Shinku stepped out of the Garganta and out into a rural looking area. She wasn’t exactly certain where she was aside the fact that she knew it was somewhere in Europe, where she was planning to try to find a place to call home. After that last Quincy had infiltrated her home, she was forced to relocate completely, and did so as soon as she was able, not even wanting to risk the time it would take to establish her entire Legion, instead focusing on her strongest beings, the Hanta, as her personal guard. She had six of them in total that stepped out with her, quickly slithering outwards to establish a guard surrounding her as Shinku took in her surroundings. She was on a main road of some sort, and it was early evening, but from the looks of things, there wasn’t a lot of people driving. One Hanta apiece moved to the main road, guarding both directions and looking for trouble, blocking the road for all intents and purposes even though normal people would pass straight through them.

She had come here in the hopes that getting away from Japan and moving to Europe would finally bring her some peace and quiet. A place where she could hunt the bestial Hollow without having to worry every five seconds about a Shinigami Patrol or a Quincy Juggernaut waltzing around and making life difficult. If she could just find peace for a few years, perhaps she could gain the information she needed to make the evolutionary next step in her chain of events. If there was one thing the battle with Erek had proven, it was that she needed to become a lot stronger if she was to survive properly, and that mean she needed more information in which to fight the fears of growth that had plagued her for so many years. But first thing was first, she needed to figure out where the hell in the world she had wound up, because she was completely foreign to this land and needed to get her sense of direction.

The first thing she found was the sun, using it’s setting direction and orange glow as an indicator for her north, east, west and south. Next she looked for terrain identifiers, but couldn’t really see anything of interest off the top of her head, but… she could smell something. Was that the sea? She took a deep breath inwards and indeed identified that salty smell as a nearby ocean. She was somewhere near a coastline it would appear, but not close to a city by any means… that was good, because population centers meant there would be those who would be capable of seeing her. Speaking of that… she finally expanded her inner senses, looking around with her Reiatsu Perception… and low and behold, there was one traveling at an excessive high rate of speed straight for her. A quick scan showed no other powerful beings in the area, but she knew that wasn’t the problem here… the person was traveling and would run into her Hanta that was guarding the road right about…

Now his father was gone, and Erek was off on his way to challenge the head of the clan, Martin was enjoying what he believed to be a bit of much earned down time. He spent ages tuning his cars and his bike, and today he was taking his car out for a spin. He’d tuned the breaks and the suspension to make it that bit better to handle around tight country bends. It took him almost an hour to get out of London with the traffic, but once he was he was pelting down country lanes at 80mph. It was 10mph over the speed limit but, but it was the speed most people actually did when the national speed limit technically applied.

He wasn’t just out for a drive though, oh no, he was on the way to a beach to top up his tan and potentially get some action that night. It was even
uncharacteristically hot and sunny for England with the temperatures hitting 27oC, a truly blissful day indeed. Martin thought it could go any better until he sensed something up ahead. He wasn’t looking specifically and before long it was already upon him, a hollow of some sort?! Maybe, he’d never seen one like that before The country lanes were narrow and he served out to the side, figuring a hedge line would do less damage than the hollow itself. He quickly unclipped his belt and jumped out barely a millisecond before the car crashed. The airbags deployed and the front end of the car was completely wrecked.

For the first time in a long time Martin felt true anger, every hour he spent working on that car flashed before his eyes. It wasn’t the value of the car that angered him, it was the fact it was his car and it was truly unique. Even if he worked on another car of the same model, it would never be the same car again.

The anger boiled within him and without any further warning Martin grasped the cross around his neck and manifested a deck of cards that began floating around him. He didn’t have much of it compared to some people, but Martin was flexing his reiryoku and activating his power to bring misfortune to all of those around. He’d seemingly disappear and reappear several times, firing a barrage of reiatsu formed cards at this unusual hollow. The mother fucker would pay for ruining his car.

