Mako had known Yuuta for about five months now- and though he still refused to use that silly word "Friend" he certainly saw the boy as an ally, and had a degree of trust for him. Yuki had practically been breathing down his neck the past few weeks about the money, but every interrogation ended with him staring at her blankly asking her why on earth she thought he had "pocket change like that". Without a way to remove it, she seemed to have halted her angst for now, which had been good- because now there was a much greater "issue". Mako had been missing for about five days, without word or sign of the boy the stress had been building up.
Then, a stranger appeared on their doorstep. A single young man, with his hair, trimmed smoothly at the sides and back, the top slightly longer and slicked back neatly. He stood in a simple white kimono, that though it had no unique patterns was obviously well made and enforced with leather in order to show it was designed for sparring and working wear- nothing fancy. Tucked into the sash at his waist was a single wakizashi, a blade that fit his stature. His hand had knocked against the door when it had opened, revealing the boy, likely at first not being able to understand who was at the door- Yuki, or Yuuta, whichever came to open the door would find the now clean, healthy looking body standing on their doorstep.
Despite the obvious changes, such as being clean, well dressed, with proper hair that wasn't matted and greasy- the boy's skin was still pale, but the scar's, knots, bruising, and other wounds that usually decorated his skin were completely gone. As was his crooked hands, that were now well cared for, even his fingernails. However, with some examination of a closer degree- it would be clear who it was, as the same dull grey eyes stared up at whoever opened the door, bags still clearly visible undeath them- if a bit less heavy than before. Without missing a beat, he would state in his usual monotone, uncaring voice, "I'm here to explain some things,"
The words were obviously not intending to do much on their own, intending to step forward and enter the home only when invited in. He'd spent the last five days with Zabel, being healed, cared for, and taught some basic things- but more importantly being properly nourished. He was still too weak, of course, this was only the first step. But he felt like he owed Yuuta an explanation of some sort- and to encourage the boy to begin dedicating himself to his own training as well. It would be unfair to become a Shinigami when Yuuta clearly wanted it far more than him, he would invite the boy back to the Kohara residence, but him alone was already raising questions for Zabel to answer with the other Shinigami.
He'd just have to teach the boy what he knew once he returned and bounced between Zabel and him. In the meantime learning a few things from the gangsters would keep Yuuta busy and help elevate his already obvious physical talent.
