As Levi strutted down the halls of Las Noches, his little charge in tow, it struck him how uncharacteristic this was for him. He had essentially volunteered to help this kid get acquainted with the queen herself, and for what? Because she entertained him? She wasn’t particularly powerful, she hadn’t showed any exceptional talent, she hadn’t really given him any reason to believe she would be of use at all. So what was he doing here with her?
Maybe it was just because there wasn’t much risk. What was the queen going to do? Blow him away from introducing her to a kid? Not likely. She wasn’t that type. Although... if Ai did do something foolishly immature... That could be embarrassing. It might even start a fight, potentially with an enemy that Levi did not want. Maybe this was a bad idea after all... Maybe Levi should just turn around and cero her into ashes before anyone realized he had brought her here...
Nah, the queen wouldn’t take too kindly to that. Besides, he was probably just worrying too much. Levi could only think of three people that he couldn’t take off the top of his head; Queen Eve, Octavia, and maybe the new Espada. The first two simply weren’t that vindictive, and the last... well, he hadn’t met that guy yet. Worst case scenario, Levi could always discipline the runt himself if she did anything stupid.
“You remember the ground rules, right?” Levi said as the two of them approached the throne room doors. “Don’t do anything stupid, don’t say anything stupid, and don’t contradict me.”
After confirming that Ai would behave herself, Levi opened the doors and walked through with his typical nonchalance. “Gooood morning!” he said cheerfully as he gave the queen a dramatic bow. “Or, you know, whatever the hell time of day it is.” He added with a shrug as he stood straight again. He didn’t particularly mind the eternal night outside or the eternal fake sunshine within Las Noches, but it sure did complicate greetings.
“Anyway, my queen, I would like to introduce you to Ai Shirai.” He gave the girl in question a pat on the back, lightly pushing her forward. “Ai, meet Eve Avana. The queen of Las Noches.”
