Panchi, Doji
Biologically an Echt Quincy, Ex-Champion Boxer, Current Vigilante
[ AT A GLANCE ]
Age / Apparent Age: 21
Gender: Male
Height & Weight: 6 foot 1 inch, 183 pounds
Hair & Eye Color: Doji's hair is a matte black, and his eyes stand out as a dark hazel.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Positive Traits:
Resourceful - Doji's street smarts and instincts are honed to the highest levels, allowing him to come up with a way to get out of sticky situations on the spot. If you're against the wall, pinned with a knife to your throat: don't be.
Persevering - Doji tends to take the harder way out of things, and even when the odds are stacked against him in both life and battle, he keeps pushing himself forwards. Get knocked down, stand back up again. Get killed? Walk it off.
Outgoing - Doji is a social creature, somebody who will go out of his way to make friends and join in on conversations. Hey, I'm the life of the party for a reason. No point being able to talk if you don't.
Negative Traits:
Perverted - Doji, since a young age, has always been somewhat of a prude when it comes to women, and this shines through into both his humor and general day to day actions. I don't hesitate to indulge in my own rather sexual interests: it leads me to wild and exciting places, like Karakura Town, and Jacksonville!
Arrogant - As somewhat of a side effect of his perseverance, Doji believes that he can and will get out of any situation, and this belief leads him to reckless behavior. Better to take a hard punch and throw one back ten times harder than whiff your own punch and get hit without a chance at retaliation.
Self-Sacrificing - Though inherently a good thing to be, this once again tends to put Doji in mortal danger more often than not, as he values the lives of others more than his own. I'd rather die saving one hundred lives than watching one hundred people die so my life can be saved.
Insecure - Doji isn't sure who he is or who he's supposed to be. His powers confuse even their wielder, and it bothers him that in a fight against a normal man, he has a distinct advantage due to his blessed physical body and spiritual powers. He wants a fair fight, but with his circumstances, that's hard to come by. I'm not really sure who or what I am, I just know that I'm different, and that those differences are what have kept me alive and keep me on the run at the same time.
Loyalties: Himself and the people of Karakura Town.
Snapshots:

As his parents fail to defeat the hollow, a desire to save their endangered lives kicks in, activating Doji's true powers as human spiritualist, and enhancing his physical strength greatly. Despite killing the hollow and saving their lives, his parents are disgusted with his new powers and on the spot disown him.

[ ON THE SURFACE ]
Physical Description: Doji is blessed with matte black hair that forms thick and highly clumped strands, each of the strands melding together into little black knives that meld together across Doji's head. The slick and oily feel of it causes most light to reflect off of his head, almost like a black mirror. As for the rest of Doji, things get a little less monochromatic. His head retains a rounded triangular shape, and all across it are faint dirt marks present from days long past. His eyes are a dark hazel, much unlike the majority of Quincy, as they tend to have blue or green eyes, hinting towards their normally European heritage. The eyes aren't deep, and retain a flat color without much intermission throughout the whole eye. His eyes fit right into his sockets, not sinking or bulging out whatsoever, but simply just lying there. They are wide eyes, like a pair of sideways ovals, and tend to fit the long and and thin mold that most Asian people have their eyes associated with for the most part. His face is rather average in size, and his jaw is quite exposed, his jawline throbbing outwards in a very obvious manner. Once again this fits his Japanese body type very well.
The rest of Doji's facial features are rather unremarkable, like his incredibly petite nose, fitting his normally Japanese body very well. His lips are a dark pink, and curve upwards ever so slightly when relaxed, however the majority of the time, one can expect to find very polar expressions on Doji's face. A great big smile, or a grim frown, riddled with the insecurity hidden within. As for his upper body, Doji is incredibly muscular, and not slim by any means. He really does fit the bulky boxer description on first sight, and when shirtless, this shows even more. His pectorals, arm muscles, and abdominal muscles are incredibly defined and toned, displaying themselves very evidently in a far more American way than you would expect, contrasting very oddly with the normally petite and detailed features marked by his Asian heritage. Doji is also incredibly tall for a Japanese man, standing at a towering 6 foot 1 inch, with a pair of shoulders as broad as the larger side of a barn. His upper body alone leaves him with an incredibly imposing demeanor, allowing him to intimidate people very easily, yet also giving him a very hearty, partying viking-like feel when he is relaxed.
