She swallowed hard, standing at the gates of the Second, the apprehension pouring off of her like a thick layer of sweat. Her mind flickered back to that morning:
“Cho-Ah, I have arranged for you to start some training with a friend of mine. I'm sorry, please don't look at me like that- I think that some formal training will do you some good.”
“But, why can't you just help me then, Karahashi-sama?”
Her captain embraced her with a small chuckle. “I would be too pre-occupied trying not to hurt you the entire time, we wouldn't make any headway. Trust me, my Cho, this is in your best interest....”
Her head flopped forward, a heavy, defeated sigh escaping her lips. After he'd revealed her teacher to his lieutenant, she nearly collapsed with disbelief- Kyousuke Tsukimiya, the captain of the second. Of all people, why Kyousuke? Hadn't she made enough of a fool of herself the last time they'd met- the FIRST time they'd met?! The Amai could barely fathom facing him after the embarrassment; Inner had been just mere seconds away from practically sexually assaulting the stranger. And now she was about to ask him for help. How gloriously humiliating.
It took a good few moments to pass through the gate and cross the grounds of the squad, being stopped by various individuals who had apparently not noticed the lieutenant's badge that clung to the hem of one of her thigh highs, proceeding to question her about who she was and what she could be doing in their division. Did she really look so out of place? Perhaps it was the glasses and the paper she held which dictated the layout of squad two so she wouldn't need to wander around aimlessly looking for Kyousuke's office or need to ask for directions like some foreign idiot. Even when her brother had been the captain, after the first visit she quickly realized navigating through the property of other squads was tedious and uncomfortable when she didn't have someone else to lead her- and she was too embarrassed to ask, so it was a frustrating situation no matter how she approached it.
Her stomach began to flip as she got closer and closer to Kyousuke's quarters, recalling the smell of his hair when Inner had taken it upon herself to breach the man's personal space; she didn't care who you were, being close enough to catch someone's scent, who oviously wasn't wearing perfume or cologne, was WAY too close. The lieutenant's muscles tensed, shoulders stiffening as she came to a quick pause a few short feet from the door to his office, her face reddening and lips pressing into a hard line as they quivered. What if he had taken it upon himself to put a label on her like 'pervert' or 'weirdo'? She certainly wouldn't be able to just explain, “Oh, by the way, don't worry about what happened last time we saw eachother! That wasn't actually me, it was this horrible spirit living inside me! Okay? Okay! Let's get going!”
The tiny femme forced her feet forward until she got to the door, her hand rising in bursts of slow movement, much the way the hand of a clock ticked to the next number on the dial. She knocked, lowering her head. “Ts-Tsukimiya! I-it's Cho-Ah, Karahashi-taichou's lieutenant, ah... a-are you there?”
