So, since this is technically my first Mastery ever here on good ol’ BG, I thought I’d start off nice and simple and go with the “I already have it, this is just a formality” kind, as it's pretty easy to look over and tell me if I’m wrong or not.
The start of our story begins after a night of passion for Mei- having never met a Shinigami in person before, she quickly finds herself on the back foot once Kenji reveals his true nature. Though significantly weaker, and lacking access to her Taijitu, Mei manages to briefly hold her own through an almost second-nature usage of Hirenkyaku that saves her life twice over.
This sets up Mei’s first real fight after recovering from the beating Kenji gave her: the confrontation with Li. Uninjured and fully able to dictate the pace at which the battle flows, Mei dominates Li, running literal circles around the man for the entire fight, even able to mitigate his one moment of triumph by sheer, instinctive use of Hirenkyaku.
For Mastery, one has to exhibit a level of skill and control that is all but second-nature, an understanding of the skill and what it can do that goes beyond mere excessive use and into the intuitive realm of instinct. I believe these threads demonstrate that Mei shows sufficient understanding, usage, and instinctual grasp of not only what Hirenkyaku us, but how to use it and abuse it to get what she wants, both in and out of combat.
