Being inexperienced in pretty much everything that makes one a Quincy, Sasha thinks that she’s simply hard to bruise. In Burn Me you can see that knowledge being present. On a subconscious level she knows that something about her ‘skin’ is different, but can’t put her finger on what exactly it is, yet.
Bit by bit she gets familiar with her powers and realizes that Blut is a thing. Hardening her body in order to lessen the damage she takes during battles becomes something she falls back on. One of such cases is her fight with a Hollow (Shred). Here, she trusts the technique to keep her alive during a daring attack on her opponent. The injury is present but she can still keep on going, and knows quite well that she’ll be able to do the same thing another time should it become necessary.
By using it more and more, the technique becomes easier for her to activate and to maintain. When she meets with the Witch, again, Sasha is terrified. The Arrancar who’s nearly killed her in Berlin has been haunting her ever since. And while the nightmares of being burned alive have become less vivid, she is petrified when Verbrennung makes her presence known. That’s why it’s interesting to see that even during such a moment of pure fear, Sasha still managed to prepare herself for battle by pulling in reishi to feed her Blut. The technique lives inside of her and reacts without her having to actively think about it. - Hellfire and Damnation.
Nowadays she’s fully aware of the advantages that Blut gives her. Knowing that her Hakuda is awful, she mostly keeps to the defensive side of the technique. Using the fact that she is ‘hard to damage’ to her advantage here and here.
