Snapshots:
[ ON THE SURFACE ]
Physical Description: He stands tall with an athletic build. His hair is cut in a high and tight, and face is clean shaven given him a very neat appearance. His muscle structure is still clearly defined, showing he's kept up with his physical training regimen from the military. His skin has a light tan to it, now that he's able to walk around in his civilian clothes. Being so big, Jack is pretty easy to spot, and with his signature smile and loud, commanding voice, he's hard to miss. He normally walks around with a set of Oakley shades, his baseball cap with an American flag patch on the front. His voice is loud, firm and clear. It also resonates in a bass that befits his size, most of the time being soothing in tone and volume.
For clothes, he'll wear a plain white t-shirt with blue jeans. He'll wear a pair of hiking boots, with a olive drab green baseball cap. The cap has an American flag patch on the front, and otherwise is plain. If he's riding his motorcycle, he carries a black motorcycle helmet, along with a black leather jacket. He has his Ranger tab sewn into the side of the jacket, and an American flag sewn into the right shoulder. He'll wear a set of black Oakley glasses which double as ballistic eye protection.
When he's "on the job" Jack wears an all black uniform, a combat top made of a blend of nylon and cotton with matching pants. He has knee pads and protective full finger gloves with both have hardened kevlar to protect his hands and knees. For body armor he has a plate carrier with SAPI (Small Arms Protective Inserts) plates and a soft underlay to protect against shrapnel and anything up to 9mm rounds. He however is working on a new suit of body armor that is lighter, and utilizes more hard plate protection while also using lighter fabrics to compensate for the increased protection. He wears a black fast ATE helmet, with a radio attachment that doubles as hearing protection, along with combat goggles.
Spiritual Description: His spiritual presence mimics his physical presence in that it is strong, warm aura that is meant to inspire confidence and comfort. It's a calming presence, and only shifts in the moment of battle when it will take a more fearsome heat, designed to inspire friends with the will to win, and demoralize the enemy. The red flame is large and pure, showing no imperfections as a representation of Jack's own spirit to bring a steadfast resolve where there is panic, and courage to those who are in fear.
[ BEHIND THE EYES ]
Personality: Honestly Jack is what most people would call a "good person". He cares about people in general. He feels because of his larger size, that means he has to be stronger and protect them. He has the attitude that if he can save one more life, especially when it's directly because he was able to neutralize a threat to those people, he feels compelled to act. He found that satisfaction being the military, striving to be an Airborne Ranger to have the greatest impact on the world. He's proactive, protective and does everything he can to help when someone asks. He thinks logically as possible, always striving to separate any decision making from his emotions. During his time in college, rather than party he would read text books and work out math problems in his Calculus books. Because of that he's learned to be a very good problem solver when it comes to things requiring math and science issues, but not so much with people.
The main vice of Jack's personality is he does his best to hide any of his anger, especially at the injustice he sees in the world. He internalizes it, bottling it up and trying his best to hide it from everyone. And he does this because he's afraid. He's afraid of people seeing him enraged, scared, or unsure. He's afraid of throwing his intellectual and physical might at a problem, and not having an answer. Or worse, finding out that he won't be able to fix that problem because he's never going to be good enough. In his mind, he has to be able to win any fight, anywhere in the world, otherwise someone else will get hurt. And that thought absolutely terrifies him. It's why he'll stop at nothing to figure out how to make himself stronger to fight hollows.
Goals & Achievements: Goals for Jack are simple. He wants to gain power and use that power to protect as many humans and people as possible. He wants to meet as many people as possible and get as strong as he can so he can protect as many people as we can. But he's also not entirely set on the Quincy way of protecting people. As far as he is concerned he has no qualms what-so-ever about how to protect people. He can either kill hollows or help purify them, it doesn't matter to him. Whatever protects the most people, the most effectively.
