This far out the sands were usually all that accompanied the young hollow and his hunger. What few playthings he could find were usually of little interest at all and if they were, they were weak. They fell to pieces all too quickly in his hands. A few, he'd found, were able to regrow their limbs like him but not quick enough. The interest their abilities brought out died before his desires to see their limits could be sated. A sigh pressed itself from his lungs somewhere in his sack, the noise was small and quickly swallowed by the vastness of the open lands in which he wandered.
His head lolled to the side as something struck his sense. He thought he was alone out here. His mind was still trying to figure out how this new feeling worked and what it all meant but, usually, when something struck the sense it was something worth sticking his nose in. Beneath the flesh of his sack a hand moved to hover over where the child's stomach should have been. At the very least it would be another meal to stave off the hunger for a bit longer. Tiny feet shrouded in the sack that held his body began to move in the direction of the feeling.
To pass the time as he moved over the landscape, he counted the dunes. One, two, three, four~! His body fell from the black sky as he ordered the air underfoot to give way. A plume of sand erupted as he crash landed a small distance away from the thing that had touched his sense. A small, almost eerie giggle sounded as the sand began to lazily drift back down to where it should have still rested.
"Henlo~?" the child's voice carried through the veil of sand as his body began to right itself inside of the self made crater. The glittering mask rose first, the mop of messy red hair just above it. What could be seen of the skeletal structure's outline followed suit until the sack seemed in proper order. "What your name?"
He had yet to grasp the intricacies of proper speech but he was getting better. Better than his early days in his new home, anyway. Good enough for most people to understand his broken thoughts. Enough to have made a few friends. Hopefully today he'd make another. If not a friend, then hopefully someone worth remembering. If they couldn't be that much then he supposed they'd become another meal.
