Humans are weird.
Walking through the streets of Karakura no one paid attention the small arrancar. Normally, one might think that this was a result of Ai being an invisible spirit, but that was not the case as she currently inhabited one of Levi's gigai. No, the people all around her all seemed much more interested in their small rectangular screens of light or the oddly shaped bits of plastic in their ears. One of Levi's 'friends' had told her these things were cell phones and headphones respectively. Apparently, humans really liked the word 'phone'. Ai, on the other hand, didn't much care for it; everyone was always too busy to play a game or asked her where her parents were.
The past couple days had been, more or less, a crash course in every modern convenience one could think of. Cars, airplanes, flushing toilets, crosswalks, and the list could go on and on. Having spent the better part of two centuries sheltered in Hueco Mundo she had a lot to catch up on. Even the way she spoke caught people off guard as they claimed it sounded 'old'. Of course, none of this is to say that Ai did not enjoy every minute of her time in the human world. Sure, people often ignored and overlooked her, but there was something new to see at every turn and that more than made up for the boring humans.
"Let me in!" Ai demanded, banging loudly on the warehouse door.
For much of the day, she'd shadowed one of Levi's 'friends' as he went around collecting paper from other humans. This paper had people's faces on it along with numbers that varied from piece to piece. Humans seemed to really like this paper they called money and even Ai, after having ice cream bought for her, could see the appeal. However, now her escapade into the human world was over for the day and she had to return to one of Levi's bases of operations.
"What's the password?" The question issued from a small slit in the door.
"Uhhh..." Alas, 'uhh' was not the password and the small slit in the door disappeared.
Well, when in doubt knock harder and knock she did. Throwing her fists against the door she beat the metal door like a drum. It was only a matter of time before someone paid attention to her and let her in—it had worked the last three times she'd forgotten the password.
"Fine, fine, shut up already," a few locks clicked open behind the door allowing it to swing open. "Remember the password next time, little miss."
Sticking out her tongue at what amounted to a glorified bouncer, Ai skipped into the warehouse. Looking around she saw no sign of Levi save for the closed office door in the back of the warehouse where the taller arrancar often held his meetings. Approaching the door she stopped herself from simply pushing the door in. She'd learned her first day in the human world that not knocking was a very very bad idea. Rapping hard three times on the wooden door she waited. Little did she know that Levi was not the only one behind this door today...
