"No trouble!" he chirped. She wasn't a very good liar but the hollow smiled beneath his mask anyway. She was making an effort, at least. The hollow knew something wasn't right. He might not have known what exactly, or how to fix it but he wanted to. He felt bad for his friend, even if she did lie to him. True, the lie was an effort to prolong their playtime but she said this was her home. Why not rest? His little sacked feet caused plumes of sand to erupt in his wake as he trotted to catch up to Ai.
"Sure?" he questioned his friend, coming to stand before her. It's not that he was large enough to block her path, or anyone's for that matter, or that he'd even want to. Cayo wanted to get a good look at her, hopefully being able to find the root of his friend's problem so he could alleviate it. "Can tell if not. Is okay, promise!"
He moved closer to her, his feet nimbly moving within the confines of his sack. A scent permeated the air around her, something that tickled a sense beyond just his sense of smell. The scent he could identify, though, was almost calming. It reminded him of a distant memory just out of his reach and it was certainly not anything like the stink of the ill and dying that he'd so come to expect. He lay a gentle sack covered hand on the arm Ai had been cradling against herself in a soft kind of pat.
She was shockingly frail to the touch. Not that he was one to speak, mind you, but as much as he knew he was skin and bones she seemed to be too. It upset him slightly but the beast couldn't identify why. He couldn't feel any broken bones beneath his touch, nor could he sense any fractures or cracks in the bone. He hadn't seen her hit her arm on anything, so he wasn't quite sure why he even bothered to inspect it. Instinct, more than anything else was likely the culprit. Pushing himself a bit, he searched more of her body for anything that could have upset her.
What came back made his stomach churn. Her stomach was the one that was upset but the very feeling of how wrong it was made his upset in return. Turning from his hand on her shoulder to her face, Cayo frowned. "Tummy upset."
"You home." he gestured back to Las Noches behind them. "Rest?"
He didn't like the place, not one bit, but if she so chose he'd still accompany her on a tour through the structure. If she did want to rest, he'd at least make sure she got to her residence unharmed before he left himself. Either way he was bound to see at least a little bit of the huge castle.