Finally, the lower parts of Doji's body are just as equally defined as his upper body, his legs decorated with thick and muscular calves and bony knees, and his hips hidden among a thin layer of fat developed to protect against gut-punches. What covers his lower body as well as his upper body tend to be very simple garments, usually consisting of a mono colored, design-less T-shirt or tank top, and some kind of mesh sport shorts. His shoes are rather dusty and old, as he only brings one pair around with him. They are worn and beat up Nike Freerunners, and have served Doji very well over the past couple of years.
Now, we reach Doji's voice. This is a rather hard thing to put into words in the case of Doji, as, his voice is very standard. It isn't high pitched or low pitched in particular, just an average voice. There's nothing special to it, no accent, and no fluctuation. He speaks like your average young adult, and uses a rather street-based vocabulary littered with foul language and slang. He speaks steadily, and makes sure not to rush through sentences, as he believes that any words worth speaking are words worth being able to listen to and understand.
Spiritual Description: Doji's reiatsu floats around him in a usually calm aura of light blue, floating around him in a sphere. It effects the average person in very small ways, and when people enter it, they generally receive little more than an unnoticeable jolt to their senses. In this state, he has very little emotion present in his reiatsu. Not only this, but to further this "disinterested" feeling about his energy, Doji's reiatsu is generally without any scent whatsoever. However, this all changes once he enters combat, or any other tense situation. His reiatsu immediately blasts outwards into an agitated mess of a blob surrounding him, and unlike it's previous, very benign state, it actively assaults other people, causing a great feeling of straight up pressure to overcome most people. The energy also gains a scent, the smell of a hot crackling fire, representing the great turmoil inside of Doji during the majority of his time while he is not relaxed. Like a flame, his reiatsu changes shape, and flickers in and out around him very intermittently.
[ BEHIND THE EYES ]
Personality: It's not unfair to assume that a professional championship boxer is cocky, and in some cases, even just a straight up asshole. However, unlike Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, the "Champion's Arrogance" inside of Doji is more of a lifestyle than a personality trait. In Doji's mind, every punch he takes is an opportunity to hit back twice as hard, and each risk he takes is just one more fun memory for the books. He doesn't believe in failure. This may be because of his own overconfidence in his spiritual abilities, or the fact that he really does seem to succeed in most of his dangerous or house-stacked endeavors. Of course, this being one of his underlying parts of his being does have its downsides. For example, sometimes, he does certainly fail. Jumping across buildings for the sake of having a few kicks does have it's obvious risks attached, and once in a while, the only thing that Doji remembers from such experiences is the pain associated with a broken rib or two. He's lucky enough to have a superhuman body to protect him from the majority of normally lethal injuries, but of course, the bitter reminder that these injuries leave him with is one that screams: "YOU WOULD BE DEAD IF YOU WERE NORMAL" into the loudest caverns of his mind.
That brings us to another point of Doji's personality, one which is incredibly important. He just doesn't feel normal. Despite his outgoing nature and very comedic, if not rather manic way of life, Doji is a highly insecure person. His moods fluctuate greatly depending on the situation without a moment's notice, and overall, he's just very iffy about his stance in reality. He fights hollows like enemies, and feels spiritual pressures all around him and throughout Karakura, but he is unsure what or who they are coming from. His powers are a mystery to even him, and because of this unnatural sensitivity in his life, Doji finds himself being forcefully friendly, going out of his way to make friends and talk to others. In his mind, if he doesn't, they'll abandon him like his parents did, and see him as a freak.
Without any substantial tutelage on the subject, he's got a very cursory knowledge of what goes on in the spiritual world. He knows about the Quincy to some degree, but even they are shrouded in a cloak of mystery to a decent extent. This creates some form of spiritual naivety inside of Doji. To give an example, he knows that normal humans can't see ghosts, hollows, and the "people in black" (his personal name for shinigami), and that only special humans like him, including quincy, can do exactly the opposite. He also knows that hollows eat people's souls. ...That's really it.
The whole world of the dead is a mess to him, and he understands none of it. This just furthers his confusion, as he wonders: "Do I belong surrounded by those who are no longer living, or the people who walk the streets of the present?". This desire to understand who he is, and to comprehend the world around him also causes a desire to protect the unknowing and hapless individuals who fall prey to people like thugs, and hollows to be instilled inside off him. Doji believes that by saving other people, he does himself a service by giving himself some kind of purpose in life, allowing him to stop the self searching for a while, a welcome intermission, no matter how brief they tend to be in his life. Using his powers for something, rather than being afraid of them is almost therapeutic for Doji, though it can sometimes lead to him getting injured. The self sacrificing nature of a hero found it's way into his heart after a short while of being in the business, and it can certainly get him injured.
