[ ON THE SURFACE ]
Physical Description: Caramel skin is lightly pulled over a well toned, athletic body that speaks novels of the lifetime of training Luna has been through. Everything about her shines with health and, in a lot of respects, the diligence that goes into her daily routine. It’s to this regard that it’s very easy to tell she takes great pride in her appearance, going as far as to accent her well endowed assets and doing her best to keep her skin blemish free and neatly highlighted with just a dash of makeup.
A bored, distant glaze covers her bright, amber eyes, giving her a sort of “holier than thou” vibe. While her tone is generally pretty light and easy going, the half-lid stare she gives everyone makes many people mistake her as being insincere. Especially with how her long, white hair frames her face, occasionally falling over her eyes when she’s not careful to fluff them in the mornings. And even then, with the straight, thick locks reaching well past her buttocks, it tends to fall over her cheeks or mouth. The only exception is when she pulls it back in a high ponytail when she goes out to hunt.
When it comes to attire, she proudly wears her family’s Quincy uniform. The tight, white dress reaches down to just passed her knees and is embezzled with bright, light blue lines along the tailoring as well as reaching up to form a cross up her chest. The dress is held up by a thicker tabard. Though also white, the tabard is just a shade darker and is decorated by similar blue crosses. These three crosses are spaced evenly over the fabric, with the middle cross being significantly taller than the other two, and the side crosses being connected at the arms. This is the traditional symbol of the family.
Spiritual Description: Precise and constantly under control, Luna’s spiritual presence comes off as more of thin strings that connect her and the arrows she fires. This creates a web-like appearance around her body when she has multiple arrows summoned, though the thin strings are hardly visible unless in direct sunlight. Even when Luna is passive and not focusing her efforts on the arrows, the web-like strands waft about her slowly, softly, like stray spider webs in the breeze.
While her presence never comes off as terribly strong, or overbearing, there’s something about the subtle quietness of it that brings unease -- especially in the heat of battle. It never burns or wears down her opponents, letting them breathe easy and focus on the fight at hand. But to anyone who knows the first thing about hunting, it’s that silence is deadly.
[ BEHIND THE EYES ]
Personality: Strong, professional, and always level headed, Luna is the pride of the de la Cruz family and their strict, military upbringing shows through in the way she talks and acts. Always alert, always judging, always merciless, she never pulls any punches and while she knows not to talk out of line, she tends to have a sharp tongue. No corners are cut with her and when she sees a problem, she aims to fix it. Her determination and focus show through in every project she goes out to finish and her high standards leave little wiggle room.
Though affectionately called the "Wolf of the de la Cruz" due to her lone-wolf nature, Luna is just as much of a family person as her over-protective mom is. She'd go to the ends of the Earth for anyone in her family and very rarely questions them. Surprisingly, this bond doesn't extend to anyone else, really. She's quick to close doors in people's faces and, even though she loves them to death, doesn't often go out of her way to make her family an incredibly relevant part of her life aside from the ocassional phone call.
In a way, the lack of defined social skills she has makes her a very efficient hunter and fighter. She thinks ahead and plans her moves and traps with almost anal perfection. No trap, leaf, or even hair is out of line for her at any given time. To this extent, it’s not very hard to see where her priorities lie: doing her best at what she is. As a Quincy, she was raised to believe it is her duty to destroy Hollows and any other spirit that interferes with the Human world. She takes this motto very seriously -- almost to the point of it being really the only thing that sets her apart from the crowd. She’s a soldier in line and very proud of that fact. She loves what she does and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
That being said, she might love it a bit too much. While most Quincy are happy to just kill Hollows and quietly dislike all of the other spirits, Luna is a very firm believer that they are all just as responsible as the Hollow. And, for that reason, they all suffer the same fate. No matter how human or pitiful they may be, should a spiritual being cross her path, she will do everything in her power to destroy every last bit of their soul. In her eyes, they have caused nothing but pain and conflict for the Human world. More importantly, everything the Shinigami do, the Quincy do better. Just cut out the middleman and life would be so much easier.
Goals & Achievements: Eliminate the spiritual presence on earth, starting with the Hollow breeds.
[ GUARDIAN ANGEL ]
Spirit Weapon: Luna doesn’t possess a weapon at all. Instead, she simply summon arrows around her hand, arm, or head, and fires them by sheer focus and willpower. This allows for more precise control over her shots and, at the cost of significantly more effort on her part, further range than most Quincy.
Power Effects: All attacks from Luna, upon making contact with the opponent, drain a small bit of reishi from them, fueling her to last longer in battle.
