Far away.
Cold air in her lungs, racing down the unusually empty streets with weapon in hand. Layered bangs whipped back, stinging in her eyes and against her cheeks as she searched with sight and not-quite-sight for signs of her again. Breathless, shoulders and chest heaving, the mortal woman's gaze rapidly darted from shadow to shadow, seeking to pierce the hearts to find the crouching form lying in wait for her.
Where the hell was she?
Teeth grinding against one another, she stormed off down the left path-- the rockier, more rubble strewn one that couldn't possibly be a trap. Had to have been Sakuya's fault this time, leaving evidence for her to find, goading her away from the more populated areas so that they could finish this between the two of them-- the way it'd started with her almost death and Sakuya's interference.
Where are you? Her thoughts reached, heart twisting in her chest at the thought of something happening, of someone else getting their sights locked on to her wife before she had a chance to end things the way she should have so many times before. Denial was a powerful thing, and she'd hoped that... that somehow, she wouldn't do it, that she would just come back to herself and ask her to end things, together, and they could finally just be happy again and--
Life was never that easy, nor was it going to be so kind.
Dull impact from behind, an ugly raking of acid tipped claws and serrated fangs punching through cloth and flesh alike. She cried out, earth beneath her feet heaving, twisting into long tendrils to grapple and throw the monster off of her.
Her hands couldn't reach the jagged wounds burning against her back, but the shoulder... green light flared, sealed the wounds and eliminated toxins within her blood. Of course her wife would have developed something utterly poisonous after all the jokes they'd made about being some sort of drug to one another.
"Sakuya, you big stupid..." she drifted off, wincing as movement tugged at the tattered flesh.
She landed with unnatural grace and poise against the concrete, head lifting arrogantly with two sets of teeth bared in their gore stained glory. Glossy carapace and dull bone armor clad her thin, angular lower half and the bulky muscle rippled beneath black-blue bruise colored flesh. Ugly as sin, but there was something tragic, elegant about her all the same.
The long tail lashed from side to side in the way of an agitated feline with prey just out of reach.
Something built up, shot clean over her shoulder and exploded; just barely missing the Adjuchas' head and seared a burning brand along her neck and thick shoulder with a shriek of rage. Her heart froze within her chest as it came, again, more lights shining, building, gathering strength-- and fired at her wife.
A wall of earth rose, ate the arrows and smoldered with pockmarked holes peppering it here and there.
She didn't recognize the shrill panicked voice that screamed for the Hollow to run, to go back 'home'.
Only heard herself yelling at the intruders.
"Stop that, leave her alone!"