Now we get to some of the lighter aspects of Doji's personality. To kick things off, lets revisit the naturally fun loving aspects of Doji, starting with his rather perverse and womanizing nature. The fame and fortune surrounding his boxing status certainly did get to his head more than once, and this led to multiple hot, sweaty nights in a hotel room, or maybe the occasional apartment. This doesn't mean he's the most successful romantic alive though. Doji's love life has been littered with failures and fuck ups like any other honest man will admit about his own romantic adventures. He'll take his little crushes a little too far sometimes, "accidentally" finding himself peeping through a window more than once in his life, and occasionally walking in on a routine change of bodily garments. Luckily enough, he's never been caught doing such scandalous things, but really, this is quite a notorious piece of knowledge surrounding him. If you're friends with Doji, expect to know this within a day of meeting him: trust me, it isn't hard to tell.
Following along with the trend set by Doji's perverted adventures, Doji is (rather obviously) quite the outgoing human being while in the company of other people. Surrounded by the normal, Doji has resolved to talk to others and make friends, as he believes this is a great way to avoid the lonely feeling his powers have instilled into his life. The term "life of the party" does truly fit Doji, as he'll walk into a room and start having fun or talking to another person (generally a cute girl) within a few seconds. Beers on the house, everybody!
Finally, we reach the most redeeming part of Doji's personality. His persevering and resourceful nature. Against stacked odds, not only will Doji believe that he can find a way out of a seemingly impossible situation, but he'll use his accumulated street smarts and combat hardened brain to calculate the best way out of said situation. His body allows him to enact the craziest of plans, and his brain is only limited by what he thinks is possible. This constant persevering nature and resourcefulness has been the one thing to keep Doji alive in his many near-death experiences. His life on the streets as a child, his resilience to punishment developed in the dog pit that was the ring, all of this contributes to who Doji is.
Goals & Achievements: Doji has very few material goals in life, but when it comes to his own personality, there is much he wants to explore. Doji aspires to understand both his power and his spiritual gifts, along with the rest of the spiritual world in a far more organized manner. As of now, he really doesn't know much, and his life is a mindless grind of hollow fighting, heroics, and backaches developed by sleeping on rock hard mattresses. Doji needs to find out more about who he truly is in the grand scheme of things before he can really begin searching for his true passion in life, so for now, he fulfills himself by helping the weak.
[ GUARDIAN ANGEL ]
Weapon of Choice: His fists. Really, that's all there is to it. Doji can't swing a sword or shoot a gun with any great skill, he just takes hits and dishes them out. Outside of this, he carries a Quincy Cross around his neck, but it no longer sees any use, a mere relic to remind him of the past that should have been.
Power: Doji's power is in comparison to his weapon... less simple. A great aid to his combat geared life, Doji has the ability to view the ebb and flow of reishi, reiryoku, and reiatsu inside of and around any living thing, as well as read it's physical condition and movements in depth. He can take note of the concentrations of energy in one spot and read the muscle movements of an individual, allowing him a form of very rudimentary attack prediction. He can medically analyze a person, if you will, allowing him to detect disturbances in a person's energy and see where said disturbances are coming from. If you're sick and need a diagnosis, just step right up, and Doji's got you covered.
If somebody has sinus congestion for example, he can tell this by using his power, as he notices a disturbance in the sinuses. As this power ranks up, it becomes more precise, rising from general assessment of the body and it's condition to a full on spiritual MRI and Xray built into Doji's body. Intentions, sickness, medical conditions, really anything you could imagine seeing is something he can see with enough practice. This also aids him when he needs to do a patch job on somebody who has been injured. If a bystander breaks a bone because of one of his fights, Doji can easily locate such a thing and with his own healing skill, usually mend the injury.