The Hanta looked towards the vehicle as it sped towards it, and decided to see if intimidation would work to divert the person inside. It opened it’s jaws, spread out it’s mandibles, and raised it’s tri-scythe arms, raising itself up on it’s snake like tail and let loose a loud, vicious hiss towards it, and for the moment, it seemed to work. The car screeched and skidded, veering off the road and into a ditch, and the person inside jumped just before the car came to a very sudden stop. Shinku, watching through the eyes of her Hanta, felt a small pang of pity. She wasn’t much for vehicles, but she knew one that was nicer than others and the people who owned it cared for them much in the same way the Queen cared for her children, so seeing it wrecked was something she could sympathize with.

What she didn’t care for, however, was the fact that the man immediately got up after his tumble with inertia and momentum, and begin to summon his spirit weapon. She also could feel his spirit pressure blanketing the area around him, and what the effect of it would be, she couldn’t say, but she didn’t like the feeling of it. Regardless, this guy was now attacking her Hanta, and she needed to make preparations, and immediately dropped three eggs that splat sickeningly on the ground, beginning to pulse and grow in size. The fight was a short distance away, but it seemed that she hadn’t been noticed just yet, so she took cover in the tree line to hide herself and her eggs for the moment. One of her Hanta moved to protect Shinku herself, while the others burrowed where they were and began to tunnel towards the fight to help the Hanta that was under attack.

The Hanta that he was fighting moved with amazing quickness, sliding out of the way sideways of the initial barrage, and it lowered it’s head and a flap folded, revealing a single, six inch long spine of super-condensed bone, and fired it towards the man’s leg, or so it should have been. But it was about three inches too short, and would implant in the dirt at the young man’s feet instead, causing the beast to hiss in frustration and surprise. Shinku, watching, considered this. Her Hanta had always been top shots, especially at this short range, capable of hitting a quarter off a post with ease… what had caused the miss? That, and why was this Quincy, which was most obvious, using playing cards instead of a Bow and Arrow? Erek hadn’t, but she had always assumed it was because of his vastly superior skills and power. From what she could tell, this young man was no where near his level.

This hollow was concerning swift, it was avoiding his onslaught but that only served to fuel his anger at his lost love. His anger wasn't completely inhibiting his senses though, he could feel things getting closer which meant he had to deal with what was before him as quickly as possible. He went to move slightly to the side until he realised the shot was falling short. It was probably best not to show off his dodging ability just yet. He did however hold a single card in his hand, the light growing brighter as his rapid fire barrage stopped in favour of a single stronger shot.

Martin would seemingly vanish from sight as he used a burst of hirenkyaku, moving around twenty foot above the hollow and firing the card directly down at the hollow's head, following up with another barrage of cards but not in the direction of the Hanta. He was firing a barrage of cards in every direction but the Hanta to bring whatever else was lurking around into the open. He had to know what he was dealing with, he wanted revenge for his car and he would track down whatever it was that did it, but if it was going to get him killed he wouldn't stick around longer than he could afford to. If he died here, he would never avenge his fallen love.

It was times like this that he wished he actually paid attention with the melee combat side of the Blackmore training. It would be very useful if he could just plunge a reishi blade into the hollow's skull to get it over with quickly. But he had faith in his card's fire power, and the potency of his ability. He had both luck and anger on his side in this fight, it was an ability which was surprisingly useful when it came to fighting groups, friendly fire was terribly unfortunate.

The Quincy was not slow, that much was certain. The boy held a single card, and it glowed more brightly than the ones before, and Shinku knew that this one needed to be avoided, or it was going to do some serious damage. But when he vanished completely, Shinku, for a mere moment, loss track of the boys location, realizing a moment too late that he was above her forces, and the Hanta moved ever so slightly too slow to be able to avoid the card completely, it impacting one of it’s two limbs. The Hierro cracks and sliced cleanly through as the powerful card cut through the arm, and the creature hissed in pain as it continued to move and glared skyward, it’s glowing eyes fueled with carefully controlled rage.

