His flight to Hawaii from Karakura Town had been delayed, this always seemed to happen whenever he tried flying out of this damn place, and so he’d gotten a hotel room, but had left as quickly as he’d come. The night was young, after all, and Karakura Town was a hotbed of spiritual activity, though he’d have to be REALLY careful; this was Jian’s town and the guy hated activity in it. Still the hollow’s kept coming, heedless of the man’s warning, and he couldn’t be everywhere at once. Supposedly he’d set up a network of spiritualists consisting of a member of all the different spirit races, but as the man had become something of a recluse, it was beginning to go the way of Vigilance.
But, as Raph thought on it, at least this Karakura Spiritualist Network, or KSN as it had been lovingly nicknamed, didn’t have a building in old KKT that was just sitting there decaying. He stared up at the building. Well, more like the building’s silhouette. It was an obelisk, a monolith in the night, giving a testament to everything that COULD have been. If he’d stayed… I he’d tried to help Vigilance stay together when its main members abandoned it… How might things have been different?
As the spiritual signature of a hollow brushed his senses, his mind snapped back to reality and he shook his head free of the thought. There was no point in reliving the past and trying to hash out could-haves or would-haves; that just took up more time than it was worth. For now? He had work to do. Thankfully this one wasn’t too powerful.
He moved towards it, jumping from roof to roof and suppressing his power as much as was possible. Didn’t want the damn thing getting a hint that something was hunting them. Yet, the closer that he got the more refined his senses became, and it was then that he suddenly realized that there was more in the area, something that the hollow was hunting: a spiritually powerful human, whether or not this soul was aware of its own strength, Raphael didn’t know, nor was it important. She was either in danger, or was playing the same dangerous game that Raphael did when hunting hollows.
But as he neared, he realized that the creature wasn’t on the main street and was stalking the soul, instead, from a back alley. Raph smirked, as he neared the beast, he hoped that she was hunting it, but if he let this thing get much further… She hadn’t sprung her trap yet, if she was after it, instead of the other way around. Raph ground his teeth as the creature was about to exit the alley. He couldn’t wait any longer, if she was hunting it then she would have to simply take the loss on this one.
Raph floated to the ground, alighting gently with barely any sound. The creature was alerted to his presence just in the nick of time, as he extended a hand and, more importantly, his energy, causing hands of concrete wrapped around its torso. It growled and moaned as it was pinned to the ground. He walked up to it and stared at its mask.
“You can hear me, but can you understand me?” he asked. “Can you comprehend my words?” It snapped at him in response, gnashing its teeth. “Good. Your current lack of sentience makes this much easier.” He held up his hand, lavender energy cycling through, and around him before suddenly firing it right into the creature’s open mouth, causing its body to swell and boil with heat, before exploding, albeit lightly, sounding like that of a gunshot. “Stupid beast.”
