"Oh you're kidding me!" Janus said seeing the wind blade in the future. She had no ranged attacks at all, she just made it look fake. Janus managed to bolt her soul out of range, but her body did not end up catching up in time. Leaving the thing with another gash in the left arm, though this one much smaller than the bruise on her torso. "Wind blades are fair." The diviner said with a roll of her neck. Suddenly Janus took her hands out of her pockets, her body following suit and spread them both to her sides with her palms open. Janus took a step the side and assumed the same pose, then again. Quickly ramping up four different images of Janus. They all proceeded to place their hands back in their pockets and begin hit-and-running, each image flickering as she appeared beside Kazane, throwing normal human punches not infused with her spiritual energy which was all being put on hold for her release and movement skill.
This was Janus starting to get back into the grove of herself. Most people were used to having practice, Janus did not have that luxury. She had been spending the past five years just figuring out her release, adding something like actual combat was unlikely at all. She just needed to focus on acting on the future, not reacting. Unfortunately, having little actual use in combat would make that obnoxious to the Diviner. She was right, there was probably nothing that Janus could teach a battle-hardened martial artist that could throw wind blades that she didn't already know. 268

Kazane once more had a grin on her face at her opponents reaction to her abilities. It was extremely satisfying for her to finally be able to show off what she had discovered, and while she didn't want to seriously hurt Janus, she half wanted to use her really good attack just to see the reaction to it as well. That consideration was quickly interrupted by Janus' retaliation, the martial artist suddenly finding more rapidly appearing attacks being thrown her way. She deflected one, then two, in the same manner as before. One she was actually forced to block with her arms, and the last actually struck her solidly in the torso. There wasn't as much force behind it as she had felt before, but the sheer barrage from unexpected, rapid angles was making it difficult for her to defend against. She actually half wanted to gawk and stare at the display, but she was forcing herself to stay focused and serious.
Actually being pressured some was getting her blood boiling, though. Not out of anger, but excitement. This was the kind of thing she had been hoping for in her quest to seek out more supernatural people. New, strange challenges that would test her abilities in ways they hadn't been before! Her earlier concerns forgotten in the heat of the moment, Kazane shifted into the offensive the moment there was a break in Janus' attack, raising one leg high straight up above her head. Wind gathered around the green limb, compressing into a straight line down it's length. Then, when it was ready, she swung her leg down fast and hard towards the ground. A tall, narrow as a razor's edge blade of wind launched from her leg towards Janus. It was purely vertical, and easily avoided by moving side to side, but even along the ground where her foot had struck, a small line was cut through the dirt as it made it's way towards its target.

High speed was both, very good, and very bad. Janus' real body was actually bolting when the axe kick came down. She realized that stopping, would have simply slammed her into the ground with her divination and there was still a small chance that the Diviner could end up sheared by the wind blade with her divination. Unfortunately, that future vision lead to the bigger problem. Janus sped up, instead of slowing down to get passed the wind blade and then change directions towards Kazane. When she planted her foot off the side of the wind blade she caught a single twig. Janus' movement wasn't the same as black robes and broke-masks. It was being fast, and sadly for her, physics still applied to her body. The branch cracked and lead to her slipping, she tried to scramble to keep her balance but ended up just tucking into a ball as she felt her legs heave over her head and spin in midair before slamming into the ground and skipping a few times.
Janus finally rested a good number of meters away and stood up, covered in small cuts and bruises. She brushed herself off and grunted in pain. "Not cool." The diviner groaned as she finished brushing herself off. Her clothes were ripped, which was even worse. She looked back at Kazane through her one good eye and placed her hands back into her pockets again. "Okay." Janus said as she cracked her neck slowly. She then took a step forward again and created another image. This time it was a little more weird. Janus didn't move, or the original one didn't, but the after image rushed towards Kazane and threw another hard punch. The entire thing was a feint as she pressed off the ground back to her original position and struck again with the hit-and-run. Janus was a one trick pony might as well stick to it.320

