Yui had plain outdone herself this time.
Sure, she was pretty well practiced at stalking those who she had to look up towards as goal and obstacles alike, but this time she was even better than she had expected. There was a seated member of her squad that was coming back from a failed assignment… an attempt to assassinate a Quincy in the human world. While the young ninja had no idea what happened, this was a better opportunity than she could have hoped for to get a little bit of information about her and find out what happened directly from the horse’s mouth. Failure was not something that Yui would allow herself, and she knew that mentality was strong within her squad, so to have someone come back beaten and defeated was a significant event… and it was Saila? Saya? Something like that. She had never been very good at learning names of people she hadn’t fought yet.
But her reputation, Yui did know. Hakudo expert… someone that she could learn from.
But that wasn’t what was impressive about her current situation, but rather the skill she had used in getting to her current location. She had managed to sneak into the Aid Station undetected, found a manifest of all the patients, discovered the room that she was being brought to, AND managed to get in before even the patient had arrived from her last healing session. Completing all of this without being noticed was a testament to her skill, and as such, she did what she always did when she was waiting for her quarry to arrive; attached herself onto the ceiling and wait. She made sure to tuck her long purple hair through a loop on her shirt to keep it from giving her away like last time, and took a moment to extend her senses and reflect on the events for the day.
Woke up, got dressed, and warmed up with a hundred Shunpo suicides… took an hour to recover properly. Took a shower, and decided it was time for something different, and challenged an unseated Shinigami from 5th squad who had a loud mouth and a bit too much attitude. I mean, he practically asked for it, calling her a pipsqueak. She walked away with a few bruises, but nothing too major. Wouldn’t surprise her at all if he was in this hospital somewhere too. Broke out her blade and did a bit of meditation, then got lunch… ramen with pork and a splash of soy sauce… delicious.
A noise.
Yui silently wiped the drool she felt slowly working it’s way up her face while hanging there and watched the door open. Great, now she was hungry again… perfect. Why did she have to think of food while stalking Sierra? If her stomach growled, it would give her away, and she would lose precious time observing her without being noticed first. She needed to focus. The door quickly closed again, so it must have been someone else… still no Sally. Back to reflection. So after lunch, she learned from another unseated that she knew that one of the seated members had lost an arm and was returning to Soul Society after a botched assassination. Insanely curious about what must have led up to that, she had decided to infiltrate the Aid Station, and now she was here. Kind of a mellow day, to be honest. Part of her wondered if this was even worth the effort, but to be fair, it also served as a good way to find out what it would take to beat her. Sally had a seat in her squad, and that meant she was someone who, like everyone else, Yui would want to challenge one day. But not even she would be willing to fight someone who was in the hospital… just a little bit of information gathering would be fine.
Another noise… a nurse bringing someone in. Yep, this was definitely Sandy. Yui had already repressed her Reiatsu as much as possible, and now focused on the physical aspects like making her breathing slow and shallow to keep it from making noise. She watched as the patient was slowly brought into the room, and so far, it seemed that Yui had gone unnoticed, and the nurse was holding her attention. She waited silently, patiently, and didn’t bother to worry about being noticed much longer… after all, it would be hard to gather intel from someone who didn’t even know she was present in the first place. So, after the nurse left and the door closed, Yui tilted her head and her long, purple hair fell from the ceiling and hopefully that would be enough to garner Shelly’s attention. Once she was noticed, it was probably wise to at least introduce herself less she raise some sort of alarms and cause a ruckus. “Yui Shokotsuki, 2nd Squad… couldn’t remember where the dojo was and wound up here.” a blatant lie, but better than saying that she was stalking the fox… “You look like you’ve seen better days… what happened?”
There was curiosity and concern in her voice and tone, but there was something else too hidden underneath those genuine emotions; the desire to learn. The afternoon was still young... plenty of time.
