A soft breeze that carried the scent of spring bellowed out Nagisa’s Haori behind her ever so slightly as she walked down the tree lined avenue. Cherry blossoms, all but blooming lined the way and to her left the soft gurgling of a stream could be heard. It was a peaceful place, so very out of touch with everything she had experienced in the past weeks, starting with the Captain’s meeting, her encounter with Hazuki and then the fight for Robert’s sanity. Absentmindedly Nagisa brushed a strand of hair out of her face, fingers trailing ever so softly over the faint scar that ran through her eye.
Sharply the Chinda inhaled. In the past weeks fate had indeed done its best to stack the cards against her. If she wanted to have even the slightest of chances at overcoming these odds, it was about time for her to start being proactive. Feeling the weight of the wooden token inside of her uniform Nagisa wondered briefly if her plan would truly serve to better her position. With a shrug she brushed away the concerns. She had made up her mind on this – if he agreed it would open up the board a little more and give her some much needed freedom to move a few pieces of her own. Plus, it would undoubtedly vex his brother to no end, and for that alone it was worth a shot. And if he did not…well, with this weather the walk through the park probably also qualified as a gain, so really, at this point she had nothing to lose. Was this perhaps one of the advantages of hitting rock bottom?
Following the path soon an enormous cherry blossom tree came into view. Beneath it a spacious blanket had been spread out and there, in the shade of the Sakura and in the arms of a pretty girl, lazing around, was Shinpei Minamoto. From the distance he appeared smaller and thinner than his brother, but perhaps that was due to the fact that the other Minamoto never quite seemed to relax. A girlish giggle carried over to Nagisa and for a moment she felt like an intruder. Witnessing the blatant flirting two strangers caused a part of her to squirm uncomfortably. She had heard stories of his skirt chasing tendency and with an incredibly poor track record when it came to love and romance Nagisa was, for the umpteenth time, debating if it would have been smarter to have him come to her, instead of engaging him in his element.
Then again, if rumors were true, the sheer notion of a call to duty would have had the man bolt the other way.
Purposefully stepping on a dry leaf here and a branch there as she walked towards the tree Nagisa quickly made her presence known. Looking down at the lovers the Chinda showed a jovial smile and pretended not to notice how disheveled they appeared.
“Minamoto Shinpei? My name is Chinda Nagisa, Captain of the Fifth.”
To her credit, the woman read the atmosphere expertly and quickly gathered herself, departing after whispering only a handful of words to the man.
“I trust you’re not too busy and can indulge me for a moment?”
