It was the hottest day in recent months. Humidity and stale unmoving air making it nearly unbearable. A sizable group had formed from the fightin' ones with a few from various other divisions. It was barely past eight in the morning when she, the wolf of this division, strode unto the largest of the divisions training grounds. Many within the chattering mass were taller than she. All were younger. All less experienced. Many would have only a handful of battles under them. Few would have actual experience in fighting in a war zone. Though, there was a chance some had seen some form of limited action in the recent invasion. That didn't mean that they were accustomed to it enough for it to be second nature.
The she beast came to rest on her light feet before them her arms folded behind her as an attendant, a recovering soldier still unfit to train, hobbled up and handed her a clip board. The green eyed female took it without her gaze shifting from the still chattering horde. Flipping through the lists held by the clipboard Victoria took in the list. Approximately one hundred souls had shown up for this exercise. A fairly sizable group worthy of praise though she couldn't help but wonder how many of the fifth members had come because they'd been ordered to by their squad leaders. Though she could hope that these men and women had come because they truly wanted to be better soldiers. To be ready for the next war.
That didn't apply to the non-divisionals that had joined their merry-making though. They'd come for reasons their own but they all congealed down to a singular thing. They'd come to be better soldiers. To learn how to fight better and perhaps more efficiently.
The ancient one handed the clipboard back to the attendant. A soft smile cracked her lips as she took in a deep breath. A sharp high pitched whistle ripped from her mouth and quickly grabbed the attention of all those present. Chatter ceased amongst her comrades and her arms refolded behind her back. "Atten~tion!" she barked her voice as she slipped into her line officer attitude, "Form! RANKS!" The quick scurrying of feet as the members of her division snapped into neat clean rows with their arms folded behind their backs like hers with their feet shoulder width apart. Victoria's eyes didn't bother moving towards those not in her division. She didn't expect them to know how to stand at attention like those in her division did. Turning gently on the ball of her left foot the wolf stride the the far edge of her group before turning back and heading towards the other side. Reaching it she began her speech.
"I am Seated Training Officer Victoria Aeserninus. Today you've all shown up in hopes of learning how to fight in heavy combat situations," she stopped and eyed the non-fifth members present, "Some of you may have seen action in the recent invasion. Some of you may have seen action in various operations on Earth. Some of you may have no combat experience to speak of. Today, you'll all learn something." Turning away from the present non-fifths she made her way back to the center of the two groups. "Today you will be divided equally or as equally as possible. You will fight as groups against each other. I expect you all to fight as hard as you would in a live combat situation against the enemy. Should you attempt to deliver a death blow I will intervene. These are not one on one fights people. As you defeat your individual opponent I encourage you to gang up on each other. I encourage you to work together to be victorious as a group.
Whatever they taught you in academy about honor and bushido and whatever personal belief system you subscribe to when it comes to fighting... forget it. It serves no purpose on the battlefield. Do whatever it takes to secure victory. To achieve your objective. To keep your squadmates alive. Individual glory means nothing. Completing objectives means everything. I will now divide you into groups."
Splitting the mass of people into took several minutes before she was left with several from her division and the non-divisionals. "That leaves you five. Divide yourselves however you think is most fair. And you Malix... make us proud."
