So I made a thingy awhile ago, and now I made this thingy better. There is a link to the old thingy, in this new thingy at the top of the google spreadsheet document thingy.
BG Combat Mechanics
Here it is enjoy
Edit-Its now opened to being edited, in the first two tabs. You can change the yellow area's representing stats and skill level. But honestly, its just a easier visual way to learn the system, the math is rather easy.

- One day make this post talk about the chart in detail and how the story always trumps mechanics.
- State many times over until blue in the face that Mechanics should be used as a guideline and the story should be then used to flesh everything out (fights where you can't hit each other because you're equal in mechanics are boring spice it up! make it movie worthy!)
- To have the floor mopped of anyone's character. The mechanics have the ability to suggest this is possible, but again STORY! spice it up! Again just because you can mop someone or your ass beat up does not mean there can not be some story that benefits both players. Any excuses that suggest this isn't true should go learn how to become a storyteller. (hard true, Tough love <3)
- Mechanics have this thing called direct hit its used for its maths, but by god!! do never think it's okay to take a direct hit because the mechanics say you will live(unless story makes you unable to not take a direct hit) unofficial rule of thumb: unless for some reason a direct hit is minor or less.
- Certain skills and or custom skills have no way of interacting with the mechanics, and thus are story influenced! communicate with your thread partners, don't ignore the time and effort they have put into their character.
- Things like Hierro are an example of this, an unofficial rule of thumb is that this ability would give you +5-10 defense stat points per rank and thus would influenced your direct hit calculations in the above spreadsheet.
- Don't start threads with the intention of fighting others, because your mechanics say you will win. Because frankly, Your role-play ability and your OOC co-operation with your threaders is the biggest way to move forward and grow your character and get so many people wanting to thread with you. It's not if your character wins or loses, it's how well you roleplay when winning and losing!
- Blue in the face now: Role-play is not about having the OOC mindset that you want your character to win all the time. A character that always wins is as exciting as watching grass grow in a wet just painted picture!
- Will add more stuff when I can extract it out of my busy mind.