The seer's frantic, clumsy dodge reminded Kazane that she wasn't fighting another martial artist. That attack probably could have killed the seer if she hadn't been able to defend against it, and she mentally reprimanded herself for getting too worked up in a sparring session that was simply meant to show each other what they both could do. Any further thoughts about it were put on hold, however, as Janus resumed the offensive and once again suddenly appeared before her and lashed out. Kazane moved to deflect the punch aside with another kick, only to find the seer had managed to trick her and there was no punch to block. She attempted to shift her defense to account for it, but the few moments of surprise delayed her just enough to hinder her attempt as a fist struck her solidly in the side.
Wincing and shifting back a step, Kazane mentally cursed the fact that she had fallen for a simple feint. Granted, one using supernatural abilities she had never seen much of before, and was still learning how to fight against, but at the end of the day it was still your basic feinting tactic. Ignoring the twinge of pain in her side, she shifted her stance low and once more released a burst of wind beneath her feet to rocket towards Janus to try and bring the fight back into melee range. Like her opening move, she was aiming to kick the seer in the side if she got in range.

Janus watched the girl toss wind at her feet and rush towards the diviner. So instead of directly meeting her, Janus ran along-side her. Which would have been pretty cool if she had remembered that the other woman was a martial artist and that she had already started the kick. The diviner shifted her body to put up her right arm which met the foot with a vibration that slowed Janus to a halt. She shook her arm a few times to get the sting out of the obviously damaged muscles and probably bone and made a weird face. Luckily mental barriers and shoving out pain were something that the diviner did very well. If only because her gift basically forced her to adapt overtime or be faced with a wave that would wipe her mind away.
She looked into the future and decided that she had enough of this random nonsense. The diviner was completely outmatched in just about every category aside from speed. So Janus focused for a single moment. Her power suddenly split further off her body as she poured her soul into it. Janus created a three after images to attack left side of Kazane's body. She then snapped the future of her release out of her body to attack Kanazne's future. "Like a Clock, Walks." She said very lowly as her future attacked Kazane's following her normal strike with her after-images. This ability would shut down Janus' release but it was a good finishing touch to the fact she didn't want to continue this much longer anyway.
The diviner was bad at fighting because she had a complete lack of experience and her actual combat style was just do random things until someone cast summon bigger fish and the thing ended. Janus was used to losing, this was just a more flashy way of conceding the fight. After her release shut off snapping her soul back into her body, Janus simply took a deep breath, unable to defend anyway.334

Kazane's inexperience with her new abilities proved to be a major handicap in this moment. As Janus unleashed her assault, the martial artist had hit her limit on sustaining her elemental powers. The golden rings around her ankles shattered into harmless puffs of energy, and her legs returned to their normal color, and the weight of her exertion and wounds caught up with her more than she expected. She defended herself as best she could, but the after-images were still making it very difficult and she no longer had the buffer of wind to help her deflect attacks. She managed to reduce much of the damage she would have received if she was less skilled at hand to hand combat, but her body was quickly becoming too battered for her to sustain for much longer.
Still, she wasn't going to simply roll over and lose. Pushing through the pain of what she was pretty sure was a broken rib, Kazane stepped in towards Janus and brought her knee up as hard as she could manage. She was trying to strike the seer hard in the stomach, a strike that would hopefully wind her opponent and possibly be enough to earn her victory. She hadn't had a fight this intense in a long time. Against another person, at least. The fights with the monsters were much different, and they weren't as good at avoiding her attacks when she used her power as Janus was. This had been an exhausting, exciting challenge of endurance and even as beat up as she was she had a large grin on her face.

