Custom Skill: Iaido A product of many, many thousands of hours of training, Shinpei has honed the art of the blade. A deconstruction of traditional swordplay, this skill focuses solely on one particular aspect: the draw of the blade. From sheathe to hand to enemy, and then back again: hailing from a period of the Samurai when the first strike began and ended a battle, this skill focuses on that one aspect at the detriment of all else. But what fight needs a second strike, when the first will do?
Shikai (Semi-constant Release) Douji doesn't play quite fair. He needs a payment to render any cut effective: without divulging a secret, no attacking action can contact an opponent. Swords and fists pass right through blocks and flesh alike, like the opponent simply wasn't there. This handicap can be removed for one entire action by vocalizing a secret about oneself that's never been revealed before. Two slices, for example, require two secrets--and the decision on whether a secret is sufficient falls to Douji himself. Defensive actions are not affected by this power; blocking a strike does not require a secret. Shinpei is affected by this state permanently. His opponents are only affected when the Shikai is released fully with a cry of "grow, Douji!" at which point his standards for Shinpei's secrets raise dramatically.
Settle for Nothing - 2568 Introducing: Hanbei Karatsu Shinpei is accosted by Hanbei, a Shinigami who's out to avenge the honor of one "Magdela." Shinpei doesn't quite remember her but trusts the young man knows what he's talking about. The two come to blows and Shinpei wins handily.
Shenanigans of Two Spirits - 2656 Introducing: Niji Amidasu Shinpei is approached by Niji Amidasu, a Shinigami who promises him a moment of respite from his Zanpakuto--maybe to take him away forever. Shinpei leaps at the opporunity, handing Douji off to Niji's spirit; however, despite the spirit's attempt to be warm and welcoming to Douji she finds a very battered and withdrawn visitor. He immediately tries to get Niji to return him but won't mention why.
Time Stands Still - 836 Featuring Shun Minamoto and Hazuki Tsukimiya; introducing Consequence, Eve Avana, Ladon and Value Shun unveils a dirty Arrancar he plans to execute in front of all the Seireitei: one Evelynn Avana. Shun and Captain Commander Tokiyo Fujikagi begin the ceremony, watched by an expectant crowd and Evelynn's beau, Robert. They call him out and accuse him of fornication with a hollow-breed, then reveal she's replaced him with another anyway: Robert pauses, wracked by self-doubt. Hazuki takes the chance to spring into action: she attacks Robert but is blocked by Shinpei, who announces his curiosity at what exactly Robert has done wrong. After all, "everyone likes something exotic now and then." Evelynn spots Robert and tries to get him to leave, yelling that she's indeed betrayed him. Instead Robert casts a slow-time bubble Kido that gives him a moment to face off with Shun--but it's not enough. Outside the bubble Hazuki throws Shinpei to the ground and lunges for Evelynn. Takua appears in a blaze of glory and hoists Evelynn away: Shun, content with his trap having been sprung, kills Robert.
The House of "Maybe" - 3796 Introducing: Miyuki Wakahisa Shinpei receives a cryptic letter that reminds him of a bygone age. He follows the letter to the house of one Miyuki Wakahisa, the current Lieutenant of the First. She's cute enough, but she starts things off with talking about his brother and Shinpei about faces. Miyuki manages to get him to pause, and he explains he'll stay if she can tempt him to. She changes into her Shikai outfit and explains the situation: she wants no part of Shun being Captain Commander. Lucky her--neither does Shinpei.
Don't Trust Men - 4713 Introducing: Rania Fujikagi Shinpei is approached in the street by Shinigami Rania Fujikagi, who swears he's familiar-looking. It turns out she's an acquaintance of his brother's and he takes her to a bar to tell him all about it. Unfortunately, though at first she's pleasant enough, it soon becomes clear she doesn't have any idea to, as Shinpei calls it, "play the game." He explains what she'll have to do to keep his interest--a little flirting, at least--and she decides he's not worth the trouble. After all, he's a Minamoto.
You ought to be blowing me kisses - 2997 Introducing: Nagisa Shinpei is relaxing in the park, enjoying a picnic with a pretty beau. Nagisa, Captain of the Fifth, shows up, scares the girl off and asks for his help: she wants him as her Lieutenant. She even mentions something about his brother. However, unluckily for her Shinpei is uninterested in the position--until he notes the scars she wears from Iaido practice. Then he makes an abrupt about-face. She tries to appear weak so he'll save her, but he doesn't take the bait: aggravated, she pins him and demands an answer. He's far from shaken by the pin. Instead, he likes her all the more for it, corrects her technique, and agrees.
Somehow, I'm always forsaking one vow or another - 5460 Featuring: Shun Minamoto Shinpei has been locked in a specially-made, Reiatsu-sealing cell commissioned by his brother. After 3 days of being subjected to his thoughts and his nightmares with nothing to distract him, Shinpei is ready to break. Shun appears and takes him out, then proceeds to tell his younger brother he's free to go. He even apologizes. Of course, Shinpei can't let it go. The two start arguing and Shun says he wants to repair things between them, but Shinpei says he just doesn't understand. So Shun apologizes. He agrees. He says "it's all my fault." Shinpei hates him all the more for it. He spills the truth about Shun's wife, or what he says is the truth: she wanted it, she begged for it, but Shinpei never slept with her. Shun doesn't care--he reveals that he despises his late wife for her unwillingness to keep herself alive. In his mind, it's her fault. Shinpei boils over (he cared for Shun's wife) and throws himself at his brother to kill him, to really kill him-- but Shun is already gone.
---IN KARAKURA TOWN---
My Little Captor Can't Be This Cute - 8320 Introducing: Hazuki Tsukimiya Shinpei meets Hazuki, a girl working under his brother who's decided to take matters into her own hands. She demands he return to the Seireitei--in chains--and he refuses. A fight unfolds between the two and Shinpei seems to be holding his own at first, but Hazuki soon figures out the rules to his Zanpakuto's game. With her unconventional, hard-hitting fighting style she pushes him to his limit. About to lose, he offers a compromise: for one kiss, he'll go willingly. She kisses him on the cheek and knocks him out.

