the Annex – eyes stormy grey with bits of blue stared at the door of the office; her emotions were frozen, tightly controlled. She hoped that they would stay that way throughout her visit.
As her knuckles scraped the wood a childish part of her hoped that Hazuki wouldn't be around. Unfortunately, procrastination didn't suit her new position and lady Fortuna appeared to know it.
“Good evening, captain.” She stiffly spoke once she was inside of the office. The last sun rays of the day caressed her feet when she moved through the space in order to get a closer look at the woman's face.
“Why did you do it, Hazuki? Couldn't you pick on someone your own size?” Sounding slightly indignant Kasumi stopped before her heart rate would increase dangerously, and glared at the freshly minted captain. Damn, she really wanted to punch her in the face.