Quincy Cross: A small necklace that she keeps tucked under her collar most of the time, Luna’s Quincy Cross is the same as all of those within her family. Traditional and simple, the metal pentagon has been the symbol of Quincy for generations. Plainly colored with a rusted silver shine and held up by a silver chain loop, it’s not the most visually appealing, but it certainly proves just how old the de la Cruz family are.
[ LEGACY CREATED ]
Origin: Growing up, Luna was raised under a strict, but caring family. Rules were not broken, chores were religion, and doing her best at everything was expected. The high demand put a lot of stress on the growing child, of course, but it was nicely balanced with her understanding mother and her general disconnect from the real world. While she was enrolled in school and was expected to do above average there, the focus on her life was in the Quincy aspects of it. Considering her family had a very long line of exceptional Quincy, she was expected to carry that flag on with as much dedication as possible.
Even as a young child, Luna found herself very happy to uphold the family traditions and instantly took to the idea of being Quincy. While she had yet to unlock her powers or do anything of note, she looked to the future with nothing but optimism and pride for who she would become. From time to time she did have her rebellious streaks -- as all children do -- but even those were tame in comparison to most. A few temper tantrums here and there, but nothing embarrassing or otherwise of note. This complacency and understanding of her surroundings proved to be a major part of her personality that helped her flourish into the person she is today.
Rise to Power: At the tender age of seven, Luna and her mother flew out to Germany to begin her Quincy training. With the help of the much denser Quincy population, Luna grew like a prodigy. Though she never truly summoned a weapon of her own, she quickly grew fond of simply creating and firing arrows, often claiming she hated the middle man. Not that her mother or mentors cared -- she was exceptionally good with her arrows and showed immense promise with her accuracy and knack for tactics. Though young and clumsy, she made her mother proud as she learned to master the variety of traps and weapons Quincy armed themselves with.
While she kept in contact with her father and younger brother throughout her days in Germany, the maturing girl spent most of her free time perfecting her own traps and practicing her aim. Despite her family’s strict upbringing, she seemed to push herself even harder for no other reason beyond “I want to.” The determination and focus to her pursuits as a Quincy made her schooling falter and while her grades were passable, she was quickly surpassed by her peers, much to her mother’s dismay. Eventually, she was taken from middle school altogether in exchange for homeschooling.
Right when she would have entered high school, Luna and her mother returned home to bring down the growing population of Hollow in America. While the family reunion was nice and heartwarming, Luna spent a lot of her time off on her own. Never really the social type, she’d get lost in practice or her own thoughts, alienating her a bit from her own family. Despite the leaps and bounds she was making, her one track mind often made her distant from those around her. Eventually, this mindset would work in her favor. As the family began traveling the world to fight of Hollows when necessary, her independence made her an invaluable tool in combat. She never relied on anyone to help her and her parents often trusted her to go off on her own. Though young, she was more at home hunting her prey than she was socializing. This fostered a strict, almost angry persona that followed her wherever she went. While it was good for earning respect, it wasn’t so much so for friends.
Call to Action: While traveling through eastern Asia, combatting the growing Hollow population and constant Shinigami patrols, Luna was off on her own, clearing out a small section of a particularly large city. Now a full grown woman, her mother had no qualms with letting her come and go as she pleased, granting a lot of freedom for the huntress. However, with this came a sense of adventure and wanderlust that drove her further and further east. By pure chance, she was one of the many people to feel the aftereffects of the Karakura Incursion. The impossible weight of those storming the poor city, countless people being slaughtered simply for existing. The city leveled in just a single breath. All of it playing out on the news before her and punching her spiritual sense in the face. Though she wasn’t in Japan at the time, she was paralyzed with fear.
It was a cold, terrifying reality check that reminded her why she did the things she did.
From that moment forward, Luna doubled down on her patrols and hunting. Though she never truly cut ties to her family -- in fact she was on the phone with them all the time -- she became a solo wanderer, purging Asia and Europe of the Hollows that boomed after that event. Slowly but surely, she carved a path through those areas, cleansing them of the spiritual presence in just a few years. This active and very real problem quickly drew in the attention of the Shinigami. Given there wasn’t much of a reason to think much of a single Quincy causing trouble, they sent a single man to talk her out of her crazy killing spree. Needless to say, this ended in a bloody, hard fought battle.
A fight she had lost. Though the Shinigami was gasping and bleeding, it was her who fell first. Though she never lost consciousness, she struggled to even focus on the parting words to her. The simple warning to stop what she was doing and let the Shinigami do their jobs. And, with only that said, she was left alone, bleeding, and more than a little upset.