Janus saw the knee hammer into her chest with her gift so she rolled her body with the blow and pulled her hands back up to block the knee and managed to hear a huge smack that sounded like a shotgun. She shook her arms annoyed as they were rendered completely useless and hung at her sides. She vanished from sight and appeared a decent distance away, her arms were still completely dead. The hung limply at her side and she shook herself as she relaxed. "No more please this hurts like a bitch." Janus stated as she walked around in a circle trying to get feeling back into her arms. Martial Artists with combat experience were obviously a lot more useful than her. "Good lord that hurts."
Janus said as she spent a few minutes with her arms barely doing anything but cramping and twitching from the muscle and bone bruising. She kept her gift up looking for any other threats and wanted to call the doc to fix this. Her entire body was aching and blue. Janus knew she was outclassed by just about anything and everything but having her gift for almost two decades obviously had done nothing to her abilities. She was simply not strong enough to do anything that mattered. Which was interesting because it meant that there was still no real way for her deal with anything like Jeremy. That or a god, she made a visible notion by biting her lip at that comment. She panted after she got herself back together following this insanity. "So anyway, don't really need my help. I suggest talking to Rick, Marshal, Raphael, or Frey, they actually are useful. Haven't heard from the other two in years, but Rick and Marshal if you can find them should be pretty accommodating."303

Kazane was, at first, still willing to keep going when the seer once more vanished away from her. It was going to be hard to get back into range again, but as she prepared to sprint for it and ignore her own injuries some more the fight was called off. Adrenaline still pumping through her, she took a few moments to take a few deep breaths and gave Janus a nod to show she wasn't going to keep going. Once she had calmed down though, the pain in her side made itself more apparent. She had definitely broken a rib, and was probably going to have to take it easy for the next long while to heal up.
"Ya think so?" Kazane replied in mild confusion at the comment, but did make a mental note of those names for the future. Holding her side tenderly, she thought over how the fight had gone. Since Janus had called it, she considered it her win or at the very least a tie that was in her favor, and she was perfectly happy with an outcome like that. Still though, she got the feeling the seer was being too hard on themselves with that 'useful' comment. "Felt pretty useful ta me, or I wouldn't be so banged up, ya know? Ya got some good hits in with those moves of yer's."
Wincing slightly as the pain in her side flared up for a moment, she shook it off. Glancing over both their injuries, she could tell they were both pretty banged up and in need of some recovery time. Although that did bring a thought to mind that she hadn't considered before. "Ya wouldn't happen ta know of some way ta magically heal us up, would ya?" She still wasn't really sure what kind of supernatural things did and didn't exist, and on that end she was pretty sure Janus was definitely useful to her. Maybe the seer was right in regards to combat, as eventually the martial artist would adapt to all her moves, but that was only natural. Nobody could hope to keep up with her for long.

"There used to be a lot of people that could heal, not so much anymore." Janus said as she could barely move. If timing was everything this sucked. Janus turned to look out over the city of Karakura and wondered how much things and people had changed in five years. That was a long time to be sure. From what she knew some unknown blathering random nonsense had changed everything. Just like Karakura blowing the hell up seven years ago. There was always some new apocalyptic event happening because of spiritual something-or-another. Janus was sure that left to its own devices, everything was going to be done for eventually. Though the fact that the black robes had been lazy as hell the past few years kind of changed that.
The diviner looked down on the park and let the wind move across her body. She was thinking about something but was not the best idea or point to share it. This woman was more prepared than she was with twenty years of experience. Janus shrugged off the feeling and looked back at Kazane. "Seek out Rick Rodgers, he's your best bet for healing and getting someone who's useful in this weird world. Cause after two decades, I'm obviously too shit at this to be of any help." Janus said as she decided to head towards a hospital. She would probably spend the time trying to figure out how to explain this away using her divination. That seemed like a good idea. More time lost for the rather powerless woman. "Avoid broke-masks, and possessed, only real help I can give you that you wouldn't get yourself." Janus stated to the young woman and headed back towards the road. She would answer anything else Kazane wanted if she came with her, but the point was obviously made, she was still as powerless as she was when she started all of this. Five years of wasted nonsense. Her hands were limp at her sides. The bruising had ballooned them and she couldn't move either of her hands.344

