Value
Name: Takua Megiddo
Age: 838
Gender: Male
Loyalties: Value’s primary loyalties are to his friends, those who accepted him for who he was and have helped him in their own way reach this point. His loyalties also lie with the rest of the Transcendentals and those who try and uphold the greater balance of the universe, not just the cycle of souls. He does not hate any particular faction, although if his sympathies were to lie anywhere in particular it would be with humanity.
Character Parameters
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 155 lbs
Physical Description: Standing tall, Value looks young, as though he were only a man barely breaking into adulthood. No different than any other college-age student in the world, his body is flawless- no scars mar it, only light and lean muscle seen. Dark brown hair comes down to the back of his neck and partly covers his eyes, a bit on the messy side. Under it lies a pair of bright green eyes, glimmering emerald that could be mistakenly accused of glowing in the dark. Along with a face quick to smile with both eyes and mouth, Takua could generally be described of as warm, although his more mischievous moments give him a nearly impish, trickster aura.
His clothing can be eye popping or subdued, both in style and in color. One day he could wear a suit better found on the CEO of a megacorporation, immaculately tailored and fitted in dark shades. The next set better befitting a college campus, with a casual, bright shirt declaring some obscenity and some faded jeans. In the next, an outfit that might better suit a model, slick and dark. Whatever his outfit, he’s made it himself, and it’s fitted to match. He does, however, tend toward darker colors and more casual wear.
His physical presence is generally more understated, often off to the side observing than hogging the spotlight in the main event. A man of smooth but efficient movements, he is quite graceful, although in his anger his motions are quick, all sharp edges. An easygoing, warm voice is his usual style, all charm and knowing smiles. That is, until he drops into his teacher mode, adopting a quintessential college professor air, an event not terrible uncommon. His anger alternates between cold and sharp or fiery and burning, and of the two it’s the latter that ends up biting the deepest.
Spiritual Description: Takua’s reiatsu is blazing like a blue star, a vast pyre that lights up everything around it. It alternates between bright blue and nearly white light as it swirls all around him, ever churning as the mass of his spiritual energy cycles around him. It is both the comforting fireplace in winter and almighty power of a crown fire sweeping through a forest, equal parts protector and destroyer. It is, however, extremely rare to feel his reiatsu at any time, so incredible is his control over it.
Personality
A very inquisitive man, Value enjoys poking his head into all manner of things and learning about them. The world around him is one of the most unique treasures of all, filled with a variety of fascinating things, and Takua is always interested in learning about them. Sometimes this means that he can be more meddlesome than other Transcendentals, as he’s more interested in the affairs of humanity than many. But he does still retain the necessary distance- too much meddling can stunt growth, after all, or twist the world too much. Another part of him that remains unchanged is his empathy, to know and understand how the people around him feel and to reach for that understanding. It gives him incredible insight, both into the ails afflicting them and who they are as people. What has changed, though, is that what he reaches for is no longer just a balm to make them feel better, but to help them understand themselves. This kind of care can sometimes come off as cruel, pushing people at the moment that they are weakest. But his intentions are simply to help people be true to themselves- regardless of whether they understand his cruelty.
His humility has faded- Takua is neither proud nor overly modest. What he has is a precise understanding of exactly what he can do, and how that measures up to others. Others can carry what opinions of his actions and abilities, but their praise or insults largely don’t matter. He understands his own self-worth completely, without false pretenses. This same insight extends to other people, letting him build people up and mentor them, or cut them down in equal measure. His self-doubt has passed as well, a large measure of confidence taking its place. Not that he cannot make mistakes, but the time for dwelling endlessly on whether or not it is right for him to do something is gone. In mistakes can one find valuable lessons- both for himself and for others.
He hasn’t lost his human touch entirely though. Although he no longer looks at things from the same viewpoint as them, he’s far more capable of having fun now than he was before. Sometimes mischievous, often sarcastic, and with a bad sense of humor to match, Value is no longer shackled by his past or depression and far more capable of having a good time. Because of this he’s far more willing to laugh and make merry than before, indulging in his hobbies or simply living for the sake of doing so. He may be still slow to anger, but the consequences of that anger are far more likely to be imposed. Those people who knew him as Takua he is largely still attached to, loyal even though he is no longer the same person. That isn’t to say he isn’t interested in helping them too, in fact even more so than others- for better and for worse, as his help isn’t the same anymore.
