“Sir Isaac Newton...” Levi growled at dry air “you can take your first law of motion straight to hell.” None of the other laws of nature seemed to have any hold on spirits, so why was this one giving Levi so much trouble? He had been out in the desert for hours trying to perfect his new technique.
The “satellite bala” as he called it, was actually more of a style than a technique. In concept, it was simple enough; make the bala move slowly to allow more control. He called it “satellite” because several of them could be made to float in the air, ready to be used in their own ways at a moment’s notice. He had first used it against Kirito with an impressive display, and negligible effect. The problem was that a bala’s combat power was based almost entirely on its speed. Usually it would be shot from the body upon creation, and once it was made to float still, it took a few seconds and several yards to give it the same kind of momentum the default technique had. Furthermore, once he did speed them up, controlling them became difficult. He wanted to have both the control and the power at the same time, but the two seemed to contradict each other.
Unfortunately, this seemed to be the kind of problem that would only be solved through tedious practice. Therefore, Levi had spent the last few hours, and would likely spend the next few still, standing in the desert making bala dance like fairies in a cartoon.
Of course, even in its current state, the technique was far from useless. Levi had proven its versatility when he used it against Kirito, surrounding him once, and making the giant vortex the second time. Neither had worked though. Neither had had enough power. Flexibility was extremely important, but all the techniques in the world would do nothing without strength behind them.
He would have to take a bit of a break though. His pesquisa was picking up a rather large, and equally familiar, reiatsu signature approaching. With a curious hum, Levi allowed the bala he had been working with to dissipate. He couldn’t place the name, but he was sure he knew this hollow from Las Noches. It would be rude to ignore his visitor, especially one who had walked all the way out here to find him. He needed a break anyway.
With a burst of static, he was standing in the air, at eye level with the Gillian king, Cazador. He had never properly met the old king, but there were few in Las Noches who did not know him by reputation. Some still called him the rightful king. Levi, of course, addressed him with all the respect he was due.
“Sup.” He said with a wave and a friendly smile. “Out for a moonlight stroll?”
