So many things had been going on since her return that Calendrea had to wonder if she would ever catch a moment to take a breath. She had plunged right in that night of the Gala and hadn't stopped since. While her grandfather had released her from his watchful gaze, sending her to Berlin as an instrument of his ploy for power, she was quite certain she would be arrested and banished forever from Aodh’s presence. That he had made her a Knight of The Order as well as his lieutenant was nothing less than astounding.
There had been no time to ruminate over her former teacher’s motivations for no sooner than she had been sworn in she was immediately put on security detail for the Gala. Either he really was just giving her a second chance or now he viewed her as a liability that he wished to keep close and under his watchful eye. She still wasn't sure how she managed to survive coming face to face with Murat, for her one time lover turned out to be one of the very Shinigami infiltrators for whom she was to be on guard.
Immediately she had been ordered to remove him for interrogation in what could have been a very compromising situation. At least the Sternritter had seemed pleased by all the information she had managed to acquire. Murat had surprised her in more ways than one, the biggest of which was his compliance in answering all her questions. While she had fulfilled her mission and acquired more answers than she ever could have imagined.
As she stood before the full length mirror and buttoned up the doublet of her uniform she felt the frustration of the precarious path she trod more than ever. An unsigned letter to her grandfather lay upon her desk waiting to be sealed within the envelope lying to the side and placed in the post. It was more of a progress report than anything, though it read like a doting granddaughter sharing the tale of her exciting new life at court than what it really was. She even had asked after his health, how the bird dogs were doing, and if her cousin passed the AP Calc exam. Hopefully he would be impressed with her current position enough to hold off on doing anything rash. Fastening the last button into place, she sighed not even recognizing herself much these days. So formal, and at this hour of the evening. It was best to be professional for now; The Order seemed to set quite a lot of importance on being in uniformed, at least here in the castle. Well, Freylief’s tarot card had indicated she was on the advent of great change where choices must be made. The trouble was in choosing right without totally becoming someone she was not.
After signing the missive, she stuffed it into the envelop and exited her room heading directly to Aodh’s. Although he had not requested to be kept informed in such great detail she preferred he take a look at the letter before sending it off. She was just very paranoid and wished to make sure he knew she was carrying out their plan to a ‘T’. Exiting her room, she set her thoughts to more important matters. There just wasn’t time in her life anymore, between her mountains of records she was sorting through and the training sessions with the new recruits, she just hadn’t been able to speak to Aodh during off duty hours. It was like they were always at work. That was precisely the problem and she hoped to corner him and force, if need be, some resolution between them. She was still unsure about how or if that was even wise, but someone had to do something or the Sternritter Birith was just going to burn himself out.
Having wound through the corridors with an unerring sense of direction, she tugged at the hem of her doublet to straighten it out and knocked at the door. Her voice was soft, considering the lateness of the day, but still loud enough to be heard through the door. “Aodh, are you in? It’s Calendrea…”, her words trailed off. That was enough for now. If he was there she certainly would have time to speak about what was on her mind.