That answer was one Kazane hadn't expected. A plain no would have been disappointing, and a plain yes would have been exciting, but 'there used to be' was mostly intriguing. What had happened? Did they all simply spread out and lose contact with the seer, or did they have a falling out... Or did they die? There was little point in speculating though, and Janus next statements put that out of her mind anyways. Frowning slightly, she followed alongside the seer as they both made their way back down the hill.
It seemed pretty apparent to her that Janus had a pretty low opinion of... Him or herself. She still wasn't sure on that one. She couldn't understand why though. Were they that upset over not doing better in their sparring session? She supposed she could understand something like that. She'd be pretty miffed too if she had lost, but rather than get depressed about it she would just train hard for a rematch. Fighting aside though, the seer seemed to know a lot about the supernatural world. That alone would be pretty helpful.
"Hey, ya know stuff I don't. An' we don't have ta spar if that ain't yer thin'." She pointed out, her tone light and casual. She winced slightly as a step agitated her broken rib some, but she powered through it. "Though if yer really upset 'bout not bein' stronger, ya just gotta train ta get there." Her viewpoint was perhaps a bit too simple, but she felt that honestly was all there was to it. As an aside, she added. "I've been fightin' my whole life just 'bout, so I'm real good at it, but if it was somethin' else... I dunno, a quiz 'bout supernatural stuff or somethin', ya'd probably blow me outta the water."
Although she was actually trying to cheer Janus up from what seemed like some overly harsh self-loathing going on, she also honestly believed that to be the case. While she didn't like to admit it and people calling her out on it often pissed her off, she knew she wasn't all that smart or book-learned or whatever else you wanted to call it. As far as she knew from some myths and stories, seers were pretty solidly on the intellectual side of things. Plus, from their interactions so far, Janus seemed to have a way broader knowledge of things than she did. Although, she was trying to fix that by learning about this stuff.

Janus shrugged. She was self-loathing because she still hadn't figured out what the hell she was doing with her life. Though she could pin a lot of it on the fact that she had spent half a decade on her bed and breakfast just to watch it get obliterated. While she was fast, really fast, it was useless because of things like this. Janus would lose and then believe she was back at ground zero. Then she would spend her life being annoyed and sulking until she maybe got some semblance of ability for a few seconds. Then she would just be stuck down at the bottom again. She needed a friggen hospital, the pain was making her mental barriers shaky at best. Janus grunted to herself.
"Its not that, I'm trying to push you into a direction that will help you in the future, cause I can't help anyone." The diviner said, which was pretty true, things around her had a tendency to go very bad very quickly. Janus sighed as her mind started to see multiple futures again. She tried to force the images and senses back behind their door again as the pain crept up her arms and she grunted annoyed. Janus wasn't like other seers, other seers had visions, Janus saw everything, and it absolutely sucked. It was enough to just try to anchor her mind to the present on a regular basis. The issue was she had problems telling herself what point in time she was actually at. For all she knew, she was still a child in an asylum and had never gotten out. She was just defending her mind by following a track where she had gotten out.
Even though she was a ball of annoyance and self-loathing, Janus had only learned most of her information on spiritual things in the past five years. Earlier than that most of the Invisibles had ignored her. She was actually a lot happier when the most usual thing was trying to not go crazy every ten to fifteen seconds. Janus was weird because while she hated being told how to think, she liked knowing how other people thought. She shrugged to herself and kept walking. "No, I'm not actually intelligent at all, and neither are Seers, we cheat by choosing an answer that's correct in a future where we get it right. I can be a total idiot, I can still ask someone to pick a number between one and a thousand, and simply pick the future where I guess the number right. Don't worry about it, I've lost to a wall. I didn't expect to win. I don't think I can win. Like you've said, you beat a monster when you got your powers, I have never beat anything. My gift is more curse than gift, it unfortunately doesn't help. Anyway, don't take it personally, I just kind of have a distaste for my own blandness. Why did you start doing martial arts, that like a family thing or you just decided one day mysteriously to go beat the hell out of random things? It it dangerous in whatever place you're from, did you fight a bear when you were three, cause that would be awesome." 541
