When you lived for so long in the Rukongai, you started to pick up on the patterns. The way people went about their lives, the occasional patrols that made sure no Hollows were lurking near the citizens, even the rate of new souls joining the factions. It was a delight to behold, Eve decided as she watched on her from her little shack in the woods. Seeing things play out just in her mind’s eye was something she had never truly experienced. Before, the world was flat, 3D with very black and white decisions. But now? Truly excellent 4D let her reach out and see things in a new, vibrant way. Souls intermingling and dancing as they told stories she was never privy to. Death and birth an outstanding show of the true awesomeness of life. Needless to say, it was very hard to stand back and just watch.
So, Eve made her rounds in the lowly village she was beginning to call home. She chatted with people, made friends, and even started to blend into the society despite her better appearance and show of wealth in the face of absolute poverty. To some, a hero, to others a monster. She preached and spoke of the elusive “full-heart Shinigami”, those born of mixed blood that allowed them to transcend normal possibilities. To some, it was amazing to even consider, to others they frowned at the idea of such a curse.
Either way, she made her impression around town in just a few short months. And with that impression came attention. A lone soul strong enough to make Eve slide back into her shack would wander the area, asking around for anything strange. To the unaware, Eve was not strange. She was just another person, so all questions lead to a dead end. Even still, the woman returned week after week. It was only when the one month mark hit that Eve grew irritated and stepped out to show her face.
“Who are you, half heart?” She barked out as she stepped from the shadows of the trees. She eyed the fair haired woman with curiosity and anxiety, but still stepped forward yet again. “They don’t usually send out people like you to patrol the slums.”
