Sweat ran down raistalin's face as he performed punch after kick after punch then spin.
"The new uniform holds together better while performing katas," He thought to himself.
He stopped after a few more blows and closed his eyes. Standing still he let the warmth of the sun wash over his face, as he caught his breath. He had been doing this practice for little less than two years, and personally, he hadn't seen much gain. Sure he had been transferred to 2nd division, but that was just the first step of many if he actually wanted to help attain peace. He opened his eyes Walking over to the fence of the 2nd division training yard he grabbed a towel he had sitting there and began cleaning the sweat from his face. After cleaning off his neck as well, he threw the towel back on top of the fence and took a quick drink of water from a bottle on the ground.
"Enough of a break," he said to himself as he turned walking back to the center of the yard
As he made his way he looked down at the uniform he now wore. Truthfully he liked this one better, it suited him he thought especially for martial arts. When he got to the center of the yard he again closed his eyes. Without someone to spar he needed to make his own opponent, thankfully he had a personal trick for that. After a few moments of concentrating Raistalin opened his eyes to an opponent only, he could see. Raistalins eyes narrowed on the opponent, as he shifted his stance. lowering his right arm as he extended his left outwards, Raistalin took a deep breath as he knew it was about to begin.

Caspar carefully observed the new recruit from a distance, as he appeared to be punching nothing but air. His strikes were clean and on point, all to the Viking descendants liking. With the sun shining outside, an empty training ground and a new recruit, he felt he had no choice but to spy on the black-haired assassin. There was quite a gap between them, he had placed himself in a spot where he could watch without being seen. There were abilities which with one could simply cancel out any and all perception but none that he knew of. Keeping his distance was the safest bet to not be spotted.
The short pause the trainee had allowed himself gave Caspar a chance to move closer. He had no incentive to monitor his fellow division-mate, it was simply done out of boredom but there was no regret in doing so. The young man had piqued his interest for one reason or another. If it was because of his arrival or his technique, he could not decide but there were questions he wanted answered.
The change in pace that happened after his short pause was even more interesting. His first posture; the closed eyes, the concentration and the shift in stance caught the golden-haired reapers eyes. It was a technique he had not witnessed before and yet there was some familiarity there. Is he shadowboxing?
He wanted to know more. Exiting the small building where he had hidden himself, it took not more than a single step for him to arrive near the courtyard where Raistalin trained. The flash step had allowed him to swish by and close the distance in the split second it had taken the black-haired one to open his eyes again. His jump had landed him barely two hundred meters away from him, enough for him to investigate even more. The combatant seemed ready as his stance changed. Now then, let’s see what he’s got.