The rapid fire barrage towards the rest of her forces was negligible, and they didn’t even need to surface to avoid the damage, simply continuing their way towards the target, and finally rupturing out of the ground, presenting the full force of five Hanta. While they definitely were Hollow, none of them had masks of the typical variety, and all had their eyes trained on their target, spines prepared and ready, their scythe-blades twitching and waiting. But they hesitated, watching their prey, not quite launching their spines just yet like someone was standing before them, holding up their hand, waiting to see what the young man would do next.

Shinku laid three more eggs as the first three burst, revealing the dreaded Okami who immediately took off into the woods, staying out of range. The Queen didn’t have her Hanta fire because she didn’t understand what it was that he was doing, and she wanted to stay on the defensive so that she could figure that much out. Instead, she had them move, defensively, staggering their numbers so that the chances of him hitting more than one was almost non-existent. It was also a cutting type damage, and the stronger ones were capable of cutting into the Hanta’s exoskeleton, or Hierro. Theirs was nothing in comparison to her own, but that was hardly the point… they were in trouble if they got hit again, so for the moment, they would hold and remain ready to dodge his next assault.

Shinku, however, was watching the fight with baited breath, trying with everything she had to figure out what his ability was that made him different.

Martin felt slight differences in the impacts, noticing five more creatures coming his way, though it would seem he didn't need to investigate as they all surfaced. If they were comparable to the first hollow this would be very difficult and he'd have to retreat for now but not before he made a dent in them. He started to charge up two cards, being sure to line them up with one another perfectly so it looked like one card with their combined light being the same as the single card from before.

He had expected them to attack but something was weird, now he thought everything about this was weird. They did not look like normal hollow which meant they were deviants of some kind, the other possibility was that they were a product of a hollow which would mean he's in even more trouble than he thought. The fact they were all uniform supported this idea but didn't necessarily prove it beyond all doubt. He used his hirenkyaku once again to appear behind the wounded Hanta, appearing just long enough to be seen before flickering away once again to appear in front of Hanta and firing the two cards. He fired one towards the hollow's face, and the second to the elbow like joint of the remaining limb. He was testing their durability to see just how much damage he could do before he tried to escape, it'd be easier to escape if removed some of their numbers anyway. He figured his main advantage in an escape was that he knew the area incredibly well, and he could cover several miles without tiring too much so could hopefully lose them.

Shinku had to admit, he was certainly brave. A single Hanta was strong enough to challenge him, in it’s own right, but he was confronted with five, and still was cool, calm and collected, charging another of the powerful cards. The mass produced ones were not very powerful in their own right… but the singles were strong, and she knew that this was going to end badly if she didn’t contain this right here and now. But she still didn’t understand his ability, and only through looking through their eyes did she think that she would come close to gaining any sense of comprehension. Most of the time, their special abilities were exceptionally obvious and simple, but this was far from either.

All the Hanta were poised, ready to strike, move and win, but they were not moving just yet, waiting for him to make the move, and as he did, Shinku inwardly smiled. Of course he would go after the one that was on the ground, wounded and bleeding, as any good tactician would. You eliminated the weak so they could not support the strong, but this time, Shinku did not lose track of her enemy, and the Hanta hissed as the being appeared behind it and the creature raised a single, triple scythed claw, only for the man to vanish again. He had used his appearance as a distraction to get behind the target again and make it lose focus… that was very smart… but in a burst of static, the Hanta he was fighting was gone, now behind the Quincy with it’s claws already raised, and lowering down quickly in a vicious strike. It was aimed at his black, but if it struck home, it would not dig very deeply; hitting his spine would likely kill him, and he was nothing more than a child in Shinku’s eyes. She would defend herself, absolutely… but not kill him. He deserved a chance at life, like every other child.

