The crowd had broken up beneath tonight’s heavy raining. Umbrellas covering heads the size of apple seeds busily moved crisscross over the wet, stony tiles. Smudges of yellow, light blue and hot pink colored the pavements as the advertisement boards stared down at their own reflection. Somewhere up, hidden in the maze of steel, glass and concrete, Alexandra looked down upon the capital’s streets.
Night vision, high definition, waterproof. While the binoculars she was studying the city through weren’t anything too amazing they also hadn’t left a dent in her wallet. Perhaps sometime later she would actually come around to picking something more special for her nightly ventures -she could imagine that Otto would be the right guy to ask for help- but for now these did their job quite well.
Shinigami spotting
The majority of the city’s inhabitants had no idea that reapers were walking amongst them. Fortunately they weren’t aware of the Hollow-breeds either, but that was only a detail. To Sasha the only thing that actually mattered was to see how ‘dense’ the Shinigami layer was around this area. Considering the spiritual activity in Tokyo and its surroundings was quite high, so had to be the Shinigami’s presence. Following that logic and adding to it the way some of them weren’t able to get to the Hollow-breeds before the Quincy did (or in unfortunate situations Hollow-breeds devouring souls or the living), she had to conclude that they didn’t have an abundance of forces.
Of course she didn’t expect them to have no extra soldiers left in their base. Emergencies would require for there to be enough back up if everything was to go smoothly. Mobilisation from other areas came to mind. Probably from Germany.
Adjusting her grip on the binoculars she ignored the water running down her fingers while peering through them. A lone Shinigami was standing a couple of buildings further staring into the opposite direction from her. It looked like he was checking something on a phone (did they have phones?), but didn’t make any signs to move.
Secretly wishing for the ability to snap pictures of the ‘ghosts’ Sasha quietly sighed to herself. It would make her life a lot easier if she had been able to print their faces, glue them in a notebook, and make the necessary notes right under.
What a shame that fate had decided otherwise.
Tugging the hood further over her forehead she then returned to her observation.
