I would like to add that this update was reviewed and edited with the assistance of the 'Update Preview Team', who provided an enormous amount of editing assistance, discussion, and honest review for the process.

Created this in the update discussion area while we were discussing. Some of the numbers might be a little off, but this is a rough listing of the change in GP on a person-by-person basis from the change to Milestones. While the list that Toki posted should be the primary source, this can help steer the discussion with actual data, rather than pure speculation as to what players MIGHT be getting.
The raw rei change section and two after it are based on if all new GP were spent on reiatsu. Not saying everyone will( or should) do that, just using it to show a standard 'power gain' to reference.

Only one person, Shinkiro, gets shot from sub-300 to over 300 with this, though Walkren also has a pending GP claim that will bump him to that level as well.

Better to just use the conversion table in the update

I'd also like to declare that, in the interests of fairness, I will -not- be adding my new GP number to my retirement total. I'll be treating Tokiyo like this update did not happen.
I like it, even if you waited for me to post a milestone with old numbers before making this live. Solid work lads.
Your base GP will be converted and your current milestone will be ruled under this update. There is no downside to having submitted a milestone prior to this update, whether they have been reviewed or not.

I think we'll have a lot of people slamming into walls, but for those just starting out this will be a nice leap forward. Gonna get real cozy at the prestige/second release levels.

Just posting here as a PSA, don't take Murat's table for solid numbers. Remember that he can only see what's available in your app, so if what your app has is wrong, then his calculations are thrown off.
If I submit threads for one, can I use those threads for Prestige later on? This has been the thing that had bothered me for a while now.
The same with LCs.
Yes you may. The only times you may NOT use threads twice, are as follows.
1) Threads cannot be considered part of more than one Milestone. Only Milestone. You can double dip them for Prestige, Second Power, or Post Prestige.
2) A thread which contributes to a Mastery request, may not be considered for GM of that same skill. However, threads can be used for multiple skills! So if you submit a thread for Mastery in Blut, you cannot then also submit that same thread as evidence you deserve GM Blut.

What about the LC - Milestone interaction. How does that work?
And also, concerning Masteries, I have seen some people try and get a GM right off the bat, without going for a Mastery first. How would this work exactly?
To me, milestones have always been intimidating. And I managed to prestige two characters. I am glad to see that we are taking steps to encourage ppl to try their hand at them more often.
I am, however, unsure about the free GP. Didnt we adjust the Reiatsu cost specifically to keep ppl in the lower brackets longer for several reasons? Won't this counteract that problem and create multiple Kasumi/Hazukis, where you sit at 300 Rei with thousands of GP banked that you cant spend? Or is the intention rather to help people move characters through their lifecycle quicker, and not have them be stuck with characters for X years as they try to figure out an appropriate ending given the time they have invested?

I haven't read this through completely yet due to being in work but milestones have always seemed a huge hurdle to me, I've been here a year (admittedly on and off) but have yet to do one for poor Aidan.
The idea that they've been made more approachable is very welcome and I'll certainly be tackling this sort of thing to get Aidan on his way properly.

Reiatsu costs were adjusted for that reason when we had firm mechanics, yes. And it came up (and was really the focus of discussion) that this would cause several people to hit a wall just as you mentioned. I'll try to explain the reasoning but I apologize, as I am attempting to condense a pages long discussion on something that involved an awful lot of points of view.
Encouraging people to learn to storytell, and get better as writers, has always been our number one goal. You can absolutely thread for the sake of threading and advance in that way, but the paths to "power" have always been gated by story. Second, Prestige, and Post-Prestige are feats of reason and execution, not thread count. So, we have a ways to go (even after this update) to continue to get people to think about how to advance themselves via story, rather than just....letting them thread until they figure it out.
Essentially, it's our goal to change the way of thinking to be one that teaches people how to advance systemically, rather than just by passing down second hand knowledge from person to person to person in chat or via PMs. New players shouldn't have to rely on older players talking stuff out with them. It should absolutely be PART of it, but not as big a portion as it is now. Shifting Milestone focus like this is one of the steps to doing that.
Unfortunately, this will shove some people into that 300 wall. But, given this is a move for the future and will benefit anyone who has never Milestoned (or done just 1-3 of them), and every player who has yet to create a character, the 'greater good' of benefitting all of them outweighs the lurch forward for a few players today.
I understand that's an awful spot to be in, and I am sorry. But I am personally here in any way, shape, or form to help you get over that 300 hump if you need it. I sincerely mean that. The whole site has your back.

LC's and Milestones are the same thing. You obviously cannot LC the same thread twice, but any thread that you LC can absolutely count for a Milestone as well, or be included in Prestige, Post-Prestige apps, etc.
Re: your second question. This is very difficult because it's highly personal. This is most often done when people make a character that must be DEFINED by that skill, and they also go for the GM very early. It also becomes clear that the point of their threads is effectively just to GM that skill. It's a converging of goals to pull this off and it's very awkward to do, but a motivated person can be very clever. We're beyond the scope of this change now, so if you want to talk more about this, hit me up in Discord or send a PM please.
I've, fortunately, managed to leave the 300 wall behind me. I wouldn't mind booking an appointment with a certain well dressed gentleman though in order to tackle other issues.

As politely as possible to my other thread partners, you would have an express elevator to slot #1 in my queue