Martin felt confident as his reappearance and disappearance seemed to grab the hollow's attention, it was only after he threw the first card that it disappeared. It was out of sight which logically meant it could only be one place. On reflex his blut activated, also on reflex was the further charging of his remaining card almost to the first power of the very first one he threw. He flicked it behind him as the scythe grazed his back and cutting through the blut. Martin grunted as he quickly pivoted around and formed another card in his hand. A loud thud could be heard in the background, the card he'd thrown at Hanta had hit a tree which the car had hit. It was a mighty tree which had fallen onto the spots where the Hanta had been, their bad luck could be his good luck.

This time he wasn't going to let go of this card just yet, he gritted his teeth knowing it was only a matter of time before it healed but it was still painful. Martin jumped up towards the hollow, rolling in mid air over it's remaining limb as he tried to line up the reishi pumped card along the hollow's flesh. If and only if he managed to cut the Hanta would he throw the very same card at the limb in an effort to sever it. If all went to plan so far he'd fire another card into the back of the Hanta, using his observations to gauge just enough reishi to just about pierce it's skin for the sake of speed. Assuming this went to plan, he'd gather reishi into his palm and launch a palm thrust at the card, using a similar logic to a hammer and chisel to try and crack it apart.

The blade connected through the Quincy’s back and shredded it, and Shinku noticed that the odd defense technique that their kind used helped to minimize the damage, but it was nothing like when Erek had done it. Those same claws, during the peak of their battle, had done little to even scratch the man, and she was thankful that, to her knowledge, he was still somewhere in Japan, well and away from here. The Hanta didn’t have enough time to react in this close range to dodge the card, and it tore through a section of its ‘ribcage’ and spilled more blood onto the ground, hissing in pain but unwilling to go down without a fight… but more so, it hit the tree near the other Hanta and caused it to fall towards them, to which they quickly burrowed and tunneled away from it and towards the trees.

The Hanta slashed again horizontally, and in an acrobatic feat, the man jumped over and twisted in mid-air, and with a flash of light, it’s other limb was cut through, cleanly, causing it to hiss in pain yet again and turn, firing a single spine from it’s skull at his shoulder. The last card landed in it’s back, and with a might smash on the part of his physical strength, the card pierced through the shell and into the vital organs within. The Hanta thrashed for a moment, the powerful tail whipping around, but very soon lay still, dead at his feet, and for a moment, he stood alone, victorious over his foe.

“Well Done, Quincy.” Shinku was in the tree line, hidden, and emerged into view slowly, her claws folded over her stomach. The Five Hanta and Six Okami were all there, nothing but a good sized squad of teeth, claws and glowing eyes, all looking towards the Quincy. If he was injured and posed little threat, she would proceed forward herself and assess him directly, but if he was still on his feet, she would stay her place and let him consider his next choice of actions. “The Hanta you defeated quite enjoyed the battle, even though it lost. I am Shinku, Queen of the Red Legion, and I must say that you are quite skilled. May I ask your name, young one?” The bug-like chittering in her voice punctuated her every word, but it definitely sounded female, and there was no malice or hatred there. It had been a fair fight, and although she had lost a member of her Legion, she saw honor in the fight, and that made it worth every second in her eyes. She had also gained valuable insight into the Quincy and his capabilities, and could defeat him herself, should that ever be necessary.

Martin dropped his shoulder just enough to reduce what would have been a clean puncture into a graze across his shoulder, it still hurt like hell and tore off the skin but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. As the Hanta started to thrash around Martin jumped back to avoid its tail, assuming it functioned like a normal creature it should die any second...... now! He was right, he let out a sigh of relief, hoping for a brief second that the enemy had dispersed and he was in the clear now.

He knew he wasn't quite that lucky and the situation went from bad to worse, a voice called out to him which was very confusing indeed. Such coherent speech wasn't common in hollow at all, what's more she identified him as a quincy in spite of his green reishi which was quite unique. He counted twelve assailants in total, it was really quite disturbing how grotesque they all were. He was pretty sure they were made out of teeth and claws which was never a good combination, it reminded him of a Top Gear joke from years back. It seemed his assumptions were right too, she created them and seemed to have a connection with them. It was truly a fearsome ability.

