[C] Escaping the Doldrums [Closed, Malix]

It was no surprise that as soon as he claimed the long empty title that all sorts of excess paperwork would be pushed onto him to help the others out. What wasn't expected was a request for training from someone outside the division so soon. Malix figured it wpuld be nearly a year before anyone took his office seriously, yet he was contacted and made an appointment. He couldn't help but feel unprepared, he'd hoped to get a bit further with his own skills before actually attempting a formal training session on his own.

His office space was more or less still storage for whatever was unnecessary at the time so he had to carve out a place to get his work done whenever he actually bothered to use it. Heavily reeking of must it seemed this room was largly forgotten by any regular cleaning. The most space unnoccupied by clutter was about the size of a broom closet. If he ever found the time Malix would have to get this place squared away properly.

Quietly looking over various field reports and comparing them to establish the exact events, he made note of whatever discrepancies he could find. Later he'd give em another look to decide if they needed further inquiry. A heafty knock on the door caught his attention. Looking up to the wall clock he grinned at the growing excitement. "Enter." Gathering himself from the floor he moved to sit on the makeshift seat behind the desk. Pointing at the empty stool on the opposite side, "So you're looking for hand to hand training?"

Scratching the back of his head he gleaned his eye over the man. "Well Merrick, that's usually the Wolf's department. I can however help you practice against hado to improve your skills against ranged combat."

He nodded as the man spoke and gave a more thorough explanation to what it was he desired to learn. "That is certainly doable here in the Fifth." Glancing now to the piles of papers and folders upon the desk to gauge how much more he needed to do to meet the weeks quota. "I'd be willing to help you strengthen your skills as needed." His hand now pulled out the request form to place on top of the pile, putting his signature upon it and placing it off to the side. "With that you're now approved to come train whenever I'm available. We can start now and get a grasp of your skills or wait till we have a full day to dedicate to this. Up to you."

It was strange having the authority to accept or deny requests of any kind, the whole officer status was more mundane than expected. Now that he looked around his office he realized the poor image it gave to others outside the division. Yes the Fifth doesn't exactly handle the use of Kido very well, but these conditions made it seem worse than it was. He got the respect of any officer, it was just more of a strangeness then a hate. Everyone here is used to doing things with physical means by tradition. They didn't chase off Kido users, most left because they felt a different division was better suited for their talents. For Malix to even have this title proved that Kido did have a place here, and he was going to try to make it more normal.

He could appreciate the need to jump right into training, Malix often did the same. Picking up the last of his paperwork to put it away for the day, he looked at the schedule to see if the underground facility was even available right now. Luck seemed to be on their side since it looked like the next few hours were free. With everything put away he looked at the man "Well the facility is available for a bit. With any luck it won't be too torn up, giving us the chance to utilize it to its maximum potential." Reaching into the only unblocked drawer, he pulled out his wrist wraps in anticipation for the training. "I cannot ensure there won't be anybody around, it is the most popular group training facility we have."

Gesturing his hand to the door for Alain to make his way out, Malix soon followed and locked the door behind him. Taking the lead to the Underground entrance, while applying the material to his wrists and knuckles. "I don't know how much practice you have against Kido users, but the combination of ranged and close quarters combat will definitely gauge where you need to focus. Either defensively or offensively. I'll try to press you as much as needed to get the best sense of things, but it is up to you to recognize any shortcomings in yourself. What I see, compared to what you know about yourself tends to blur the real focus." As he finished tightening his wrist wrappings, he made sure they didn't restrict his mobility. While its true what he said could be seen as pushing the responsibility off of himself, he literally had no information about this guy. So making him keep track of his own progress just ensured things were going to be utilized to its maximum potential. 

Arriving at the facility door he looked at the man, "we get in there, we make sure were ready to go. Remember where the door is because the landscape can be pulverized rather quickly making it difficult to keep track of your location. If things get too intense in there and either of us become seriously injured, there should be medic stations against the outer walls. Anything life threatening means you'll need to get to one of those stations and send out for a medical retrieval team." Lifting his hand to place on the door to push it open he spoke once more. "Any questions?"
