Yui was curious how today was going to go. Ever since meeting with the Captain for the first time, things had changed instrumentally for the little Shinigami. She had met new people, made some friends, done a bunch of things, and trained her ass off… it had all happened in the spans of two weeks, and it honestly felt like a blur. Maybe all it had really taken was getting out from under the other Squad-mates? It certainly was a possibility… as that was probably the biggest change. She had vastly more freedom now than she had before, struggling to simply get by and doing stupid small tasks all day every day, and that freedom had allowed her to meet new people. Not every experience had been good, but mostly, they hadn’t been bad either, and while she didn’t particularly feel stronger physically, she definitely felt like she had gotten somewhere, and part of that was about to come into practice right now.
Yui could see the Captain’s Quarters in the distance, and sense the spiritual pressure of her Captain, and as such, she went ahead and suppressed her own using all the skills she had been learning. She was quite good at it now, and unless the Captain was actively searching for nearby Spiritual Pressure, she could probably slip in, undetected… but she didn’t want to do that this time. No sneaking around when it came to giving a report… but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t have some fun with it anyway, and at least she was going to be following orders. What she had been instructed last time was that she needed to use the door instead of the window, but what she hadn’t said was to never use the roof anymore… So, like some kind of odd vampire, Yui used her silent Shunpo to attach herself to the wall near the front door and then walk along the wall and through the door. She was in her office. That meant there was almost no way possible for her to sneak in without using the windows… so much for any sort of surprise, but that was all well and good… she could still have her own twist on things.
Walking along the wall, she stayed out of the sightline of the office door, which stood ajar a short distance away. Utterly silent, she moved along the wall as if she were a part of it, sticking close to the roof to avoid any loss of balance. It was the one thing that made her special; the ability to attach herself to things like this, even inside the Seireitei, and she had practiced it many times every day. After all, her preferred seating position was upside down, she may as well use that preference for her reporting as well. This time, though, her report wasn’t from some forward team… it was from Yui herself. She had taken great pride in the fact that she reported to no one but Captain Kasumi herself for the moment, and while the ranking structure hadn’t changed, she could certainly say that almost everything else had. She still could recall every detail of her Squad Leader’s face when she handed him the scroll and he read it, releasing her from under his thumb. The type of man who loved being able to influence those weaker, he had been quick to replace her with a fresh academy recruit. Yui made a mental note to check on the newcomer soon, and hoped the same fate hadn’t befallen him or her. Hopefully they were strong enough to put him in his place.
Yui was in position now, and with a gentle smile and a nod, her hair came loose from being tucked in her shirt. She was crouched on the roof portion of the home just outside the office door, and now her long strands of purple hair dangled in her field of view along with the rising sun. It was unmistakable; who else would do such a thing? While it was probably vastly unnecessary, this was a personal preference that she very much enjoyed, and she hadn't been ordered not to, so why the hell not?