It seemed she was capable of reasoning with, he could allay his desire vengeance for now as there was no way he could achieve it. He could learn more about this hollow and hunt it down later once he'd got stronger under Erek's guidance "My name is Martin" he refused to give his last name, still not wishing to acknowledge his Blackmore heritage as a defining feature of him. However, the bigger reason for not giving it, was in case she happened to know of the Blackmores. If she was in England, and knew of the Quincy she may have known the name which would give her an insight into his abilities. He bit his tongue as he resisted the urge to hurl abuse at this creature "And what exactly are you doing here, are you unaware of what a road is for? I'd advice you stay clear of them in the future, nothing breeds anger like losing a loved one which is something you have caused today" he couldn't help but let his anger slip through into his speech in spite of his efforts to not be aggressive.

She considered the name for a moment. Martin. A good, solid name… but also distinctly wasn’t one that she knew of from the main continent of Europe. Perhaps she had wound up in Iceland? United Kingdom? His next words seemed to almost read her mind, and she was glad he had brought up the subject, for it would make for an excellent way to ask for such information. But first thing was first, she had confirmed that he was very angry about his vehicle, the tone painting his words, and for a moment, her mind traveled to her Hanta. “Then the scales are perfectly level.” As if on cue, one of her Hanta next to her lowered it’s head and she gently raked her claws over the creature’s skull, ‘petting’ it, and the creature let out a low, affectionate hiss. The implications were clear; she loved her Hanta likely in the same way that he loved his car.

But it was time to continue the conversation, and actually perhaps get some useful information. “Now that you mention it, I am rather lost. What country are we in?” Simultaneously, she had one Okami that had been a little too eager and had wound up on the pavement backpedal to get off the asphalt and away from the possible danger there. “I am simply trying to find a place to call home. Your kind already displaced me from where I had lived for many years. If you can simply point me in the right direction, I will be on my way peacefully.” It wasn’t a bad deal, after all, and would allow her to make progress towards an end state. She was already dreadfully tired of all this moving around, even if her mind and body were still fine… it was more of an emotional drain than anything.

He seemed able bodied and relatively bright, using tactics and strategy in his fight with the Hanta and not letting his emotions rule over his insight. She had been relatively impressed, and had it been a solo match with her Hanta, he certainly was victorious. But Shinku was a foe that was more than simply strength, complex strategy and raw power; she was a being of numbers, and if the single Hanta had nearly incapacitated him, she was certain that her entire force would be more than enough. But that brought up his special ability, which she still didn’t seem to understand, but she bit her metaphorical tongue, keeping the question held back. There was no way he would answer, and if he did, it would not be truthful. It was his trump card, and they both had them. Asking the other to expose such a thing was actually pretty stupid.

The amount of reasoning this hollow possessed was concerning to say the least, the way it implied it cared about it's spawn on a love like level was unheard of. Every hollow he'd ever known was bloodthirsty and incapable of excising restraint. Was what was before him even a hollow? He was starting to suspect that this could be something else that just felt like a hollow, but he trusted what his senses were telling him for now. Interesting, if what this beast was saying was true then they merely wanted a quiet life where they wouldn't be disturbed. He could use this to lead her to a set location to make her easier to track down. Although he understood that he had perhaps already hurt her, the flames of vengeance burned bright in Martin's soul and likely wouldn't rest until justice was served.

His mind went through the counties, their location and the population density as he tried to think of a place to send her when he got it "You're in England, specifically the South East Region. It's quite populous so I advice you make your way to the north east of this island, the population is far more dense. I would definitely advice you stay clear of the south, a powerhouse by the name of Erek has recently arrived" he didn't want Erek killing her, that was his job. He continued to stare Shinku down, not budging an inch or showing signs that he was intimidated. If anybody was going to turn back it would have to be her, if she was truly peaceful then she shouldn't mind being the one to leave. She clearly had the advantage in numbers so could just have her spawn things watch her back as she left he figured.

