A week ago ::
Janus was looking at the burnt remains of her entire lively hood. Her bed and breakfast hand been turned to telekinetic cinders by Raphael Laurent and "Jeremy". She had lost half her face, which luckily that weird shinigami that had a hard on for some random woman named Amara. Janus had also burnt most of her skin off with second and third degree burns and her poor Tokei Aruki had been nothing more than a civilian casualty. She stared into the future and noticed that she could not see more than a few seconds ahead. The delivery man pulled into the driveway as she dropped the small piece of woodwork that was burned and shattered, that held the name of her restaurant over it. The man wondered up with a small package that said "To the Two-Faced God of Changes and Transitions". She opened the package after signing for it. Inside was a pair of headphones. On the box it simply said "Listen, and forget." Janus looked puzzled at the box and when she looked back to ask the delivery man where they had come from as there was no return address, he was gone. No car, no deliver man, just the box of headphones.
Janus opened the headset and realized they were not connected to anything and had no way to connect to anything. She stared at the over-sized item and flared her nose at them before moving one of the large over-ear set over her right ear. Janus heard static. She quickly took them off and proceeded to look at them again. She sighed and put them on, within a minute a list of songs appeared in front of her. She looked around, there was no one after all she was up where her small hotel had been and there was nothing around there. The first song on the list was Madness by Muse. She listened to the song, shrugging as she noticed a small set of instructions fall out of the box? No there was no box anymore, Janus blinked and shrugged her shoulders as she listened to the song. While she hadn't realized it yet, she could no longer see the future...
Now:
Janus was hanging out on one of the swings, standing upright and swinging in her usual vest, button up, and bow-tie. Her slacks were boot cut and she had on a pair of decent round toed double-lace boots. Her hair was its usual ice cropped that could be for a guy or a girl. Today things were different. Following her most recent mental fracture, she could no longer see the future. Or maybe, she just never had and it was all part of some weird moment in the back of her mind. Janus yawned and pulled up a reishi menu for music and picked out a different song for the headphones she had received mysteriously in the mail that simply had been in a package, saying "Listen, and forget." She had. She forgot how to view the future, and that was all there was to it. Instead the set of headphones seemed to be made for her. Janus didn't question it, she didn't question a lot of things that actually made her as curious as she was.
"Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars." She sang in a very masculine tone for a female, then again, determining her gender was difficult enough at times. The swing rocked back and forth in the night breeze as she looked up at the stars. Being small had its advantages sometimes and she was used to her own brand of nonsense and whimsical behavior. Janus felt the shinigami long before she would ever see him, this was what Rick and all of her teacher had meant when they were talking about power. Definitely useful. She thought to herself as she went back to singing. "Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars...." Janus continued singing, she had read the small instruction manual that had come with the headset and found it rather simple to use with her other gift. That stayed. Oh well the spiritual world was weird. She hopped off the swing and brushed her slacks off as the Shinigami got closer to her, taking her headset off and setting it on her shoulders as she placed her hands in her pockets. She threw her soul ahead of her, as she had done so many times and relaxed as she landed near the shinigami.
"Patrolling mister black robes?" She asked politely as her hands played with the imaginary view screen to queue up a song.