The faceless combatant slowly raised the blade to head height, the business end of the weapon pointed at Raistalin. The blade was kept parallel with the ground, it was still a split second before anyone moved. The Phantom moved first launching forward the ghostly shinigami thrust the blade directly at raistalin. Raistalin answered with a quick backstep, jumping out of range of the attack. The dark clothed ghost kept pushing forward, Rushing forward the ghost slashed at him twice horizontally from either side.
"Far too aggressive" Raistalin muttered to himself as he dodged out the side.
Rolling out the side of the attacks he landed with his back to the opponent. In most cases, this would be a disadvantage not so with Shuko kai. Keeping one eye on the ghost he waited on the ghost to move in. In a moment that happened instantaneously but seemed to stand still for raistalin. The moment his opponent got within range raistalin released a kick straight backward. Using the full muscle structure of his body, the kick had enough power to snap the air itself. The kick caught the swordsmen off guard and landed, sending him backward on his back.
"Let's end this" He again said to himself.
Without turning around Raistalin rushed forward with a single leap he jumped to the top of the fence. Using that as a foot placement he took another leap to the roof of a nearby structure. Once he was on top of the roof he spun around. He had a plan but only mere moments to pull it off. With a scream, he began pumping his body full of his own Reiryoku. Blue sparks danced around raistalin as he struggled to lock down the technique he had no name for. suddenly a split second later a blueish white aura enveloped his entire body. From there raistalin launched into the air. Aiming his decent as he fell. He targeted the opponent from above and put everything he had in this one blow. Raistalin launched downward, determined to put his foot through his attacker. When the attack landed the phantom gave way, disappearing entirely. the blow causing a shockwave to encircle his foot which created a small crater in the ground. Half standing in, half standing out. Raistalin stood breathing heavily to catch his breath. The aura had vanished as well.
He’s talking to himself… The movements of the combatant in front of him seemed… excessive. Each strike had force and strength behind it and was not lacking in speed and yet it seemed as if Caspar could follow his movement with ease. Watching him box his own shadow was a good first step, every good fighter had trained against an opponent only he could see. Whoever the new recruit envisioned, it was an opponent worth fighting. I suppose speaking to your opponent is also a way of combat.
What surprised him was the shouting that came from the black-haired reaper. The two-step leap up to the roof had slightly impressed him; there were other ways to move in the air than jumping around but the execution and thought were thrilling. In theory, they were superb moves for humans. Caspar had the ability to move in the air and stay suspended without a sweat.
The power-up that came with the shriek appeared to be nothing more than a placebo-effect. The speed and control of his strikes had not changed, he still swung some of his blows instead of clean strikes but the power of it had increased. What was to be the final blow against his unseen opponent broke the ground beneath him. The wheezing combatant stood victorious against his own shadow.
The viking descendant revealed himself with a step into the direction of his fellow assassin. The abrupt movement stopped just a foot in front of Raistalin, coming to a complete halt. As sharp and as quick as his movements were, he was unsure if the fatigued one in front of him had noticed him before he showed his face. One thing was certain; if he did not knew he was there before, he knew now.
"Holy!" Raistalin yelled as he threw himself back.
Sitting back up, Raistalin looked up at the golden-haired man that had appeared. From a glance, the man seemed about the same size. His blue eyes stood out the most to Raistalin, tho he tried to hide them with his other facial features. This may have happened naturally, but raistalin doubted that. The badge on his arm said, 2nd division. Raistalin' narrowed his eyes at the young man that had appeared of nowhere. Maybe he had been concentrating too hard. Raistalin knew thing for sure if they wanted him dead he would be. In his head, he had just failed a test, and it pissed him off.
"Hello," was all the man said after he appeared a foot in front Raistalin
"hey guy its called personal space, you don't just appear close enough to kiss me," Raistalin said sounding slightly annoyed as he got to his feet.
Post by Caspar Berg on Nov 6, 2017 23:13:28 GMT -5
His hands clasped behind his back, the young soul took a step back and created some distance between himself and the other fellow. The sudden outburst that ended with the word kiss, or at least according to what he heard, made him jump a bit in his step. There was no indication in what his intentions were, no rise is spiritual power, no jumpy movements… and yet he had been called out for it.
“Don’t expect me to take you out for dinner after this.” He felt that the joke, as bad as it was, actually fit the mood quite well. A little harmless humor between two fellow Division mates seemed like the appropriate choice after somewhat angering his new comrade. As it was, the antics did not really seem to take and Raistalin seemed more irked than happy to see him. Hmm, I guess my first impression was not as good as it was with Yui or the Captain. Maybe there is something I can do about it.
Without a moment's hesitation, the viking descendant closed the gap between them and grabbed the hands of the man and shaked it, a bit more furiously than he should have perhaps.
“I’m Caspar.” The introduction was short but he felt it was all that was necessary to say. Any pointless, made-up titles would probably not work and lying was not really a good option in any relationship. There was a short silence after he introduced himself but there were no qualms breaking it. “So, I just saw you uhm.. Shadowbox? That must have been it right?
“Who were you fighting? And what was that last move you pulled?”
It had been a while since the Shinigami had gotten to witness someone of his own caliber, or in this case, lower, perform a kata and spar. Most of his time had been spent in actual combat and against weapons. Unlike most of his foes so far, this one fought with hand-to-hand combat, just like the golden head.
With the quick step back at the at his exclamation, it became obvious to Raistalin that this guy was trying to make a good first impression.
"If this wasn't a test, why was this guy here," Raistalin thought to himself as he continued to study the man.
"Don't expect me to take you on a date after this" the golden-haired man said in a joking fashion.
A smirk appeared on Raistalin's face as he got to his feet, Something that didn't happen very much since news of his family. It had been awhile since Raistalin met someone with his kind of humor. When Raistalin got to his feet he quickly cleaned the dust from his uniform. The approach seemed to have been an accident by the way he was acting, and the annoyance had already disappeared as it was pointed towards himself in the first place. A second later the man shot across the gap between them.
"Had it begun," Raistalin thought to himself as he instinctively put an arm out to defend.
The golden-haired man grabbed it and began to shake his hand slightly hard. Was this man nervous to meet him? The idea of it was funny to raistalin as he didn't see himself as someone to be nervous of.
"I'm Caspar, " the man said finally revealing his name
Caspar continued rattling off three questions before raistalin could introduce himself. It had become obvious that Caspar had been watching him for awhile.
"You sure ask a lot of questions," Raistalin said laughing"Names Raistalin... I guess to answer your questions yes, a mix of various fighters, and honestly couldn't tell you."Raistalin said in short order answering everything a big smile on his face as he began scratching his head.this guy was interested in him."I could explain the theory behind it, I just don't know what it called" He explained after a moment. None of this answered the question raistalin needed to be answered, however." Umm don't take this the wrong way or anything but why are you here?" Raistalin said flatly the smile still on his face.

