The castle was, amazingly, beginning to feel like home, sure people still looked at him like he didn’t belong and now he was hearing the occasional rumor of himself and Frey. But he was beginning to make allies, Frey herself, of course, but there were others. The man that Raph had run into back in Karakura Town was, perhaps unfairly, much stronger and was also now amongst the command. Without a doubt there were a few things that Raph needed help with, and chief among them was combat and with the man being such an expert of combat, Raphael knew that it was this man’s help that he’d have to seek.
He wandered the castle asking people where he was, each pass only got on his nerves more and more. More rumors, more people talking, more gossip. Worse still were the smiles that he got from the random recruits lining the halls, giggling women, smiling men... Had he clout, he would’ve asked if they had training to get to, but now that would’ve only elicited giggles. His heart was beating faster. He began to feel afraid, not for himself but for Frey; would this tear down her authority? Running his hands through his hair he began to feel the fear multiply. He had to find him… he needed real training. He had to be stronger.
Raph stopped and watched them for a few seconds, all the people going back and forth. Some running orders here, some rushing with requisition requests there. Finally, in a singular office, he found him. No doubt, the man had sensed him coming from a mile away, but he stopped for a moment, knocked on the door, and said, “Hey, Erek. Or…should I say Sternritter. Do you remember me?” He smiled. “I’ve come for some real training, something that I’ll be able to use.”