Now his escape was very likely, he took time to make a series of mental notes about Shinku and how she'd conducted herself. He was listing down possible weaknesses and tactics to take down her two different types of units as well as the Queen herself. He figured the best way to take her down would be a very swift and brutal assault which suited a speedster glass cannon type such as himself. The only problem was that she was currently too powerful for him, her spawn felt around his equal on their own. He had to get stronger.

That was actually infinitely helpful and helped her shape what her next move was going to be, and his advice was well sounded, but she detected some sort of ill intent behind it as well. That made sense; for all intents and purposes, she was an enemy, so him providing guidance was a calculated move of some sort, not that it would matter in the end game. Her own spiritual pressure was carefully concealed, allowing her to mask her intent. “Thank you Martin. That information will be invaluable if I am to avoid further confrontation.” It appeared she was going to take his suggestion, but the opposite was true; she would head directly south and try to find a Human ship in which to take her across, get out of the country and wind her was southeast and find somewhere without the presence of the enemy.

His mention of Erek, and his location, was something of interest, and for a moment, her eyes flashed with power a the realization. “Erek. Erek Blackmore is the only one I know that matched the feeling you mention… and he is certainly one I need to avoid. Our last confrontation was… too close for comfort.” She wouldn’t say anything about the fact that he had already been badly hurt at the time, as it wasn’t the right place or time, and she needed to hold that close to her vest. Perhaps this could have an adverse effect on Martin as well; if he truly knew that she had come to a confrontation with him, and not only survived but came to a mutual defeat between the two, it would do wonders for the young man to appreciate her skill. Even if it was a bit inflated in it’s story.

Knowing what she planned to do next, she gave him the courtesy of a slight dip of her head, and half of her forces retreated backwards, working into the woods as a forward scout party, which was also north east, hoping to provide a little more false information. “If he is your mentor, you will survive in this world, I am certain. It is not kind to the weak. I bid you farewell Martin, and wish you luck in your encounters in the future.” With nothing else to say, unless he spoke up with questions, she would retreat into the woods and leave, vanishing after she was out of sight with a Sonido to catch up to the rest of her forces. If he did have more questions, she would stick around for a bit, see if she could gather more information on her side of things as well. It was an interesting start to the day, to say the least.

Interesting, she was seemingly going to take his advice. He couldn't detect any ulterior thoughts from her but that didn't mean they weren't there. Nevertheless, he would check the North East first just in case she did follow his advice which was actually good advice. His eyebrow twitched slightly when it became apparent that Shinku knew Erek and his full name, that meant they had not only met but conversed on some level. She had also survived the encounter apparently, be it through her own power or through intervention it didn't actually speak of her strength. As far as Martin was aware, Erek had only been spiritually aware for three months, and she made no mention of when they met so he could have been quite weak at the time compared to how he was now.

He managed to keep a perfect poker face on the outside, showing no reaction to the last name or its implications. He could only assume that the name was being used to get a read on him, and perhaps intimidate him means he had referred to Erek as a powerhouse and she had apparently survived. He didn't say a word in response to Shinku, simply choosing to grant her a nod goodbye as not to say something he would regret.

He let out a sigh as she retreated with Sonido, but he stayed on guard for another five minutes just in case any of her friends were waiting about. His back had fully healed by now and he gave it a crack to check it was all in working order. He glanced over to his car and felt a rush of emotion come over him as a tear escaped from his eye, there were so many memories attached to that vehicle; the flames of vengeance were truly burning strong. He didn't trust anybody else to work on his car, but he needed somebody to tow it and started to make arrangements to have it brought back to his own garage. He was pretty sure it was a hopeless task, but he wasn't going to give up on his love so easily. Until he saw with his own eyes and hands that it was a completely impossible task he was not going to give up. Deep down he knew the only way to save the car was to completely replace the entire front half of the car. It wasn't something he wanted to do, but if it was the only way to save his love, then he was willing to do it.