“Knowledge is power...my friend.” The last two words came out as a whisper as opposed to his first statement. He had acknowledged Raistalin’s fighting prowess, at least somewhat, but he felt that there was more that the black-haired man could be taught. There didn’t seem to be any pattern to follow in his technique; unlike himself, a practitioner of Tae-Kwon Do, the one in front of him didn’t seem to rely on a specific style. Instead, it appeared that the man was relying on brute strength and speed contrary to using skills and techniques to combat his foe.
“It appears as if though that move of yours is more than just a strike.” He had tried to analyze Raistalin and his reiatsu but unlike his prowess in combat, he was a complete novice perceiving the spiritual power of others. It reminded him of his last trip to Earth where he had chased a Quincy and had to rely on the tech that had been handed to him by his Captain. Perhaps the Denreishinki would be able to analyze and distinguish what kind of technique he’s using. The Fourth seems to have developed some interesting things in the past and I wouldn’t really put it past them to manage this.
He moved backwards two steps, creating a distance between the two of them that would allow more a more civil and relaxed tone. It was not his intent but he had noticed some discomfort in the one before him when standing too close and came to the realization that getting his point across and request accepted might've proved a bit difficult standing so closely.
“I have a suggestion for you.” Caspar kept his voice as calm as he could, barely letting out and of the excitement he felt over this opportunity. “You and me, mano-y-mano. Show me what you’ve got.”
The viking descendant took another step back and took a rear foot stance, his rear foot perpendicular to the rest of his body and front foot en pointe. His placed his right hand, closed fist, next to his chin while motioning for his fellow Shinigami to attack with his left.
“Now, come!”

As Caspar spoke Raistalins's grin grew wider and wider. In truth, He was beginning to like the guy. As Caspar took his final step back and got into stance. He took a moment and narrowed his sights to gather as much information as he could about his opponent. He was entering this fight blind, unlike Caspar. For one he couldn't feel Caspar, which meant one of two things. He's either about equal in strength, or he is so advanced in suppressing his reiatsu that it didn't even affect him. The very idea of the latter scared raistalin to the bone. Plus Caspar had also been in the second division for longer then Raistalin. The stance itself that Caspar was using was basic Tae-kwon do. An art form that he had studied very briefly but was vaguely familiar with. That realization, however, was chained to another thought.
"Does he know the style I use?" Raistalin thought to himself.
Being one of the more easily undistinguishable styles, was one of the reasons He had chosen shuko-kai as his primary style. Raistalin's face turned serious as he backed off a step. In one fluid, practiced movement while keeping Caspar directly in front of him. His feet spread apart slightly, his left hand slightly closed and extended outward, his right closed in a fist held inverted just above waist height. His boots making a hissing sound as it slid across the dirt.
"I'm game, but don't blame me if it's your funeral," Raistalin said a smirk returning to his face again. He let a moment pass before he continued " And don't think ill show you my trump card right from the beginning" he finished. A few moments passed as both stood completely still.
"You ready here I come," Raistalin said loudly as he rushed forwards.
The newly titled assassin had a plan, as he shot across the training yard towards caspar. Right as he got to the edge of where he perceived Caspar's range to defend He disappeared. With the quick use of shun-po, he had appeared at Caspar's back, again rushing forward. He didn't have enough information to fight Caspar straight up and still needed to feel him out a bit. As he got in range raistalin unleashed an evident elbow from the right aimed at his head, which he hoped would hide the knee coming directly after aimed towards under his rib cage. The plan was to back off again after the quick exchange.

Although quick, his movements weren’t something Caspar could not follow. During his time in the academy, he had not only practiced the way of the hand but had kept half of his focus on improving his speed. His first tussle with a speedster ended up in his complete defeat. He had not been able to follow a single Shunpo of the one who had taught him instantaneous movement. At first, he had not realised that the sudden disappearance and appearance of his foe had just been fast running. When he got used to the speed of someone passing you by faster than you could blink, he could finally fight on par with a flash-step user.
Each step was followed with the utmost focus he could muster. Not the feet themselves but rather the his center of gravity. The upper and lower body was a great way to feint your opponent but as long as one kept focus the opposing fighters core, you could disregard the baits and tricks. His flash steps appeared careless and clumsy and lacked the speed to throw the viking descendant off guard. It was clear he could stand to learn a thing or two about Shunpo, how and when to attack, how to really use a feint and… what happens when you fight someone a lot faster than you.
His last dash placed him right behind Caspar, jumping towards him with his elbow aiming for the Scandinavians head. The golden-haired reaper did not move right up until the last second, not simply evading the blow but removing himself from his opponent completely. A single flash step had covered enough distance that he had to shout if he wanted Raistalin to hear him.
Now then, let’s see how he deals with real speed. The assassin kicked off the ground and in what appeared to be even faster than previously, he moved towards his foe. With each step he took, another copy of him, although blurry and sometimes wasting away, appeared where he had previously stepped. With each face that appeared, a potential point of attack was created and the more clones he had out, the bigger the chance for his opponent to end up confused.
A flash-step landed him right in front of Raistalin, creating a double the moment he stepped away and landing only a foot behind the black-haired Shinigami. Without a seconds doubt, he pushed his foot towards and through the hot-headed one.

