It's not very difficult to suss out that there is really no history between any of the other character's and Genki but that's just part of the charm that gives this thread its general "wtf" vibe that we were able to use so well. Genki Ogawa, a Lieutenant in the Gotei, has a frank off-screen conversation with Captain Rania Odette about her desire run some tests and experiments with the spiritual field emitted by Quincy. Her reasons are her own and its frankly above Genki's pay scale and caring scale to really contest the matter in any meaningful way. The Lieutenant takes it upon himself to secure a subject via direct means thanks to a generally loose interpretation of his job duties. Well, it just so happened that the intel was all the big name Quincy were gathered for the royal family to expand.
Appearing at the castle, Genki knew that there would be a number of emotionally charged, something-to-prove Quincy at the ready to fend off any attack and as such...the odds were better than ever that he could find himself a real, genuine, knock-down drag-out fight worthy of his time, blood, and sweat.
Legen--wait for it--dary
The cast for this thread was monumental. Genki entered the very heart of enemy territory and struck a blow that permanently unhinged the Quincy Queen and sent her tilting off into the deepest reaches of space. Let's just run this down quick...
-At the Quincy Castle
-At the hospital where the 300 Reiatsu Queen was giving birth
-Her husband was there, a Second Release character
-3 of the Queens Sternritten
-A pair of newborns--These guys were undefeated!
Everyone in that zip code was Genki's enemy and he went in regardless.
Using my signature showmanship and Genki's flare for the ridiculous, I set the stage for an epic fight wherein I took on the Quincy 3 v 1 and made it out alive, in addition to accomplishing the mission. Lucas explodes into Second Release and that still isn't enough to finish things off! Explosions everywhere! Crying babies! Backstreet Boys! Helif Pfeil! Zanpakuto!
But beneath all of that, some really great roleplay happened here too. Genki's Shikai was activated and produced some TREMENDOUS writing for Lucas especially.
I had a great time writing this even if the ending got sloppy and had to be resolved with OOC intervention.
This thread may have not been a giant change for Genki, but I did really solidify the sort of 'legend' that I want this character to hold. He made a name for himself here, and this thread was definitely a success in that regard for all involved.
Other Notes
This thread springboards into things for Rick, and will lead to big things for Lucas when Justin is ready to pick him back up again. I harbor no illusion that this thread became a tangled mess at the end, nor do I harbor any illusions that Genki is a substantially different person now than he was before it. But this was a damn fun thread that we all worked hard on and I think that deserves at least minor recognition. It was a source of great hype while it was going on, and I look forward to building on it in the future.
