Nothing was the same anymore. Over time, Angeni's life had become much more hectic since her arrival in Karakura. Originally she had ventured to the other side of the world simply because she was curious about the spirituality in other parts of the world, but upon arriving, she quickly learned that things were not as easy or as accommodating as she had thought. In no more than a few short months, Angeni had nearly experienced the full spectrum of occurrences that the spiritual world had to offer. She had traveled the world as a member of Vigilance, taken part in its defense on numerous occasions, and even undergone her own spiritual growth, both figuratively and literally. Unfortunately, the aforementioned occurrences were generally more negative than they were positive. The most recent of which, and undeniably the most traumatic and strenuous, turned out to also be her first visit to the home world of the Shinigami. While she would have preferred that the circumstances be much more amicable, the choice and circumstances had not been under her control. The only thing that had been in her control, was her own involvement.
The Incursion.
That had been the name many of her own friends as well as the injured combatants she had tended to gave to the event. Countless Hollows led into the heart of the Shinigami city by their vindictive king; dozens of innocents and combatants alike injured and even outright killed all because of some deep-seated grudge that couldn't---or perhaps wouldn't---be forgotten. Angeni had taken it upon herself to become a glimmer of hope for those that had been hurt, a gentle salve on the physical and emotional wounds that had been suffered during those hellish days. How many people had she healed? How many Hollows had she routed as they attempted to swarm and consume the defenseless? There were moments during the entire ordeal that she had become frustrated with the apparent lack of progress she was making; no matter how many people she healed, how many Hollows she destroyed or purified, none of it seemed to matter in the long run. Yet for the sake of her friends and helping those who couldn't help themselves, she suppressed those frustrations and continued with the task she had delegated to herself.
Or at least....she made a strong attempt.
Things often had a way of not going as planned, most of all in the world that she and others like her were a part of. Despite not fully being prepared to take part in the defense effort that had been mounted, Angeni made the choice to be ready regardless. To that effect, she had---perhaps prematurely---ended her imposed solitude in that separated place and joined with Sekai, Jian, and the others for their trip to the Shinigami world. Along with that, Angeni had chosen to bring Freyleif with her; the reasoning behind it was so that she could keep the girl safe and otherwise out of harm's way. As it stood, the exact opposite had been accomplished. Freyleif ended up getting into more trouble during the Incursion than had been subverted. That trouble had led to a dispute between the two of them, which in hindsight could have been handled much better by both of them than it had been. Matters were made more difficult by the unwanted interference by Albrecht and the rather pompous and annoying Doctor Isaac Carol. Eventually it had been resolved, but not without creating a rift in the relationship between Angeni and Freyleif.
One would think that things would settle and become more manageable afterwards, but things took a turn that Angeni could not have anticipated or even believed to be a possibility. The very moment she had been on her way to offer her assistance to Sekai and the others against Obsession, the spiritual presences of both Sekai and Obsession simply....vanished. When they did, a pillar of white light illuminated the sky and Angeni immediately assumed the worst. Before she could fully process what had happened, every Hollow that had accompanied the king inexplicably departed. Like a haze had suddenly been lifted, many of them lingered momentarily in a state of bewilderment before quickly fleeing back to wherever it was that they were from. It wasn't long before the realization returned to her, remembered that her friend, a woman that she had looked up to, was quite possibly dead. Left in a daze, Angeni found herself wandering back to Earth and back home.
The catharsis she chose to help deal with everything that had happened? Liquor, and a lot of it.
Normally, due to her abilities and a naturally high tolerance, it was nigh impossible for Angeni to become intoxicated. Her solution was to actually do the reverse; she used her power to decrease her tolerance and thereby make it easy for her to succumb to the effects. And so currently sat in the main lounge of her manor, the floor and table around her littered with the empty bottles she had drank thus far. Eyes that were normally alert and watchful were now glazed and bloodshot, gazing ahead with a vacancy that could only be attributed to inebriation. The ice of her glass rattled invitingly as she lifted it to her lips and downed the umpteenth drink thus far. Nearly an idea day spent drinking---and she really didn't care or plan to stop anytime soon.
