There's no other way, you know this right? No, there has to be another way! There isn't, so get over it. I can't, I'm not worthy to even walk in her footsteps. Oh will you just man up for god's sake? Yuudai sat on the ground in one of the open areas in the Fifth Division barracks. It was sort of a relaxation area, complete with trees to sit under for shade, which was what Yuudai was doing as he debated with his Zanpakuto, Museihei. You don't understand. She's so amazing at what she does that once she sees my ineptitude she would never take me on as a student. Museihei seemed to sigh within Yuudai's mind. You never know unless you try it, Yuudai. Besides, you're a great fighter. I'm sure she would gladly take you on as a student. The debate, which had been going on for some time now, was over whether Yuudai should petition Victoria "The Wolf" to be a student of hers. Yuudai was constantly striving to become better as a fighter, and had made steady progress. But, without an expert tutelage, he had stagnated. I know, but what if she laughs and mocks me? What if she thinks so little of me and my skills that she simply waves me away without a second thought? What will I do then? Yuudai sighed, his head falling back onto the trunk of the tree he had positioned himself under. I just don't know, Museihei.
An image of Museihei appeared in Yuudai's mind, one of the Zanpakuto smiling. Let me give you some ancient wisdom: yesterday is history, while tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That, my friend, is why it is called the present. Yuudai pondered this. I feel like I've heard this saying before. You probably have, it's a fairly popular zen saying. Yuudai chuckled, though it had a tinge of nervousness to it. I guess you're right. It's pretty foolish of me to presume what would happen huh? Museihei smiled and nodded, saying nothing back to Yuudai. Another sigh escaped from Yuudai's mouth, his eyes closed as his head drooped downwards. Then, a sharp inhale and a crack of his neck brought Yuudai back to life. Alright, here goes nothing.
Yuudai walked towards the office section of the Fifth Division headquarters. Yuudai was usually not the one to sweat under pressure, but this was a different case. Beads of sweat came pouring down his forehead, as Yuudai tried to maintain his breathing. One step at a time, Yuudai made his way over to Victoria's door, his breathing coming in staggered now. I'm not sure I could do this. Yuudai, what are you talking about? You've stared down numerous Hollow's on the battlefield without so much as an eye blink. Now you look as though you've been run through the ringer. Yeah well, my sense of pride is on the line, as well as my hope of being a stronger man. If this goes poorly, I might not ever achieve my dream. Museihei seemed to study Yuudai, before sighing and resuming his meditation.
Yuudai stopped at the doorway to Victoria's office, one she had automatically gained when she became the Iron Fist of the Fifth Division. Yuudai stared at the doorway, his fists shaking at his side. Come on, you can do this Yuudai. It's not like she'll kill you... Or maybe she will? Yuudai shook his head. No, that's stupid, that would be a crime... Just calm down; relax. Yuudai gathered himself, sitting down on his haunches, his knees to the ground. Bowing, Yuudai loudly announced himself: "Yuudai Takeshi, requesting an audience, ma'am!"