Finally he gives up and offers her a choice: either head to the bedroom or head out. She chooses the latter.

When he can't help her find a way into the Soul Society she leaves.
Poke-her-hontas - 11729 Introducing: Angeni Shinpei meets an interesting human and shows her around Karakura, ostensibly as a tour guide. The two scale a hill for a view and he kisses her, but receives a mixed response. The two retreat to a sushi place for dinner and engage in a riddle war with high stakes. Both come out fairly well and share another kiss, after which the two retire to Shinpei's well-furnished apartment. With drinks in hand, the two relax. The rest is up for interpretation.

The playboy doesn't know or remember much, but he conveys what he can. She expresses her desire for Kyousuke and for Shinpei--due to how close they seem--but Shinpei cautions her that he won't ever be the same. She doesn't care and begs him to fulfill a need she doesn't quite understand; he gladly does so.
Dirty Delinquent - 1542 Introducing: @harukaminamoto Shinpei's sister, Haruka, comes to Earth to yell at him and convince him to come back--though she reduces her demands to watching over him to make sure he stays safe. Topsy Turvy - 1931 Introducing: Colin Arascain and Lucian Volitare Crimson Shinpei puts on a little performance and is approached by Colin, a Human who demands to know why Karakura Town wasn't protected by Shinigami like Shinpei. ---IN THE SEIREITEI---
Dalliance - 2261 Featuring Hisui and introducing Ezekiel Shinpei, spending the day out propositioning women, catches the attention of two slumming Shinigami. He screams at his mother for being so self-centered and leaves her to cry over her broken family.
What's Mine is Yours - 5696 Introducing: Shun Minamoto It's the anniversary of his sister's disappearance and Shinpei, completely wasted, heads over to his brother's house. After pounding on the door, he's let in and the two reminisce briefly. Something or other sets Shinpei off and he berates his brother for his lack of romantic skill and his lack of ambition--only to hear that Shun has done far more in the latter respect and for longer than Shinpei had paid attention to. The conversation devolves (Shinpei makes an aside to his night out with his brother's Captain) and Shun, so rarely angry, targets Shinpei with a few unfortunate words that the younger brother twists into It's your fault. He attacks Shun but forgets his unique Shikai and fails to cut him. Confronted by his older brother and the full extent of the law... Shinpei runs.

Things go about the way you'd expect and one wardrobe malfunction turns into another--the two give and take for a bit, exchanging control of the situation while growing increasingly tipsy, and end up going all the way. Afterwards Junko expresses concern about their little rendezvous becoming common knowledge, but Shinpei informs her rumors are likely to spread.
