The Queen sat upon her rock throne in frustration, though her onlooking legion of hollows would be none the wiser to her emotions. She looked calm yet deeply brooding over recent matters, though none had the foresight to know what she thought or how she felt. Arrancar had become a pain of late, a pain that needed to be looked into. When Lissandra took to the throne over what was left of her war torn people she choose to expand, to allow the group to gain power as quickly as possible. To this end the group had been moving towards the centre of the desert, or at least where they believed to be the centre to be, to the castle known as Las Noches. They were still far out, the castle being nothing more than a blip on the horizon, but she had already met a fair ensemble of Arrancar all with their own little plots in mind. Raf and Maku who had fought and defeated her so easily that Lissandra still held a grudge against them. Then Cortez who she felt was more than sufficient to kill her alone but held off for mutual assistance of each other.
All these Arrancar held one trait in common though, they were powerful. Maybe not in comparison to the rest of their kind, they hadn’t even made it to the castle yet, but certainly to her they were. They looked human but held a hollow heart, this was the thing that made them even more confusing. Did the human form hold something that made them powerful? In her early days Lissandra would have believed them to be weak from that form, but now she wasn’t so sure. Maybe it was the key to their strength, force all the power of a hollow into a smaller form for more destructive force. Or maybe it was something different altogether, she didn’t understand enough about them to know why they were strong.
This was when the fact that she had no idea where Arrancar originated from or how they formed from hollows. Did the more powerful hollows simply shrink? She needed confirmation, she needed to find one who knew about this topic. She needed an Arrancar but not just any old Arrancar, someone smart enough to answer all her questions and presumably weak enough to not attempt to kill her on sight.
If she found the trait that made them so power, she could kill them all the more easily.
With this in mind, she stood up from her throne. The hollows scattered around the cave looked up at her but knew better than to ask what she was up to. The Queen didn’t have to answer to anyone. She felt the groups eyes upon her.. The group of hollows looked to her for protection and any time she left on her own business they grew restless, though knew they shouldn’t try to stop her. She had been ambitious from day one, when other hollows slept she would be hunting and growing.
“I plan to go out on a hunt of some importance, who would like to join me?”
Most of the hollows in the room were dubious about how she phrased her sentence. A single through running through all of their heads asking themselves what did she mean by a ‘hunt of some importance’? Few could resist a good hunt though and she soon had a sortie of 7 eager, and more importantly tough, hollows. They would not match an Arrancar to any degree, but she could always use their presence as a bargaining tactic and their bodies as shields.
With her ‘royal guard’ in tow she strode out of the room, bristling with confidence, heading off into the cave system that led back up to the world above. It was not long for the group to hit the surface, they all knew the caves well, and soon they were off across the sands looking for a prime target. She would gain the knowledge she needed even if it meant beating it out of them.
She almost felt sorry for the one Arrancar to get caught, there was a storm heading his way and he didn’t even know.
