The group moved through 'Appears Closing' through 'Cross Hands' and finally finishing off with 'Closing'. Feng grinned at the men and women in front of him, they were all Shinigami with varying levels of injuries and noticeably all were out of uniform instead wearing loose clothing provided by the hospital they were currently staying in.
"Very good." Feng told them with a grin as he stood tall with his hands clasped behind his back. "You are all progressing quite well. Keep up the practice, it's good for your health but just be mindful of whatever injuries you have. I don't need any angry healers coming after me for undoing their hard work."
Chuckles came from his students as they filed out of the room. Feng waited until they were gone before falling backwards to lean against the wall, his breath coming out hard as he grimaced in pain. The Shinigami had been stuck in the Seireitei General Hospital
under the care of the 3rd Division's Healers ever since his encounter with that murderous Quincy, he'd been lucky to survive at all apparently as the weapon he'd been shot with was something called a Seele Schneider which were apparently exceptionally dangerous to beings made of Reishi. As lucky as he was the healing process was still taking a long time and out of sheer boredom he'd requested of one of the Hospital Staff that he be allow to practice his martial arts and the response had been only if he was careful and it was low energy. As such Feng had found himself practising Taiji Quan as he went through the forms slowly in an attempt to retain technical skill without straining himself too much however what he had no been expecting was just how many other patients were just as bored as he.
Within a week Feng had half a dozen students requesting that he teach them the movements he was practising, the majority of them were familiar with the concept of Tai Chi if not the actual practice. Teaching anyone the traditional form would be a waste of time over such a short period of time so instead he focused on showing them the short forms which had been designed as a health based exercise. Or at least he began to before being shouted at by a nurse and he quickly put through a formal request to be allowed to teach such the patients. A few days later approval came so long as they individual patients were cleared by their Doctors.
So for the 2 or so months Feng had been out of action and stuck in the hospital but at least the past few weeks had allowed him to get some enjoyment through teaching. That being said no matter how low impact Tai Chi was it was still exhausting for the Feng although he hid it in front of others. The wound on his chest had most healed, at least visibly, but it still ached constantly. He had been assured this would pass in time though.
Feeling steadier after a few calming breaths the Shinigami walked out into the hallway when a voice cut through the silence of the Hospital. A woman was calling out for the members of the Third to listen that she was challenging the current interim leader of the Division, the Third Seat Shigure Takanashi.
'Shigure? That was the man who saved my life after the Invasion.' he thought to himself, it was the same healer he'd planned to meet up with to thank but his promotion to the Third Seat had made it impossible for a mere recruit from outside the Division to manage to get himself an appointment without an official reason.
Running outside with the other patients Feng found himself amongst the crowd that had gathered to watch the event. He saw a red haired woman surrounded by the gathering audience to witness the event and guessed this was the challenger. A few moments later Shigure himself arrived and began addressing the crowd. Feng frowned as he called her Bonnet-San and glanced back at the woman, that name was familiar....yes she had been at the Kidō club right? A Hadō specialist called Mirabelle Bonnet with flaming red hair.
There was some back and forth between the two which Feng wasn't really qualified to comment on although while a pure Kidō fight made sense in some ways for the Division of Esoteric Spellcasters it seemed a bit limiting for someone who would win the position of acting Captain. Feng was aware that Captain Walkren had vanished but wasn't there still a Lieutenant? He didn't understand why that man didn't just take over until a proper Captain was selected by the Commander.
Things grew tense and the crowd worrying about their safety dispersed to the edge of the courtyard, Feng took position in a doorway being ready to duck inside should a spell come his way. The audience, Feng included, went quiet as they waited for the pair to begin.
