Koishikawa Korakuen Garden appeared to be empty today. She wasn’t sure if it had to do with the fact that it was around three am or it being a Tuesday. Perhaps both. At least the lack of people gave her the space to sit down in the grass next to the water and relax. In the distance to her right there were a couple of skyscrapers making their presence known with dozens of lit up windows. From here the walls melted with the inky black sky and made the lights look like a swarm of fireflies. A soft breeze moved the long blades of grass she sat on. Having had a long day Sasha didn’t feel like actively training today. Instead, she opted to pick a calm spot to train her perception of anything supernatural. Hopefully it would help her to detect her enemies quicker.
Listening to the wind and the vague city noises coming from the distance she closed her eyes and reached out toward her surroundings. It still felt odd to be trying to sense something she couldn’t really place. At times the sensation came in the form of a pressure, then there were the cold, empty spots of anger or despair, and aside from those she had a couple of occasions where she got to acquaintance herself with a certain smell. It seemed that the presence of a being could take on many ‘forms’, and some of those let it blend into the world without a trace.
From the scent of fresh rain, to flowers and candy. Then there was the distant trace of blood, but she didn’t follow the Hollow wherever it went. Someone else would have to deal with that one tonight. Sasha was only watching from her sanctuary.
Another presence, one of deep pink and a heavy wind. Right after came a sand storm of emotions. Quickly the two moved side by side. In her inexperienced eye the two almost intertwined before crashing into a wall of cold. Shivering, she let go of those ones. Every time her senses picked up a Hollow she took a step back. Sensing them was enough for today.
Setting up an amount to reach, she went on to finding the next signature. Warmth, a pleasant fire that grew until she smelled the smoke and felt its scorching heat on her skin. Gasping, she opened her eyes. Wide with terror the green orbs tried to place this presence she knew, feared, and hated so much.
Pale fingers buried themselves into the grass before Sasha managed to find the strength to get up. All she had to do was run, make sure to get away from the signature before it would-
The air was too dry. The night too warm. She sweated even before her eyes fell on the Witch.
“Why?” There was a creak in her voice.
It was really hard to speak when all you could think about was losing your limbs to fire. The Arrancar hadn’t even touched her, but she was already shivering. Mercilessly the scent of burning flesh - her flesh - came up, and she could feel the pain without it being there, yet. Her stomach twisted, and so did her fingers. She felt helpless, scared to death. After all this time of practising, months of preparation in case of an event like this, she could still barely move. There wasn’t even a mention of her creating the bow.
Lord, please have mercy, she wanted to scream those words to the sky but knew that there was no God.
