The Fifth Division
Seireitei Infantry Fighting Force
"The Fightin' Fifth"
Mission Statement
Almost all of the other divisions have incredibly specialized functions, usually in some kind of supportive capacity but this is simple not so in the Fifth. Our purpose is clear: We fight. As the only dedicated infantry force of the Seireitei, the Fifth Division is expected to contain the strongest collection of combat experts and to use them both strategically and tactically to eliminate threats to peace and ensure the safety of the Soul Society.
Large-scale warfare strategists, small-team covert operatives, duelists, men and women who seek honorable combat and those who do not – they all find a home in the Fifth. Members of this Division are expected to be in the thick of combat and cowardice is the greatest sin you could imagine. It is only by testing ourselves against our peers, our betters, and our enemies that the men and women of the Fifth can temper themselves into the weapon of war the Gotei calls upon us to be.
As a result the Fifth spouts the strongest combat potential of all Divisions.
As a result the Fifth spouts the highest mortality rate.
However, living with the Sword of Damocles over their heads the members of the Fifth have not only developed a unique sense of humor but also share a family-like bond that is unmatched by any other Division.
Command Structure
Captain
-Vacant-
The Captain is in command of the division and as such all responsibility ultimately falls to them -- they are expected to keep the division at peak operational capacity in times of peace, and lead the militant arm of the Gotei during times of war. Orders given by the Captain are absolute and cannot be overruled. Their presence is expected in theater-wide operations or missions they deem to be of absolute importance. In case of an emergency or lack of a current Captain, the Lieutenant of the division will take complete authority until the Captain Commander's instruction dictates otherwise.
Vice-Captain
-Genki Ogawa-
The Lieutenant is second in command of the division. Their responsibilities include day-to-day administration of the division as well as Officer morale, and their orders can only be rescinded by the Captain himself. The Lieutenant is also expected to take initiative in finding targets that endanger the Soul Society and formulating plans to neutralize those threats using available means. Within the division they should be second in strength only to the Captain.
Third Seat - Field Training Officer
-Vacant-
Tasked with perhaps the most honorable internal role in the entirety of the Gotei, the Field Training Officer is entrusted to evaluate the skills of any and all combat-ready Shinigami and develop plans for their training. This officer works closely with both the Captain and the Lieutenant in order to supply vital feedback about which resources are capable of what actions, as well as serving in a vital role in the day to day life of a soldier. While they rarely have time to work one on one with any particular apprentices, this officer should be a wellspring of general knowledge and expertise that is more than happy to share what they know.
Seated Officer - Swordmaster
-Vacant-
If it has a pointy metal part on it, or a cutting edge, then this officer can probably kill someone with it. A true expert in armed combat, this position is expected to possess a wide experience in warfare as well as the intricacies of a bladed weapon. They are the go-to resource for anyone in the Division looking to improve or test their swordplay and they may have specific duties (in this regard) assigned by the Third Seat
Seated Officer - Iron Fist
-Victoria Aeserninus-
A fist, or a foot, or an elbow, no matter what part of the body it is they can probably kill someone with it. A true expert in hand to hand combat, this position is expected to be a consummate warrior of the highest discipline. They are the go-to resource for anyone in the Division looking to improve or test their hand to hand combat skills and they may have specific duties (in this regard) assigned by the Third Seat.
Seated Officer - Spellblade
-Malix Katir-
A rarely granted title, this Officer has found a way to integrate the comparatively delicate art of Kidou with the intimate nature of close quarters combat. They are the go-to resource for anyone in the Division who has a natural talent for Kido and is looking to enhance their combat effectiveness by exploring the blend of these skills. This officer may be assigned specific duties (in this regard) by the Third Seat, or may be loaned out to cross-train other divisions that better utilize Kidou.
Officers & Soldiers
Personnel that have proven themselves to the Captain, and have as such been promoted to a position of responsibility. They are largely tasked with spearheading field operations, and usually have different specialties which they are free to develop in accordance with their skill set. These positions are awarded to those who have preformed some manner of distinguished duty or achievement, or at the very least seen combat action.

The building is large enough to seat upwards of 100 men while providing ample space, and outside seating for the remainder. Generally, the style and design of this building is fairly Spartan, but the attending officers do decorate to their own personal tastes.

This facility acts as a bunker-slash-command and control center in times of war. Equipped with a rudimentary Senkaimon tracker, an uplink to the Fourth's spiritual tracking network, and a tunnel that terminates in the 45th Northern Rukongai District.
Underground Facility: Designed to mimic different terrains the Fifth's new playground is open to any members who desire to test their skills in a destructible environment. Powerful enchantments reset this facility daily, allowing for a number of invaluable scenarios and war games to be constructed.
