Shinku was starting to get very interested in the turn events that had unfolded this evening. It had started relatively normal, enjoying the dawn, a morning hunt that had gone fruitlessly, and a scouring of the outskirts of the city of Karakura trying to find a Hollow that wasn’t close enough to a Shinigami or other threat that she would be at risk. It had taken hours, but the Hollow was patient and waited for the right opportunity, and found one that was on the side of the city that was mostly deserted, but a little ways into the lines… but she would need to take the risk. Certainly, it was a little ways outside her comfort zone, but she was hungry, and didn’t want to wait until another opportunity arose, if it did. To Shinku, it was always a matter of survival, not desire, and she would take this risk so that she could feed and keep her mind sharp and ready.
The Hollow was a walker, not a flyer, so that much made things easier, and it was relatively small and weak, about the size of a small car. Shinku sent the scout, one of the Aka Okami to assess closer and even execute the attack if it was weak enough. Dusk was settling in and the air was beginning to cool, and Shinku was waiting in a thick patch of trees outside the city limits, controlling the Okami directly to increase it’s effectiveness, which required her to be stationary to do. The creature was relatively fast, and quietly wound through the deserted alleys as it approached the target quietly, hoping to catch it unaware and end it’s life quickly. And as it saw the creature, a weird alligator type Hollow, it charged as fast as it’s chitonous legs would carry it, preparing to lung and rip out the throat of the beast. As it emerged from the side alley, however, the Hollow was struck by a bolt of light, and began to disintegrate, which was not a good sign. It meant a Quincy was nearby, and close enough that it could probably end the Okami’s life without problems.
Unable to stop it’s momentum though, the Okami skidded into the street, dragging it’s claws through the ground to bring itself to a stop and focusing it’s energy on stopping itself. A pair of glowing purple eyes swung towards where the shot was fired, and the creature gave a short growl, and then took off with as much speed as it could muster away from the Quincy. It would retreat directly back to the rest of the Brood, and there if needed Shinku would initiate a counter attack, but while it definitely was sensed that the Quincy was giving chase but not engaging directly. Interesting… perhaps this person was a curious one as well. The Brood Mother could only hope, and she made her way to the edge of the forest, not visible with the exception of her large glowing purple eyes in the darkness. It wasn’t long before her Okami was in view, kicking up dust as it bolted past her for the relative safety of the trees.
Shinku mentally ordered a pack of her brood to split off and exit the opposite direction for a Hollow she sensed coming up from behind them, and the rest was put into defensive locations and then burrowed into the ground, hiding themselves and preparing for ambush if it was necessary. Certainly, she was taking a risk by trying to engage the Quincy in conversation, but the reward if it paid off was certainly worth the possibility of conflict. She didn’t feel all that strong, so if it came down to it, hopefully Shinku could overpower her and leave her with minimal injuries. Worst case scenario, she would run for it. Just because she was willing to try didn’t mean she wasn’t going to try to plan for possible outcomes that were less than favorable. As the young Quincy paused, Shinku decided that a little bit of a warning would be prudent; she knew that her form was not exactly pleasant, even as the standards for Hollows went.
“Greetings young Quincy…” A good start… pleasant enough. “You have followed my pet to this place, but did not kill it. For that, you have my thanks. I would like to speak to you, but ask that you refrain from hostilities, as I will do the same.”
That should set the scene relatively well enough, and those purple glowing eyes began to shift as she moved out into the dying light of day. Her claws were all tucked in, and she moved her legs slowly forward as to make the shock a little easier for her to swallow. Once the front half of her body was in the light, she waited a moment, evaluating the young girl, and then gave a slight bow of her large masked head, giving the young woman a physical greeting as well as a sign of respect.
