Each second, each moment, each minute, each hour, slowly got to Chie as she tolerated the world around her. Over the sound of her quieted breathing she paid careful attention to the world around her, each sound, each sensation, trying to find some sense of peace as she found turmoil within her mind, and heard it from the outside world. She heard conversations among the staff of the medical personnel, varying from patient care to gossip, each more getting duller than the last until she felt like she was listening to a broken record. Her nose was greeted with the typical scent of cleaning products a hospital uses, something she was sick of after spending a short amount of time in the hospital. Her tongue could still recall the horrid hospital food served; then again, it’s no worse than anything she’s eaten before either. Her sense of touch, felt the rays of light cascade on to her figure as she was sitting on her knees on the floor beside her bed.
Eyes closed with her zanpakuto rested on her lap while her elbows loosely pressed it in place as her fingers loosely made contact with her knees. Her shoulders loose as she let nothing tense her while not letting her thoughts get occupied as well. Internally, she was a wreck, as nothing seemed to be calm as soon as she let a thought go through her mind would rush around between trying to piece her life back together or make her question how strong she really is after the incident with her new captain, being taken over so easily. She was weak in more ways than one, and she realized that, if she wasn’t so afraid of change she would’ve come to the third sooner and found out about the tumor then, as to how it happened. Right now guilt was not what she needs, but meditation was not helping her as well.
Stretching out her spiritual muscles, she could feel the presence of those who stopped and stared occasionally, she could sense their confusion, their curiosity, and both with a sense of cluelessness as no one she met has figured her out, and lived. Her pale flesh glistened in the light as the scientist found it harder to focus in such brightness and thoughts slowly creeping as her eyelids started to move, the first sign of life she shown since this morning. Day in, day out, she ate during times when no one saw, no one sees her get into bed, and few hear her voice. After what she’s been through, no one wanted to say anything, wounds that were covered never heal, just get open to injury. By that, Chie is vulnerable as she never healed, just coated her wounds in layers of silence. Unable to distract herself from the world she let her mind drift in a limbo, waiting to collapse or drift off somewhere, to where she would never be disturbed again.