[ GUARDIAN ANGEL ]
Quincy Cross: Jack's cross is very simple, and an almost unassuming piece. It was a small wooden cross that he was "gifted" by his grandmother, a very religious woman, that for whatever reason he never threw away. This was something that he wore around his neck with a simple leather cord, until one day it broke, so he now has it on a chain next to his identification tags. The cross itself appears to be made out of a stained cherry wood, but has no imperfections on it, looking almost like it had been bought at a gift shop.
Power: Jack's ability is to channel the reishi around him into bolts of energy into weapons or use it to bolster his own attacks. This allows him to to use weapons he's trained on since he's been in the Army against hollows, but is more difficult for him to use without having something in hand to focus it through.
Spirit Weapon: A Swiss Saber that has a handle seemingly made from stained cherry wood, a basket hilt and blade that glow with a silver light. In his left hand will be a Sig Sauer P320 that also glows silver. He channels blasts from the pistol for ranged attacks, but can also use the reishi to enable his sword to cut through more materials, causing the blade to become engulfed in silver flames.
[ LEGACY CREATED ]
Origin: Jack was born to two Americans in Central Kansas. He grew up in a small town helping out at the family business. He would get bullied by other kids for his extremely large size, and how awkward and clumsy he was. This is where he'd learn his hate of bullies and people who would otherwise take advantage of someone else. He would go through high school, un-motivated by the lack of challenge in his studies, and would graduate in the lower half of his small class. From there he'd go to college, finishing a year before a fight with his family's matriarch would force him to leave the state. The fight started when he'd revealed to his parents his interest in men. Being the extremely religious and conservative group they were, they threatened him with violence to renounce the claims. Rather than lie to appease them, Jack left.
From there he'd work a few odd jobs before finally going to the Army. He would sign up as Infantry, being convinced that it would there leading other men on the battlefield, where he'd make the most difference. And the signing bonus helped get him moving quicker to Boot Camp. It would be there he'd be broken like every other soldier, and remolded into a fighting machine for the US Army. He would go to jump school and then immediately go to Fort Bragg. From there he'd volunteer for Ranger School. He'd meet one of the instructors there who would notice his drive and get Jack put into the selection immediately.
Rise to Power: It would be during Jack's time in Ranger Battalion that his powers began to manifest subtly. He began to see flashes, flows of Reishi. He didn't understand it and so he put it out of his mind while he focused on training. As a Ranger he worked hard to become a master of any weapon put in front of him, from the Beretta and Sig Sauer pistols, to the Carl Gustav recoilless rifle. He would become adept at marksmanship with all of these weapons. And it seemed like the harder he pushed, the more the flashes would come. He began to see people that shouldn't be there, heard whispers at Battalion of the lost ghosts of Regiments past. It would be his last deployment at the end of his enlistment that everything changed.
Call to Action: Jack was sent to Syria with a detachment of Rangers to assist in the Syrian Civil War. Their mission was to find and destroy the weapons of mass destruction being used against civilian and rebel population. In essence their mission was to end the war. They pushed hard into Syria, destroying the government forces that tried to stop them and blazing a path for the rebels to follow. Jack saw many grotesque scenes of death and destruction, and as such felt even more called to action to bring an end to the suffering.
And then out of nowhere it came. A single hollow feeding off the violence and death, ambushed Jack's platoon. The fear, followed quickly by the rage he felt as he watched the hollow first kill, then devour his brothers in arms, was overwhelming. This last surge is what finally unlocked Jack's ability and finally caused his spiritual weapon to appear. With it he killed the hollow. Jack would get pulled back for being one of the few survivors of the attack. He would finish out his deployment no longer being on the spear head of the Ranger assault. When he returned home, he knew that he couldn't stay. He would start arguing with superior non-commissioned officers, refusing to give ground to anyone when it came to doing something that wasn't right. It would be because of this uncompromising nature that Jack would finally be cornered into a discharge, one he would bitterly accept.
So Jack was back on the civilian market, working as security response for a few months before learning he could take up federal bounty hunting. This paid better, and he would actually be making a difference still in other people's lives as would now actively pursue criminals. And it would give him more free time to study his "gift". He would still pursue leads on where to find anyone who'd be able to help him learn more, because all he was learning now was trial and error.
