[ ON THE SURFACE ]
Physical Description: What warns one of Tobei’s hostile nature is not the fragment of his mask that begins at the bridge of his nose and rides down into his left cheek, it is the eyes. He has a cold-hearted gaze, his light brown eyes are beady, illuminated by a mercurial bloodlust. His demeanor carefree, he moves with an excited bounce like a child adventuring through a forest. There is really a calm deliverance to his words, and often crass in nature, his passionate tone often leaves his voice hoarse. The final sign of what he is is roughly larger than a nickel and takes the place of his bellybutton.
Tobei is a slender man with matching light brown eyes and hair, his hair is short with a wayward appeal. He has fair skin, smooth and pristine, with an oval face and particularly small ears. For his attire, he sports black skinny jeans that stop a few inches before his ankles, a black button down shirt with a white tie and a brown furred collar navy coat. Additionally, both his ears are pierced with small silver hoops and the lack of footwear mention is because he goes shoeless. Lastly, his outfit is finished with a simple black belt.
Spiritual Description:A crude and domineering man to be sure of, Tobei’s reiatsu displays itself as a club much like Kimon, byzantium in color, a dark tone of purple. His reiatsu has the allure of a maddening pressure, like a fever pitch that leaves one in a deafening and blinding haze.
[ BEHIND THE EYES ]
Personality: Surprisingly self-possessed, Tobei is an open and contemplative young man whose free-thinking mentality is beset by a violent and destructive temperament fueled by an entitled sense of worth. He is an asshole at best, and at worst a tantrum throwing child. New to the world he finds himself in, his lack of knowledge draws a line of patience in his coming of age. Tobei wants very much to understand the world he is in without conforming to it, he would much rather carve out his own place in the world. And, if such a thing is not possible, would sooner destroy it all.
Goals & Achievements: On the road to discovery, Tobei is quite optimistic about Hueco Mundo and hopes to find some comradery with his Arrancar brethren. Likewise, he hopes to find a home in Las Noches.
[ GUARDIAN ANGEL ]
Aspect of Death: Rage - anger, rebellion; Tobei lived a life on the fringe, unable and unwilling to conform into what is or was expected of him. He was a man of a destructive temperament, like a child throwing a tantrum, and because of it his friends abandoned and betrayed him.
Power: Tobei possesses the power of freezes with which he can make things and people colder in a range of chilly to absolute zero levels.
Zanpakutō: Tobei’s zanpaktou takes the shape of a kanabo and he has fittingly named it Kimon. Standing nearly as tall as its owner, Kimon is a five-foot iron club studded at the top that tapers down to a ringed pommel.
[ LEGACY CREATED ]
Origin: Konoe, Tobei never knew what he wanted in life, but he knew what he didn’t want and he didn’t want to follow in his parent's shadows. They were successful, mind you, his father a surgeon and his mother a lawyer, as their oldest and only son of three they were very expectant and demanding parents. It only drove a wedge between them as he wanted the freedom and liberty to determine his own path. The further he grew from his parents the more violent he’d become that when entering high school he was a full-on delinquent. He cut class, skipped school, smoked, partied, did drugs and fought constantly. By the time he’d graduated he been expelled thrice and transferred to twice as many schools.
Following school Tobei didn’t join any yakuza groups, they were too restricting though the offer of fast money was appealing. Work was hard to come by but he managed odd jobs and bouncing around friends. When he was twenty, he began a gang with some old friends. Unlike the traditional yakuza gang, their structure was more liberal like that of a western gang, and Tobei ran small rackets. Between his odd jobs, Tobei enforced and collected money, though he far more violent than his friends and earned a reputation for his violence.
Violent people have a tendency of living short lives and Tobei was no different. In one of his fits he crossed paths with a yakuza gang, an old family in decline they thought they had a chance and rather than apologize waged war. Or so Tobei was led to believe, but truthfully only he saw it that way. He was killed on his birthday, betrayed by his friends who were all too scared to fight.