His morals have changed. Value is capable of great darkness in order to help someone learn something, so long as the lesson is worth it. Parents may die so that a child learns to be independent or to free them from suffocating strictness, a favorite pet kidnapped to remind them not to take it for granted. This is rare though- far more often his lessons are softer. Value understands the place and time for those harsh reminders from life that can impart the greatest development. It’s watching others grow and change that gives him the greatest pleasure, but Takua still knows that it’s the nature of change to falter and stumble. By the same token, his attempts to help people see what they actually have wanted and the values behind them are given in to the coldly ambitious and the altruistic in equal measure. He won’t, however, defend their actions. If they truly believed in what they were doing, then they can defend it. Similarly, the reprisals they may earn as their own responsibility...even if they come from him.
His smaller joys, though, start with his love for tailoring. After so long being blind and creating clothing to perfectly match a person’s figure, he can finally add color to his repertoire. Working with cloth is a relaxing, even downright pleasurable activity. Something about the way it demands his attention appeals to him, with the devil in the details and a need to match every garment to the person. Not that he needs to make fancy clothing- jeans and garish shirts are just as fun to make as a bridal gown or celebrity’s latest fashion statement. Unsurprisingly you can also find him buried in a library, catching up on several centuries worth of literature he missed by being blind, and diving headfirst into the net and development of computers.
Concept of Reality
Concept: ValueValue is complicated, but can be neatly segmented into two parts. The first related to how people value something, and the second is an object's value in relation to the concepts it is attached to. Value is always subjective to a soul, and what that soul values depends entirely on them. Because of that, his Concept cannot change this. An object's value, though, has no such restriction.
The first part of his power is to understand what someone values. This can be a favorite toy, a memory, the concept of justice, a dream, and far far more. The whole, shifting array of what someone values is available for him to see...and also then to see where they have gone astray, and have not yet understood. Values conflict, and people often lie to themselves about how much something really means to them. Value offers no judgment as to someone's values, only the degree to which they act according to them or understand them. This is akin to how Takua did his best to ignore everything Severance did, despite it acting against his own values, because he was afraid. By understanding those values, Takua can help to guide someone to understanding the difference between what they are doing and what they would truly want.
The second part of his power is the ability to adjust the value of anything to an idealized perfection or flawed failure, and the whole of the range between. Whatever that thing is meant for, whatever image that object evokes, Takua can take to its most logical extreme. The wall of a house built seventy years ago, paint peeling off its decaying sides, is brought to its pinnacle as a creation meant to stand against the elements and protect those inside. And suddenly this aging wall is able to withstand the mightiest of Cero or Hado, weathering their assault unscathed. Or it can be brought down to nothing, no more effective against that same assault as a gate of straw before the hurricane. However, it must remain within the concept for an object. A pen is unable to block a sword because it’s conceptual purpose does not encompass blocking a sword, no matter how many people have repeated the saying, “The pen is mightier than the sword.”
In exchange for this power, however, Takua can no longer tell people what they need to learn. The lesson is worth far less unless they realize it for themselves. He can lead that horse to water, he can show them whatever he wants, but he cannot change them himself. Only they can choose to drink.
Form: When unleashing his Concept, Value’s eyes fill with molten lava, much akin to looking at the surface of the sun. A pair of wings emerge from his back, made entirely of golden flame instead of possessing a medium such as feathers. His hair becomes starfire, throwing flares of multicolored flame as it leaps from his head. It shoots back several feet, twisting and twirling in perpetual movement even while he remains still. Cracks break across the rest of his body, scars carved into bronzed skin in pure glowing white. They light up from underneath, truly shining and illuminating the surroundings. They grow more and more concentrated as they get closer to his chest, culminating in a immense scar of shimmering light directly over where his heart should be.
The scar is visible thanks to the clothing he wears, an immaculately fitting mandarin collared duster in deep gold that’s open in the front. It’s held by a sash around his waist of lighter gold, nearly transparent against the darker hue of the duster. Underneath the jacket is a simple white button down shirt, with the top four buttons left undone. A sleek set of deep red trousers are tucked into golden leather boots, burning wisps in the shape of wings flaring from the back.
