Kirito stared into the deep, gray pool in the center of his soul. It was a lustful stare, not one of craze, or of need, but of want. His glare was filled with sheer desire, and when the pool stared back, it simply replied with a solemn rejection. Tapping one finger to his sword, a blue light flew out from his body, igniting the world into brilliant blue light, filling the grey skies with sunlight and the dreams that float above us upon the clouds. He pushed his desires away for a brief moment, if only to converse. The grey pool was also now blue, a deep Hawaiian turquoise. You could see the bottom of the pool, a floor coated in sand so soft looking that it could be cashmere.
And then it fell away.
Another blue light glistened underneath the still waters, floating upwards, and though in not quite as spectacular of a fashion, the light bloomed into a beautiful young woman with blonde hair that glistened like a fine diamond, and skin that seemed bright enough to be a sun of it's own. Kiri-Hana, the flower which blooms only in the rain stood before Kirito, as he had called, and she had answered. Kirito's lips hung limp, moving open as they softly asked a question of Hana, one she wouldn't like but would certainly answer.
"Hana... I want to get stronger. I need you to help."
Normally, she would simply say something like, "then get stronger" and throw him out of the world, but no.
Not today.
He was asking for help, he wanted to get stronger, and he was prepared to do so, no matter the cost, however unbearable or unfathomable the toil involved was. He was ready to be better than he was right now, and a simple "no" wouldn't make him back down.
Hana looked at him, glaring into his turquoise wells of eyes. Then, after a moment passed, a soft smile donned itself upon her face as she simply nodded and spoke, her voice picking up after the first pause.
"Alright. This won't be easy so you need to be ready. Can you promise me you're ready to take a serious risk and that you trust me?"
He didn't even take a pause to think about it. The answer was resounding in nature, one which simply slipped out as the words reached his ears.
"Absolutely."
His words meant exactly what they sounded like.
Jumping backwards, Kirito drew his sword; an extension of him and even more so an extension the girl in front of his own eyes, as Kiri-Hana simply closed her eyes for a moment. Then suddenly, a clear white outline appeared, floating in the air, almost as if a pen had drawn the basic form of a man without features. Suddenly, the outline began to glow a faint black, a grainy aura surrounding the lines, and suddenly, the outline gained features, extending itself into the three dimensional plane.
The man had deep and dark blue eyes, contrasting to Kirito's light turquoise, he wore a black sleeveless shirt and ripped navy jeans, pulled taught around his knees and waist. To the right, he had a tattoo of an upside-down angel that was exposed due to the open U shape of the shirt, exposing his upper chest and neck heavily. He had muscular arms and long, lanky legs. Despite the muscle, he still appeared quite small, like a lightweight boxer. His black hair fell to the side, lightly spiked and not long, but situated well on top of and around his head.
A serious look found itself on Kirito's face, his teeth clenched, visible through a gap in his lips on the right. The same gap could be seen across the man's face, the gap situated on the left of his face.
Suddenly, pulling off his shihakusho and dropping his jacket, Kirito unveiled his true clothing.
A pair of ripped navy jeans.
A black sleeveless shirt.
And finally, a tattoo of an angel, this one upright and on his right side.
Kirito clenched his right fist. The man clenched his left.
Hana walked backwards slowly, speaking as she opened her eyes, having finished the ritual. She was now about 20 feet away from both men.
"This... is your trial. You said you want to be better than you are now? Then do it. Beat yourself. Then you get a chance at proving you're strong enough to wield my true power, no, your own true power."
About 10 feet away, Kirito could see himself, staring him right back in the face. Their eyes met, and the man drew a rapier from a sheath on his side, disintegrating as soon as the blade left it. Both men spoke in the same tone, aggressive and abrupt through a form of knowing grin.
"Sup?"