[ LEGACY CREATED ]
Origin Part 1: Welcome to the Universe
Our story begins in Tokyo, Japan. In a white walled Hospital, in a regular delivery room, life goes on as it has for thousands of years. A pale skinned Japanese woman of age 25 gives birth to a beautiful baby boy, a wailing, bloodied bundle of joy, tufts of black hair lining his head. Just outside of the door is a man with black hair and a lighter, more colorfully beige skin tone. He is a man of German/Japanese descent, and inside the room of which his back rests on the door of, his child has just been born.
A faint smile cracks across his face hears the boy's very first scream for air. He can sense the released tension in the room, emanating not only from his wife of 2 years , a woman he believes to be the most beautiful thing he has ever seen and will ever see. Then, he walks in and realizes he is wrong. His son, freshly covered in a coat of blood and his own first tears is handed to him the instant he walks into the room, an umbilical cord waiting to be cut from what will become his son's belly button. At first, the man has a look of terror, unsure of how to hold his newborn son, wrestling with his own hands and making sure to do all the things he read about in those parenting books his wife forced him to read: Boy is he glad he listened to her.
Support the neck.
Cradle the legs.
The umbilical cord is cut, a smile finding itself once again on the man's face. As he swaddles the boy in a white stock blanket provided by the hospital, he picks his son up once more, eyes looking down at the wailing face that is slowly beginning to ease into the universe, the screams starting to quiet.
The eyes look back up at him, and it is in that very moment that the man realizes his live will be changed forever, because he is a father. As he hands the child to it's mother for the first time, her face red and blood rushing through all of her veins, she looks down at the child's face, her own face moving through the same expressions her husband's had just a few moments ago.
Caressing him as the tears on her cheeks dry, a great smile hits her face, as she realizes that she is now a mother, and her life has been changed forever.
Then, the child's screams finally quiet as he opens his eyes for the first time, big black orbs staring up at their creators. It is because he has realized, even before he can talk, or realize that he's a human being, that he is part of a family, and he has two people to protect him forever.
The couple look at him for a little while longer, and then they begin to move their mouths, making unintelligible sounds. The newborn boy cannot understand them, until one word seems to find it's way into his brain.
"Doji."
The first few years go by without any kind of stunt, ages 1, 2, and 3 rushing by like the wind on a summer day. Mommy and Daddy are always around, though sometimes, Daddy goes off to a place called "work" with a funny thing around his neck and shiny tubes attached to his belt. When this happens, he disappears for a short while. Sometimes for a day, sometimes for a really, really long time that Mommy calls a "week". Doji plays with toys, and talks to his parents, and sometimes, he hears sounds that other people don't hear.
When he gets put to bed, sometimes he tells Mommy about what he hears, the creaking sounds and the voices, to which she laughs, and whispers to Doij, "Sometimes, I hear them too." and then cracks a smile, tucking him in.
She isn't lying.
Suddenly, school rolls around, and for the first time in his life, Doji feels a little bit afraid to do something. So, after a talk between Mommy and Daddy ,and a "try-out" year of kindergarten, 5 year old Doji rolls out of school just as fast as it rolled around! His parents now teach him everything. Mommy teaches him all about the numbers, even the big ones, like one hundre...one hundred! Daddy teaches him to write real good, in Japanese and in English, and he teaches him long words, like Mountain! And then, one day, after lots of studying, Doji walks up to his room and hears the strange voices again. They never went away, of course, but this time, Doji is done with letting them just echo off into the distance.
So he goes looking.
And looking more.
All around the house, he looks, trying to find the voice, until finally, he finds it.
Doji yelps at the top of his lungs as he sees something he didn't know existed: a ghost. A blue, whispy-looking character, it's body of the perfect likeness of a middle aged human male. Doji stands in awe, gazing upon it as it's eyes meet his, the ghost waving it's hand to say "Hello"!
His parents rush down the stairs, dust following them in their haste, but when the see what is going on, the duo take a deep breath. It's then that they realize they would have to have told Doji at some point, that they were people called "Quincy", both of them. Finally, he had come to the realization that there was certainly a world after death. Of course, the realization warranted nothing more than one scream and a very, very long stare that eventually concluded with Doji turning around to his parents, a smile wide on his face, a look of pure wonder.
That was the day Doji's parent's realized they would be making their son into a quincy sooner than they thought.
Rise to Power:
Call to Action: This is where you talk about the event(s) that made your character shift from an NPC to a player character. For whatever reason, they need to be pulled away from the daily grind and put into the spotlight. In this section, you’ll want to highlight that event(s) and justify why your character is they way they are today.
