The sound of his own footsteps were the only sound in forest as Arteran stepped into the clearing. Even though he had taken care to avoid being pursued by any particularly nosy people, he had made no attempt to hide his presence from the local wildlife, and as such the animals had chosen to either leave or stay hidden. Silently, and with a determined frown on his face, Arteran made his way to the center of his clearing and slowly drew his zanpakutou. The sound of his sword sliding from it's scabbard sliced through the air, ringing among the trees for nearly a full five seconds after he had finished drawing it.
“You don't need to do this right now.”
“Yes, I do.”
“You just had a lot dumped on you, how much do you even remember from the forest?”
“Enough. My exact memories are hazy, but I remember that I failed my people, just as I failed Luna.”
“You did not fail, in both cases you were faced with overwhelming force completely by surprise, there was no way you could have prepared.”
“In that case I'm preparing now. I need to be stronger, and I need to work through what I felt, and what I learned about you especially.”
“You know that I'm separate from the entity-”
“In the forest, yes. However, you were connected, or rather I was connected to it. That's what I need to understand, how am I connected, is it just the connection between an object of worship and worshiper, with you being a manifestation of said devotion, or does your existence imply something else? I need to understand, and the best way to learn about our connection is to exercise it, and work to deepen it.”
“Perhaps you are learning, fine, if we're doing this then let's begin.”
Arteran brought his blade before him and held it in a two handed grip before vocally speaking for the first time since he'd entered the forest.
“Fall, Umbrum.”
As he began to feel the gentle tug on his mind from the stars released with his Shikai Arteran lunged forwards, and the stars began to streak in complex patterns around him as he began the first of many practice maneuvers that he would be performing.
