It had all started with an unexpected call, but it was a call that immediately caused Kokuou Munashii, the leader of the spiritual Kosa house, to sit up straight. Almost immediately after the call he had dumped everything into the lap of Jacob Kalian, the man also known as Adimus who had proven a capable second in command, and had caught the next flight to Tokyo. After all it was not every day that he got phone calls from highly placed government officials. While he could have immediately teleported to the location he instead decided to take standard transportation, so that he would have more time to think, and to give the more mundane government a chance to prepare since they would not normally expect a person to arrive at the location within the same hour. Not only that but this was not the type of meeting he could just show up in jeans and a button shirt that showed his tattoos, this was something that would require him to dress more business appropriate.
The flight over had been rather short since location wise, Karakura town was not that distant, and he could charter a flight directly thanks to the kosa house having its own private jet. So as he stepped out of and down the steps of the private jet most people who knew him would not have been able to recognize him. Instead of the jeans and t-shirt with the buttoned down shirt he usually wore, he was instead wearing an outfit more suitable for one of his rank as the supreme boss and family head of the Kosa, the man who held the position of Kumicho. He certainly stood out, wearing a red Armani suit with the white button shirt underneath popped open, because even if he was going to dress up he could not stand wearing a tie. He had even decided to forgo the piercings he had in his ears, to make himself seem a bit more presentable.
It also seemed like it had been a good idea that he had not just attempted to transport himself via a spell directly, for as he landed and got off the plane, he had been met by a government Adjutant who was to take him to the meeting. That certainly raised an eyebrow, for even if the prime minister wanted to discuss something on behalf of the Diet, being led to a location that was not actually the Diet building or another known government building felt really odd. Then he realized that for some reason this meeting was being conducted secretly. But why? He racked his brain for any political connections and then he recalled something he had heard. One of the more powerful human spiritualists, a man named Jason Sanders, had actually been the assistant to the prime minister himself. He had worked with the man in a few places, where they had fought and taken care of some dangerous spirits and creations. One such event had been some sort of genetic creation that had been infused with hollow essence, creating a deadly monster. They had managed to destroy the facility and then the team had parted ways again. It was only later that he had learned of Jason’s position in the government. Perhaps he had been contacted this way because the man had needed to bring a select group of individuals? Perhaps, although it did not make the greatest sense why bring up the government at all if that was the case?
Still puzzling over this matter he had been led into a none descript building, and from there into a surprisingly well furnished board room that already had about a dozen people individuals already seated. Many of the people present had enough of a spiritual presence that kokuou was aware of it, with a few exceptions, although most of them were weak, probably able to see spirits and not much else.
“Ah, Good day Mr. Munashii, we are so very glad to have you join us. Please, take a seat.” The man who sat at the head of the table would say with a gesture. “I am sure that you are curious as to why you have been summoned here. First let me introduce myself, you can call me Mr. Takahashi. My associates can introduce themselves at their leisure but let me cut to the heart of the matter and inform you that everyone here is fully aware of the existence of spiritual entities. The strange beasts called hollows and the beings called shinigami. However we are also aware of the strange events and problems that have sprung up around the world. The mysterious explosions in time square in New York. The massacre in Trafalgar Square in London, and the ice storm in Kenya. Most of us have seen the unedited video footage of these events or read the reports. To be quite frank, the reports are very startling. Spiritual monsters attacking people, entire cities even, and humans with strange spiritual powers attacking and murdering other humans in broad daylight. Luckily japan has had no events quite on that scale of danger yet, although judging from the sudden increase it is only a matter of time.” The man would say and pause letting the information sink in.
Kokuou would nod his head from where he sat. He was rather familiar with the strange happenings that had been going on. At least two events had been things he was aware of either from subordinates who had been at the location or having been there himself.
“Those of us here represent different Governmental, economical, and militaristic branches of the Japanese government.” Mr. Takahashi would continue. “We have seen these events and recognized them as something spiritual in nature and have become worried. This sort of thing could just as easily happen in Japan, if it has not already happened and just remained undetected. Now your are probably wondering exactly why you have been brought here, what this all means for you. We require a system to watch over Japan, to protect it from both external forces and those within. We can no longer trust in the Shinigami to control the situation, many of us believe that we never should have in the first place. We are required to take matters into our own hands. That is where you come in. We are aware what your House is, but more importantly we are aware of what your house Was!” Mr Takahashi would say pausing for a moment before continuing. “We are here representing the Japanese government and the Emperor to call upon the House of Abe, to restore the Bureau of Onmyo and once again be reinstated in command of that organization. To once again defend your country from supernatural threats from the outside, such as the vengeful ghosts, or to defend against those mortals that have awakened to the supernatural and who have turned their abilities to crime against our country. We are willing to help fund the Bureau of Onmyo once again, to be perfectly honest the position has never left the books, so funding for this organization would not be a problem. Additionally we have even been able to provide you with some of our greatest minds, who have had military contracts in the past and are fully aware of the existence of spiritual entities. The one thing we cannot do is openly admit what it is that you will be doing. The public clearly cannot be informed of the existence of these hungry and vengeful ghosts, it would throw the world into a panic, which is one of the reasons why this meeting has remained a secret.” Mr. Takahashi would finish saying.
This certainly came to a large surprise to Kokuou. Of course he had known that what was now the house of Kosa had once been under the name of Abe Clan. They had held great power within the Bureau of Onmyo when the position existed and had defended the capital city and the country from many vengeful spirits that he now knew today as Hollows. It had been through the machinations of the politicians of that time period that had convinced the emperor that another noble family would have been better suited, one with more political sway then intelligence or skill. In fact he was not sure that the people who took over at that time actually had spiritual power or could see the ghosts. Still they had managed to take over and force the Abe clan out of the city. Now it was politicians that now wanted to bring them back and restore them to the position they held, talk about irony.
Still, this was something that he wanted to have happen. Having his house be restored to the Bureau of Onmyo position was unexpected but not unwelcome, but having the government connections so that in case of emergency they would have a greater ability to control the situation. This was a deal that was just too good to resist.
“Alright, before I fully agree to this who exactly are these other people and I would like more details, and I am sure that whoever I am working with would also like them.” Kokuou would say resisting the impulse to immediately agree to the idea.
