With every passing event Alexandra was becoming more and more aware of how the world truly worked. In less than a month everything she had been chasing after so far had been thrown into her lap. Information, connections, details and knowledge about traditions, the ‘ghosts’ and their nature, the Quincy, their enemies and the reasoning behind the potential hostility. There seemingly was no end to the discoveries she was making, and she was certain that there would be even more of those in time.
For now, however, she had to pay attention to her training and make sure that the Hollow-breeds she came across wouldn’t get away from her arrows. Calling for help in order to deal with the monsters wasn’t an idea she liked, but the young Quincy knew that should things become dire she wouldn’t really have much of a choice. She was too weak to deal with anything stronger than a basic Hollow, hence, she only chased the ones she knew she could take on – the others were left for more experiences Quincy or the oddly clad Shinigami.
Where some of her fellow Quincy didn’t like the idea of letting Shinigami ‘do their job’, Sasha still believed that the two races could co-exist. Of course mistakes were made here and there, but to hate each other through and through was something so primitive. Whatever slip ups the Shinigami had, the Quincy could clean up and everyone would be better off. Safer. Yet, due to some mysterious reason, many didn’t see cooperating possible.
Feeling slightly frustrated by the thoughts alone, she shook her head to get rid of the heavy feeling which always shrouded her whenever she tried to figure out the dynamics of her ‘race’. A sigh escaped her lips and the sensation of a Hollow-breed nearby saved her from any more musings about politics.
Whatever the creature was it was annoyingly fast and left Sasha panting as she crossed another street in one of Tokyo’s suburbs. She had left Karakura behind – a place she had grown more or less familiar with by now. This, this area was new. It didn’t take her long to realize that she was already lost, again. However, the stubborn Quincy didn’t plan to give up on her hunting already. Now that she was here she had to put her time to good use and make the world a tiny bit safer by getting rid of the fallen soul.
It was close.
She could feel the oddly cold aura on her skin; it gave her goosebumps. With some effort she managed to ignore it mostly because of the evening breeze. Of course a part of her felt threatened; it wasn’t natural, or at least not to her, to be hunting down predators twice her side. No matter what the others had told her it still felt like playing with fire.
Fire
The memory was disturbing enough to have Alexandra stopping dead in her tracks. By the time – some seconds later – that the thoughts had worn off the beast’s signature had vanished in thin air.
“Damn it!” She growled, kicking a nearby can to show her frustration.