He had to admit as his adversary retreated that he was good. The fighter had seen through the faint and had retreated through the real attack like it was nothing. The smirk widened as he turned in time to see the yellow-haired man launch from some ways off. The initial exchange however still told him loads of information tho. One particular bit stood out to him, in the moment he dodged instead of blocked. Plus the distance he had covered in a single use of shun po, had made it quite evident that he was much superior in it and threw in his face just how limited his was. He instantly scratched off a ranged fight from useable strategies in his head.
As Caspar moved closer towards him it became evident to raistalin that the Viking thought he was faster than him, but still, the thought of the Viking dodging bugged him, what did it mean. As Caspar began using shun po to create clones of himself the reasoning clicked in his head. The clones he created were a diversion to keep from getting hit. It made sense to him now he spent so much time setting up a grand attack right from the beginning because he couldn't or doesn't like to brawl. as he stood and watched his opponent approach a new plan formed in his head.
Raistalin Studied the clones coming off Caspar as he approached, they came off blurry and sometimes parts of the body were transparent. Tho the technique was impressive, it was flawed and shouldnt have been used in that implementation. Throwing so many of the clones had given raistalin a chance to study them before they were useful. Given his previous strategies Raistalin doubted that Caspar would hit him head on, so he stood still staring as he drove closer Almost daring his opponent. As Caspar appeared directly in front of him he stood calling his bluff. The instant that the image of his opponent went blurry Raistalin knew the Viking was no longer in front of him. Out of instinct, his eyes darted behind him where the real Caspar already stood. His eyes widened instantly at the realization that at this range he couldn't block the attack.
"This might work,"He thought to himself as Caspar bent his leg and released a straight kick at him.
Instead of trying to defend he prepared to take the hit, but he was gonna use the hit. As the kick approached raistalin he pivoted the left side of his hip forward slightly. As the kick was almost to make contact he launched the left side of his body as quickly as he could. When the kick made contact with him his foot grazed the left side of raistalin's back helping increase the speed of his spin, far quicker then Caspar had ever moved up to this point.. Almost instantaneously raistalin stood staring at Caspar once again. Wasting no time he wrapped his arm around the outstretched leg. Not planning on letting it go, he grabbed the leg with both hands by the ankle. He quickly raised the outstretched leg above his on head and rushed forward and kicked at the middle inner side of the leg still planted to the floor.

At first sight, one would’ve thought that the attack he was about to receive would end the fight. A almost carefully placed foot at the inside of Caspar’s leg wouldn’t just sweep him off the ground, it would probably break it. Apply enough force and you can break anything, especially something so fragile as a body flying towards you in full speed. What the attacker had not accounted for was the wide variety of skills and techniques a hoho-combatant had at his disposal.
For years, while in the Academy, the viking descendant had focused his training on two things; his speed and his hand-to-hand fighting. Each day, both before and after class, he would find himself a secluded place, make sure nobody was around and train until he could barely stand anymore. There were times where he had picked a forest, full of trees, mountains and other obstacles, to push himself as far as he could. At first, he had tried to race against animals. Catching a rabbit to have for supper, managing to run next to a young deer as it passed. As time passed, he had even started to bring some with him. Dogs, horses, you name it. As long as it had legs and was fast, he would race it.
During his third year in the academy, he had finally started to get a hand on controlling his Reiatsu. The art of Hohō was not just about fast movement but rather being able to use your Reiryoku to assist you in reinforcing and controlling your speed. It was a burst of power, like any other spell, helping you move towards your goal, faster than humanly possible. He had read books about techniques such as Utsusemi, Senka and other powerful abilities you could wield with your speed yet he had never dreamt of using such skills for himself. That was, until that first day when he finally managed to steer his spiritual power towards his feet and assist himself in moving. Unfortunately, he had been stopped in his tracks by a large tree standing less than ten feet away.
As his foe pushed through his movement, Caspar was sure that he would feel nothing but air. After all, a polished mirror image was something he had only managed to perform once before and that in itself was a miracle. This time, he had moved so fast he could see his own clone fade away as Raistalin’s foot landed on the ground where Caspar’s should’ve been.