The betrayal didn’t even register to Tobei, or rather the images of his friends faces were burned to his memory and constantly warped. He followed his oldest friend, Igarashi for days. Igarashi had grabbed him from the back, held him tight while he screamed, “you’re good for nothing.” When Igarashi was found crushed, Tobei cried. Then there was Tanzan, a tall and skinny guy that was very quiet in all the years Tobei known him. He’ll never forget that face of his and how it expressive it was as Tanzan stabbed him over and over. It must’ve been therapeutic for him.
Tanzan was found with a face full of holes. Last came, Arata, a man who loved to be the center of attention, partying was his second love and hosting them was his first. He had set the whole thing up, planned Tobei’s party and everything. Arata was found frozen solid hanging from a lamp post.
Three deaths played over in over in his mind. His friends, he shed tears for all three. Then, one day, he remembered his death, he was no longer living. No longer human, he devoured souls, humans and his friends. He had killed them all. That was wrong, he had no friends, friends wouldn’t betray him like they did. He doesn’t think about what he’s done, who or what he is, he just feels hungry.
Rise to Power: His life enters a monotonous routine of devouring souls.
He becomes strong enough to travel between worlds and his Hueco Mundo offers him nothing. He much prefers human souls but the laymen are no longer appealing, so he searches for stronger game. This game makes it a hunt, some see him, more than not they sense him, but none can fight back, only run. It offer little entertainment, but then again food isn’t meant to entertain.
In his hunt he encounters another Hollow. They enter a small skirmish and their prey gets away in the clash. A week later they’re lured out by a particular strong soul, the strongest he’s seen among humans so far. It belongs to a Quincy, if not for the presence of the other Hollow he would have been killed. The other hollow is killed in his place and Tobei manages to devour the quincy, a delicious soul.
He devours many delicious souls.
Tobei evolves from his base form into a Menos Grande. The evolution is a struggle, and from it he emerges the dominant will. This time is a blur for him, he feels incredibly powerful but very limited. He devours other Menos Grande, his own kind and it is a frightening time. From the outside looking in, he knows no fear, only a hunger that compels him to advance.
Another struggle. Fiercer. What is his motive? He has none, and so he is lost, but he doesn’t want to lose. That just isn’t good enough, no one wants to lose, but Tobei will fight. Even if it's just for the next second he will fight, and he will continue to fight until the darkness envelops him completely. It may not be good enough, but it is a reason, and his will is sufficient to retain its dominance.
The Adjuucha stage is no different from the Menos Grande, except his perspective is different. He has a form unique from the other Hollow, but he continues to devour his own kind and seeks out other Adjuucha. Tobei has lost all interest in the human world, he seeks the best pry and is convinced it can only be found in the deserts of Hueco Mundo. This existence of his is mundane. How much time has passed since he became like this? Why ask a question that answer does not interest you? Just a musing.
Tobei suffers his first defeat. A draw, his opponent is dead, but his mask is broken and so he will die. He has seen this fate many times, and knows that a Hollow cannot survive. This is his fate because he is no different than the other Hollow, how many has he killed? He begins to count souls, a soul for each second, his final struggle begins.
Fifty-four thousand, he counts and he feels a flooding wave of energy and knows he can no longer count anymore. Was that the number of souls he devoured, could that be how long he’s been here dying? The Adjuucha Tobei is gone.
Fifty-four thousand and one, he counts, the struggle is over and an Arrancar is born.
Call to Action: As far as a Hollow’s existence goes Tobei’s was relatively short, if not insignificant, and his knowledge of who he was and the world he resided in was equally so. Briefly following his Arrancar transformation, Tobei encountered the first of his kind, former fraccion of Las Noches that were fleeing the ruined city. While not completely willing they did inform Tobei about the state of Las Noches and how it was a home for Arrancar. The concept of a home, a shelter, does little for Tobei but it’s as good a place as any to find your way.
